Morrigan, the Burnt Witch, was resurrected during a pivotal period in history in a land now known as the Nordshire Cemetery.

In fact, she's responsible for its very creation.

Originally just "Nordshire," this land was occupied for many years by a mystical coven of witches dedicated to serving powerful spirits, whose conduit was an enchanted black flower in the center of a misty grove.

Being that the coven had never caused any tangible harm to the locals, they were largely left alone to worship through this flower in seclusion.

And when Morrigan was conceived into the coven's fold, the other witches instantly sensed immense power within her.

For decades, the coven grew stronger, as did Morrigan herself, until one day a child went missing from a local village.

Though this was not the doing of the coven, the villagers alerted the authorities of the Mosune Empire, blaming them regardless.

Deeming the coven enough of a threat, a crusade was launched to expel the witches of Nordshire.

A gruesome battle ensued on the soil of the coven's grove, which grew saturated with the blood of soldiers and witches alike.

But the coven's numbers were far too few to withstand such a force for long.

As Morrigan was the youngest and most promising member, the elder witches urged her to escape, so that one day she might avenge them all.

She refused their pleas.

When all other witches had been silenced, Morrigan remained, and even allowed herself to be captured and brought by noose to a pyre.

Without wasting time, the crusaders sent to cleanse Nordshire set fire to the kindling beneath her feet.

As her flesh crackled, the immense pain allowed her to channel her magic into an incantation which set a plague in motion the likes of which Tya had never seen.

In an instant, all within miles lay dead in the mire, and Morrigan cackled as her skin blackened to a crisp.

The Nordshire Cemetery had indeed formed, but it was not to be Morrigan's final resting place...
