Vodka's original outfit (Wild Top Gear) is a two-star Mile Late Surger that new players start with, useful to fill Team Trials early. Her Christmas outfit is built around the Japanese Derby: the downhill on Tokyo 2400m lines her Unique up for both velocity and acceleration into the late race.

No Stopping Me! keeps her usable on other Medium tracks, though it can fail in Team Trials, and stronger Late Surgers will pass her.

Appearance

She has short dark brown hair on the front with tips that curl outwards.

Her ponytail has a fade to white in addition to the white patch in her bangs.

She wears yellow band on her left ear and an accessory in her hair.

Her race outfit consists of a yellow tank top with two teal stripes going diagonally down the center.

She wears a necklace with a stopwatch at the end.

On top of this is a leather jacket with a collar that flares outwards.

The jacket's sleeves are folded up, and underneath lies white long sleeves that go to her wrist covered in brown belts.

She is wearing a black pair of leather shorts held up by a brown belt with a silver buckle in the center.

A yellow and teal towel is hanging off of the right side of her belt.

She wears thigh-high black leather boots, with yellow and teal stripes at the top.

Her boots have two yellow bands across her feet.

She has a necklace with a clock at the end, and wears golden rings on her fingers.

Daiwa Scarlet: Roommate, rival, and classmate.

The two first met after being paired together as roommates, but their conflicting personalities led to them bickering constantly, which drove them to become rivals on the track.

She idolizes her, often going as far as to mimic Gimlet's mannerisms.

Narita Brian: An umamusume she thinks is really cool.

This connection is most likely because Narita Brian's sire is Brian's Time, who is also one of Vodka's grandsires (in human terms, Narita Brian was Vodka's half-uncle).

Brian was also introduced to Umamusume before Tanino Gimlet was added to the game.

Vodka (ウオッカ, Uokka) was a racehorse that competed in the mid-2000s.

She and Daiwa Scarlet are two of the greatest mares in the 2007-Classic generation.

During her racing career, she won seven G1 titles; among these accomplishments are the 2007 Japanese Derby, which she became the first filly to win in 64 years.

In her rivalry with Daiwa Scarlet, she competed against her in five races.

Among these races, Vodka won their first match, the 2007 Tulip Sho, and their final match, the 2008 Tenno Sho Autumn.

Vodka's win over Scarlet in the Tenno Sho was by an official measurement of only two centimeters.

In 2010, Vodka and Red Desire were transported to Dubai.

Vodka was intended to run the Dubai World Cup as her retirement race, but she suffered a nosebleed prior to the race, and so she was withdrawn and retired, leaving Dubai early.

Vodka died on April 1, 2019, from laminitis in Newmarket, Suffolk at the age of 14.

However, it wasn't until 2025 that the full context was revealed.

The laminitis she developed was a result of her kicking a concrete wall.

Name Origin

Her owner Yuzo Tanimizu named her a stronger liquor than her father Tanino Gimlet.

He wanted her to be "stronger" than him.

He did not add his crown name Tanino to her name, so as not to "thin" the meaning of the name.

In katakana, the liquor vodka can be spelt as either ウォッカ or ウオッカ.

The real life Vodka's name was registered as the latter.

Trivia

She was called the Queen of Fuchu. Six of her G1 wins were at Tokyo Racecourse.

In 2014, her owner Tanimizu presented Vodka's bronze statue to JRA.

It was placed in Tokyo Racecourse.

When Vodka was retired in 2010 and transported out of Dubai ahead of schedule, this had an adverse effect on Red Desire, who easily became lonely if she wasn't around familiar horses.
