In the Yalnor Kingdom, one name is more revered by the lower classes than any other: Aylin, the Moon Seraph.

Now the court's head enchantress, her road to success began with, quite literally, a fall from grace.

Years ago, a great flash erupted from a full moon, concluding with what appeared to be meteorites descending over Tya.

Witnesses of the phenomenon described it in myriad forms of poetic fashion, but none knew what it signified.

On that night, a farmer named Todd stared in awe when a nearby explosion sent him sprawling.

Gathering his bearings, he peeked warily over a crater the explosion had formed.

In the center lay a small child with moon-white hair.

Scooping her into his arms, Todd took the child home to his wife.

As the two had failed to conceive, they viewed her as a gift from the heavens themselves, naming her, "Aylin."

When the White Tower began rounding up the "Moon Children," as they'd come to be known, the couple dyed Aylin's hair to protect her, fearing for her safety.

But when Aylin came of age, they told her the truth of her origin.

Her initial reaction was anger—of course she'd felt different—all those nights staring at the moon, wondering why it seemed to call her so.

And were there others like her—her real family?

Aylin bid her tearful parents farewell and left home that night for the White Tower in search of answers.

When she reached the edge of her village, she heard a terrified shriek from her adoptive mother—bandits.

Despite rushing home, Aylin was too late.

Her parents lie slain, with the assailants long gone.

Grieving to the moon above, Aylin's tears trickled down upon her parents.

This was her real family.

Imagine Aylin's shock when they opened their eyes.

Healed of their wounds by her very tears, her parents embraced her with the grateful love they'd always bestowed.

Acknowledging her power and their mistake of secrecy, they gave Aylin their blessing and sent her to hone her affinity for magic at the White Tower.
