But as Gisele, the Eternal Duelist, learned long before she was reborn, a life lived wantonly is not a life worth living at all.

Gisele was once a human noble whose path in life was set from an early age.

She spent years burdened by familial expectations and performing the role of a dutiful wife.

Though her life was easy, she found it both dull and dreary.

With every choice made for her, from what she wore to what she ate, Gisele felt as though she was sleeping her way through life.

Only death could awaken her from this relentless slumber.

What should have been yet another dreary banquet turned into a bloodbath when a group of vampires arrived at a dinner held by Gisele's husband.

As she beheld the scene of slaughter, Gisele's terror was overshadowed by a familiar feeling: deep resignation.

Blood-spattered, she watched as her family fell before her.

When it was her turn to die, she faced the vampires with quiet resolution.

And to her surprise, they spoke to her. Impressed by her courage in the face of death, the vampires offered her a choice: she could die like the rest, or be reborn as one of their kind.

Gisele took one final look around the ruined parlor before making her decision.
