Biography

Early Life

Tasha was born in a remote mountain village, isolated from the outside world.

She grew up alongside her best friend, Tilda, dreaming of becoming an exorcist like her seniors.

However, the Jade Mountain House had a strict law: to become an exorcist, one must pass a trial in pairs, where only the victor would receive the Mask of Dominion, while the other would join the cladnestine 'Shadows,' never to appear publicly again.

When the time came, Tasha and Tilda entered the trial together.

They overcame many challenges, but the final stage required them to fight each other.

Tasha ultimately emerged victorious, and Tilda was taken away to become a Shadow.

Encounter with Miya

After becoming an exorcist, Tasha diligently performed her duties, often sent on missions outside the village.

One day, while on such a mission, she received an urgent message to return home immediately.

A yokai called White Snake had attacked her village.

Upon her return, she found the lower part of the village destroyed and its inhabitants turned into hostile walking corpses, all wearing Masks of Dominion.

Realizing that someone had seized the core of her house's puppetry spell, she investigated further.

She soon encountered Miya and the Knight, cornered by the corpses, and saved them.

Recognizing Miya as a skilled exorcist, Tasha explained her suspicions about what had happened.

Miya revealed that her own village had been destroyed by yokai trying to resurrect the infamous Dark Immortal.

Tasha assured Miya that her family was likely defending the main building and explained the hierarchy of her house, including the distinction between 'Shadows' and exorcists.

However, their conversation was interrupted by White Snake herself cryptically suggesting that those who believed in 'Shadows' would never 'hear their anguished cries.' White Snake attempted to snatch Tasha's mask but failed and left.

Determined to stop her, Tasha led Miya and the Knight through a secret route to the main building's altar, where the core spell was guarded by the elder.

There, they found White Snake with a mysterious scroll given to her by Dark Immortal.

White Snake commented on how Tasha's mask fiercely protected her, even in the face of everything.

Suspicious, Tasha questioned White Snake's identity, wondering how she possessed the Jade Mountain House's puppetry arts and the ability to seize masks.

The elder interrupted, revealing that White Snake was once a member of their family but had betrayed them and turned into a yokai.

White Snake readied herself for the final, decisive battle.

Learning the Truth

After defeating White Snake, Tasha experienced flashes of her opponent’s life.

She learned that White Snake had once been a member of the Jade Mountain House, much like herself, and had also undergone the succession trial with a close friend.

However, White Snake discovered the dark truth: the 'Shadows' weren’t just a secretive group—they were the souls of those who lost the trial, trapped within the masks.

The elder, the same one who stood before Tasha, had performed the ritual on White Snake’s friend.

White Snake revealed that the domain they were in was created by the Scroll of Flowing Water, and she had only sought vengeance after hearing the anguished voices of the masks.

She explained that the Dark Immortal’s resurrection didn’t matter to her; she only sought power for revenge, and the fastest way to achieve it was through all this.

Before fading away, she told Tasha that her mask too, contained the soul of her precious friend.

With that, White Snake died, and the Scroll of Flowing Water burned up.

Miya and Tasha then turned to the elder.

The elder explained that After World Inc.

had sent them a ledger containing the names of all members of the Three Great Exorcist Families, along with a grim prophecy: the Dark Immortal’s resurrection was inevitable, and everyone listed in the ledger was destined to die.

According to After World, the only way to stop the resurrection was for the families to willingly die and join the After World.

Unlike Miya's family, who chose to accept this fate and perish, the elder had refused to surrender to destiny.

Instead, he had gathered power by crafting masks from human souls in a desperate attempt to counter Dark Immortal’s return.

Aftermath

Upon learning the full truth, Tasha gained the ability to hear the voices of the masks.

She destroyed the core spell of the altar, freeing all the souls trapped within the masks.

The elder, devastated by the loss of his power, lost all hope in defying fate.

Turning to her own mask, Tasha apologized to Tilda for not realizing the truth sooner.

Tilda forgave her, expressing her willingness to stay with Tasha and help in future battles.

Together, Tasha and her newly reunited friend set off to escort the village's survivors to safety and meet with distant family branches to discuss important things.

Before parting ways, Tasha told Miya and the Knight that they could contact her whenever they needed help.
