Background
The ever-shifting dunes of the Catha Desert are famous for their red, rusty hues.
Scholars around Tya are in general agreement that the color comes from centuries of oxidation.
The locals know its from blood. Many have contributed to the staining of the sands over the centuries, but none have spilt as much as Laseer, the Sandswept King.
Lowborn and hatched to an abandoned brood of eggs, Laseer came of age as a raider and scavenger, clawing to survive in the harsh wasteland by any means necessary.
While waiting in ambush in a remote region of the desert, a voice called out, compelling him to follow the sun into a region very rarely traversed.
It was here that Laseer discovered a derelict temple lost to time itself, and what resided within: A staff that could bend the very will of the desert.
Adorned with gems unknown to any alive, Laseer used the staff to shift the sands of Catha in his favor, laying waste to settlements he'd previously been rejected from while crafting new ones in blood.
He amassed a following of devotees eager to please one as powerful as he, while enslaving countless Lizardlings from the cities he conquered.
For a time, there seemed to be no limit to Laseer's power, until he grew complacent.
Corpulent with greed, he never suspected an uprising from the slaves he'd conquered, who'd planned in secret to overthrow him.
Mortally wounding Laseer, the slaves stole the gems from his staff and left him for dead.
Fueled by pure hatred, the Sandswept King managed to survive and recover his ruined staff.
Gathering those still loyal to him, he's adopted the guise of a gem merchant as he seeks to recover the stones of his ancient staff, one by one.
Should he succeed, the world will come to know a fury unprecedented as he covers Tya in sand and blood.
At one point, Laseer's soul was corrupted by the Void and became the Void Lord.
He wields his new-found power to slaughter anyone who dares set foot in the Void Rift.
