Is Scharnhorst good?

Scharnhorst fires a unique bombardment barrage on a timer, one that turns into AP shells once its skill passes level 6 and can land heavy single-target hits roughly every 15 seconds. She also lobs torpedoes from the back line every 20 seconds to help clear smaller threats along the way.

Unusually for a battlecruiser, she can slot a light-cruiser main gun into her secondary slot, which gives her an edge against suicide boats.

Background

Design

Scharnhorst's triple-gunned turrets housing her 283mm cannons (Triple 283mm (SK C/34) in-game) can be seen around her.

Scharnhorst and Gneisenau wear side caps reminiscent of German navel side caps, as they both have golden eagles on them.

Her eye patch is most likely due to her forward-facing radar being destroyed by Belfast during the Battle of the North Cape.

Her aft radar was the only radar left and had a limited arc when facing forward, so she had a blind spot the same as someone without an eye.

Scharnhorst does not have blast bags on her guns despite the fact she got them sometime after being built.

Her sister Gneisenau has her blast bags, though.

Scharnhorst and Gneisenau are classified as Battlecruisers.

While they were originally classified as battlecruisers by the British because of their high speed and small cannons for their size, they were reclassified as battleships and are still widely considered such today.

Scharnhorst and Gneisenau have medium armor in-game despite having rather heavy armor in reality.

Scharnhorst and Gneisenau have low firepower for main fleet ships because of their small 283mm cannons for capital ships of their size.

Personality

Scharnhorst's battle-centered personality can be attributed to her highly eventful career of experiencing a large amount of combat.

This can also explain her slight resentment to war as well despite taking a liking to combat.
