Biography
Early Life
Garam is an age old fox who had trained Nari, a budding Fox Sage, who traveld with him for a long time.
Eventually, they met the Sea Witch Ara, who was sealed away by them for causing chaos in a village.
At some point, he and Nari decided to take a nap, but while Nari was still asleep, Garam was awoken by the plight of a little girl, Dallae.
Seeing how her parents were not around, Garam decided to care for Dallae in their stead.
They traveled to nearby villages, helping each one with their plight with three sacred treasures; a well to cure the plague, a magic sack with infinite food for the tigers, and a water stone to create a river saving people from the drought, along with two fairy sisters to protect it.
While Garam loved helping the people he began to notice how greedy the humans have been getting, till one day, their greed grew out of control that they kidnapped Dallae to get him to give up his magic bead in exchange for her life, but due to her resistance, the elder accidentally killed her.
Clouded by sorrow and rage, Garam kills all those in the village that were responsible for her death, and swore to destroy the humans for their selfish actions.
Redemption
A few moments after Nari woke up and witnessed what Garam had gone through, she confronted him about what he was doing and sought to stop him from being consumed by his grief, and sacrifices her magic bead to do so.
She tells Garam that he isn’t wrong about humans being ignorant and greedy, but assures him that not all of them are bad, as was the case with her traveling with the Knight.
She told him that their role as Fox-Sages wasn’t to guide or punish humans, but to help those who are kind enough to truly deserve it.
Moved by her words, Garam claims that Nari is a better Fox Sage than he ever was.
Feeling guilt for what had transpired because of his sorrow, he sought to travel the world to do some Sage training to make up for his misguided actions, alone.
Before he left he assured Nari that her place was protecting the forest, but reminded her that she had friends to help her.
Personality
Garam is a kind soul who sought to help all he could.
This kindness especially extended to a little girl, Dallae, who he had warmed up to since he woke up from his slumber.
Alas, when Dallae’s death came at the hands of greedy humans he was consumed by rage, and sought to eliminate the humans.
Fortunately, it was Nari who stopped him from walking down that path, and after that, he sought to leave the forest and train by traveling the world, hoping to never again let his sorrow get the better of him once more.
Due to living alone for some time, he was out of loop and had no knowledge of modern things such as technology.
Because of this he refers to such things as magic, and refers to people with such technology, like Sohee for example, as sages like him.
