Prince of Wales gains a stat boost for every Eagle Union ship alongside her, up to 30% across four stats once she has three of them in the fleet. At that same three-ship threshold she also buffs those ships' firepower, anti-air, and aviation, and cuts her own first-shot reload time by 85%, which is huge in short fights.

That threshold got patched down from a higher number specifically so she can hit full strength even sailing with Howe as a King George-class ship.

Historical references

Initially ordered as HMS King Edward VIII, HMS Prince of Wales was renamed upon Edward's abdication.

Edward VIII, as of the start of 2022, remains the shortest-reigning British monarch in history.

Her first major engagement shortly after her completion was in the Battle of the Denmark Strait, fighting alongside Hood against Bismarck and Prinz Eugen.

In December 1941, she served as flagship of Force Z with Repulse, when both were attacked and sunk by Japanese bombers in the South China Sea.

- Her bell was raised in 2002 and currently resides with Repulse's at the National Museum of the Royal Navy branch at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth, Hampshire, England.

Hood's bell is also at the same museum.

- In March 2020, her original builders, Cammell Laird of Merseyside, delivered a replica of the bell to the next ship to bear the Prince of Wales name, the second Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carrier with pennant number R09.

By British royal tradition, the Prince of Wales is the heir apparent to Britain's throne, a practice that is still observed to this day.

The recently ascended King Charles III, the oldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, was the longest to hold the title at 64 years and 44 days.

Charles and Princess Diana's oldest son Prince William became Prince of Wales shortly after Elizabeth II's passing but is yet to be crowned.

- Among those who have held the title is Black Prince's namesake Edward of Comstock, son of King Edward III, who became known as Edward, the Black Prince during the Hundred Years' War.

In August 1941, she transported Prime Minister Winston Churchill to the Atlantic Conference at Naval Station Argentia in Placentia Bay in Newfoundland, Canada, where the Atlantic Charter was issued.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt was also aboard during the conference.

Design

Her uniform resembles the full dress of an officer of the Grenadier Guards, Edward VIII's regiment during his active duty, with the light brown belt indicating that a member of the Royal Family is present.

On her right-hand side, she sports her forward quadruple and twin turrets, while her left-hand side shows the quadruple rear turret, all three mounted with BL 14" Mk VII guns.

Obtainable only via large-pool construction (build time 4:50:00), appearing randomly through Support Request or Merit Exchange (method changed by a later update); does not drop in normal stages.
