Stier

Introduction

Cartethyia is a 5-star Aero character in Wuthering Waves. Cartethyia's weapon type is Sword and role is Main Damage Dealer. Faction: Ragunna.

On our Wuthering Waves tier list Cartethyia is S tier, 3rd of the 56 characters ranked, from where 11 current tier lists put Cartethyia.

By game mode, Cartethyia is S in Tower of Adversity and B in Whimpering Wastes.

Other Aero characters in Wuthering Waves: Aalto, Ciaccona, Iuno, Jianxin, Jiyan, Qingxiao and 3 more.

Is Cartethyia good?

Cartethyia switches between two forms in a fight, applying Aero Erosion stacks herself in her base form before switching to Fleurdelys to burn through those stacks for a big burst, which gives her one of the highest damage ceilings around thanks to scaling off HP instead of Attack.

At her third sequence she becomes largely self-sufficient, raising her own stack cap and applying erosion without help. Without that investment though, she leans heavily on Ciaccona early on, and she really only has one weapon that actually suits her HP-scaling kit.

Pairs well with: Ciaccona.

Strengths

  • Applies her own Aero Erosion stacks before bursting them in her second form
  • HP scaling gives her one of the highest damage ceilings in the game
  • Becomes largely self-sufficient at her third sequence

Weaknesses

  • Leans heavily on Ciaccona for buffs and stacks without high investment
  • Only her signature weapon really fits her HP-scaling kit

Profile

Cartethyia carries the title "Fleurdelys". Cartethyia is voiced by Yun He Zhui in Chinese, Amanda Elizabeth Rischel in English, Asakawa Yū in Japanese, and Bae Ha-gyoung in Korean. Cartethyia was released on 12 June 2025.

Background

Throughout Rinascita, she is revered as Fleurdelys, the "Blessed Maiden," and in some accounts, "The Martyred Maiden." As a key figure in the region’s history, she holds profound influence, with her connections to the Sentinel Imperator, the Threnodian Leviathan, and the Dark Tide.

Her true desires, however, lie in freeing herself from the shackles of her titles and living out her days as a just and righteous wandering knight.

The powers of the Sentinel and Threnodian clash and unite within her, propelling her into an uncertain future.

Whether the future is bright or dim, she will hold the blade firmly and confront all that comes her way.

Trivia

Her favorite opera line is said to be "A thousand stars light up the air.

Freedom blooms like flowers wide," from the now banned opera play Pegasus.

According to Abby, she carries the "scent" of a Threnodian - hinting at her connection with the Threnodian, Leviathan.

She is repulsed by Pizza Tropicale and feels nostalgic by Pizza Classica.

Her favorite dish is Laurus Salad; she recommended the dish to Bardolino after he heard her voice during the Carnvale.

Etymology

Fleur-de-lys (more commonly spelt fleur-de-lis) is a common type of stylized heraldic charge shaped like a lily flower, described as "at one and the same time, religious, political, dynastic, artistic, emblematic, and symbolic".

Fleur-de-lis (lit. "flower of lily") is a French word; the name itself derives from ancient Greek λείριον > Latin lilium > French lis.

Personality

Deep inside, Cartethyia used to be a "rambunctious girl" from the countryside Egla Town, characterized by a free and mischievous spirit.

Behind this fanciful exterior, however, was a "heart of pure nobility," as evidenced in her childhood aspiration of a knight fighting a giant windmill, envisioning not fantasy but a noble quest.

This naive indignation and spontaneous urge to right wrongs set the stage for her later, more profound, commitments.

Her life motto, "The truth is a beacon in the maelstrom of my life", encapsulates her unwavering search for clarity and authenticity amidst turmoil.

Chosen by God, a role which many questioned since she had neither noble blood nor discipline, she was compelled to daunting responsibility with her rise to Fleurdelys, the "Blessed Maiden." As Fleurdelys, she was a source of hope and protec

tion for Rinascita, zealously studying scriptures, training in martial arts, and listening to the lamentations of the people, actively endeavoring to bring about what they wished for, though this was an internal conflict for her because she believed all should be somber and tranquil, and she had witnessed the Order's failings and the self-serving of the nobility, which planted doubt, disruption, and disillusionment.

This enforced seriousness and disillusionment with the system she served showcase her struggle to reconcile her actual, vibrant personality with the solemn expectations piled upon her.

Cartethyia's torn nature is traced to her origins: she was formed through the Threnodian's curse and malice, a "malicious creation" which ironically had her wear the crown of the Blessed Maiden.

This natural connection to both the destructive Threnodian and the protective Sentinel indicates she possesses great, volatile power.

This combination is not a weakness but a unique strength, permitting her "Second Awakening" to change at will between two forms, a reflection of her precise mastery of these opposing powers.

Her journey in becoming a wandering knight is one of self-reclamation and profound acceptance; Following a long period of being lost and confused in the Inverted Tower, she began stitching dolls and inventing stories, piecing together her fragmented memories and identity bit by bit.

Cartethyia realized that the essential thing was "what had to be done at that specific moment," not in regrets for a lost past, and this realization led her to embrace her current self as Cartethyia, a "free and unfettered wandering knight", no longer bound to the name of Fleurdelys.

She actively dreams of being a "nameless guardian", living her childhood dream of a justice knight who rides away anonymously after fighting injustice.

Cartethyia's relationships also reveal her personality.

She shares a deep bond with the Rover, considering them a "Swordbearer" and a "Godkiller" who gave her the chance of a different ending to her story.

She reads their mutual frequencies as the formation of a powerful bond, promising to be Rover's "sword and faithful companion", and her empathy is extended to others as well, seen in her feeling of indebtedness to Cantarella for the future she "took away" and in her appreciation of Phoebe's kind heart, which makes it difficult to expose foreboding realities.

She is reverent of Carlotta's fresh thought and possesses unquestioning acceptance in Lupa, an older sister attitude despite physical stature.

Cartethyia's personality is an active equilibrium of her inherent spiritedness, the profound burdens she encountered, and her ultimate triumph at forging her own path.

She is resilient, having survived the "maelstrom" of her life and the "turmoil in Rinascita" with unbending determination, and is shown to be fiercely compassionate, always choosing "to save", even when her origins might otherwise dictate.

Appearance

Cartethyia is a rather short young woman with pale skin, long, light blonde hair separated by three braids, blue eyes, and pointy, elf-like ears.

Clothing

Cartethyia wears short white vestments over a short, black dress with an exposed back, which are secured by a black collar with golden buckles and connected with two pieces of long white cloth that resemble a tippet, attached around her shoulders.

These are adorned with golden fleur-de-lis symbols at the ends.

Thinner black straps fasten the front and back of the dress as well as around her upper chest, and small blue vines are wrapped around her back and chest.

Cartethyia wears open, frilled sleeves attached by blue strings draped around her elbows, whose ends transition from white to bright blue and feature golden, double-helix vine patterns.

Cartethyia's accessories include a large, floating blue laurel around her head, three earrings with blue teardrop-shaped gems on each ear, as well as smaller thorny rings around her wrists and ankles.

She also wears a gold necklace with a fleur-de-lis symbol, and wears white, open-toed high-heeled sandals.

Stories

7
The Knight's Faded Hours

A retired dramatist enjoys telling a certain story: Once upon a time, in the countryside of Egla Town, there was a wandering knight. With sword in hand, he journeyed far and wide in search of a legendary giant. A giant who stood as tall as a windmill, with arms long and slender like its blades. Time after time, the wandering knight fought with everything he had against the giant, but the giant never spoke a word, only ever waving its arms, rendering the knight's attacks futile.

Some mocked the knight's foolishness, some pitied his delusion. After all, that so-called giant was nothing more than a windmill, and his battles were but a fantasy. But the countryside's most mischievous girl saw it differently.

She found herself a knight's helmet and begged the dramatist for a small wooden sword. "To fight for such a giant," she said, "he must possess a heart of pure nobility." And so, she too wished to be like the knight, to seek out the giant who destroyed homes and scattered livestock, and see that the Golden Thiefbats lurking along roads could no longer steal a single treasure from travelers.

Riding flamboyantly on a Tumbleyak, she raced through the wheat fields. The world had never felt so vast. This was where the Blessed Maiden's legends began. Through the fields, through the festivities, and into the Inverted Tower.

It would be a grand quest.

Steadfast in the Final Dance

This quest continued for some time.

In those unnoticed moments, the girl visited every field in Whisperwind Haven. Mischievous and free-spirited by nature, she even stole sips of sacramental wine under the watch of guards, danced away on high platforms, and turned a solemn ceremony into complete madness. Even the Order's prison walls became her personal canvas.

"She's really the most rambunctious girl in the countryside," people would say. "A serious fate isn't one she's meant for, and no wall, no matter how strong, could ever keep her from spreading her wings."

Yet to everyone's surprise, she was chosen by the Divinity.

Why her? Some questioned. She was only the daughter of an official, a peasant girl lacking discipline! Not a drop of noble blood ran in her veins. How would she ever come to understand the hierarchies of the world?

"She is the one!" others exclaimed. "She listens to our sorrows and replaces them with joy! If anyone is worthy of Divinity's crown, it is her."

But what would the one bearing the name Fleurdelys think of all this? Before the ceremony to receive her holy name, in a dull and stuffy hall, she performed her final dance as Cartethyia.

Was she confused by Divinity's whispers? Fearful of an uncertain future? Confident that she could wield the sacred sword?

She simply kept the name "Cartethyia" hidden deep within her heart. Farewell, grain fields swaying in the breeze, and the Tumbleyaks roaming so free. In a world so vast, someone must take up the sword. Someone must bind themselves in thorns. Someone must accept the weight of responsibilities. Someone—

Must become Fleurdelys, the guardian of Rinascita.

Hesitation Amid Gale and Tide

As Fleurdelys, she must march to war with a sword in hand.

For this, she learned everything she could. She studied Order scriptures and honed her combat skills. She listened to the voices of the people, devoting herself to fulfilling their wishes. When someone prayed for good health, she arranged for the delivery of valuable medicines. When someone sought peace, she would listen to their confessions, taking in their past sorrows. When a Tacet Discord Outbreak occurred, she drew her sword and crushed it in its infancy. These actions were no different from what she had done back home.

The only difference was that she was no longer facing a small village or familiar faces. Most of those seeking her help were strangers, and she understood that each of them was like a small lamp. The more she helped, the more they would shine in the night sky of Rinascita.

Yet, the world was so vast, and the Order was far from flawless, as the books had claimed. The nobility were fixated only on their own interests, and self-proclaimed devout Acolytes merely performed their faith, turning a blind eye to the people's cries. She saw nobles who boasted of their good hearts while stuffing their pockets, refusing to hear the pleas of those suffering.

At times like these, all she could do was tighten her grip on her sword.

She experienced doubt, disturbance, and disappointment. And because of this, her grip only tightened as she faced the Dark Tide—She would question the Divinity. She must.

No matter the answer that awaited her, Fleurdelys was ready for it.

With this resolve, she walked into the tower. Alone.

Yet Within Solitude

She seemed to have dreamed for a very long time.

In that dream, hymns and praises poured toward her in endless waves, engulfing her. She raised her sword to cut through the waves again and again, battling the giant sea creature in those waters. She fought with all her might. Even when the waters turned into blades sharp enough to slice flesh, she did not take a single step back.

When she opened her eyes, she found herself alone in an unfamiliar place.

Where was she? What was her purpose? Who was she? Questions whose answers had slipped beyond memory.

She wandered the tower in search of what was lost. She even tried to find a way into the central tower to seek answers. But after exploring every corner she could reach, she found nothing but herself. There was no "other" existence. She was the only soul there.

So she began to converse with herself. She stitched dolls from scraps. She invented stories.

Curiously, the fog of her memories began to lift, little by little, beneath her fingertips.

She made one doll of a sword-wielding girl and another of a sea monster. She muttered a few lines of dialogue between them, then paused. She knew this story. She'd heard it before. The sword-wielding girl had journeyed to confront the terrifying giant of legend. Time and time again, she fought it with everything she had.

No matter what the sword-wielding girl was fighting for, she understood one thing—

Each time she raised her sword, she did not care about her past. She only cared about what needed to be done at that very moment.

And if that were true, then losing her memories was no great loss. In a world so vast, she would find herself again.

And when that time comes, whether she turns out to be the warrior or the monster, it's an answer she would be willing to accept.

The Wandering Knight Marches To Freedom

Inside a small restaurant in Whisperwind Haven, a young girl orders several Laurus Salads. While waiting for her food, she quietly sneaks into the kitchen, following the head chef and carefully observing her culinary techniques.

"Hmm. A few more of these Viscum Berries, please. Ah, yes, yes. And another!"

"You can add more honey as well... Yes, thank you!"

"And where did you come from, little rascal? If you're waiting for your food, you need to wait outside." The head chef puts down her utensils and looks up, pausing in astonishment. The girl before her seems familiar, but she can't quite place a name.

"I-I'm so sorry! I just wanted to pick up some of your cooking skills. I have a long journey ahead of me, and I might not have the fortune to come across a restaurant serving such delicious food again. If my apology isn't enough, I'll chop some firewood for you instead."

"Is this your first time eating at our restaurant? I have a feeling I've seen you before." The head chef hands the curious girl her food.

"Was it from that stained glass window...?"

"This isn't my first time, actually! But it's been quite a while since I last visited," the girl replies, taking the plate. "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Cartethyia. I'm a wandering knight preparing for a new quest. If you ever need help, do let me know."

"I just had to try this before I begin my journey!" The girl scoops up a spoonful of salad and takes a bite.

In a world so vast, a salad full of Viscum Berries made the beginning of her journey feel just right.

"How delicious." She praises from her heart.

Resonance Assessment

[Resonance Evaluation Report RA-X006]

Time of Awakening unknown. It is speculated that due to the opposing influences exerted by Sentinel Imperator and Threnodian Leviathan, Cartethyia's Spectrum Performance data exceeds standard values by ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇. Calculation of accurate data using existing methods is impossible.

Analysis of test samples has revealed a non-convergent Rabelle's Curve with a pronounced periodic waveform. Therefore, Cartethyia is classified as a Congenital Resonator.

System has classified Cartethyia as a unique subject. Her file has been sealed under a special project group. Access clearance: ▇▇▇

System will conduct continuous monitoring of Cartethyia.

Overclock Diagnostic

Cartethyia's waveform graph shows elliptical fluctuations with a stable Time Domain. Peak values between upper and lower bounds show intermittent upward trends, with peak values not yet exceeding critical threshold. No abnormal fluctuations have been observed.

External and internal forces within Cartethyia have nearly reached a state of fusion.

Resonant Criticality: High. Stability is high with minimal risk of Overclocking. However, it is worth noting that Cartethyia's body shows unstable power fluctuations when distant from Rinascita.

Cartethyia is a rare individual who has undergone a Second Awakening, enabling her to transition freely between two forms. It must be emphasized that this is not a case of Overclocking, but rather the precise invocation of her powers.

Note from a Bloom Bearer: When Miss Cartethyia... No, wait, Fleurdelys, demonstrated her powers, the storm nearly tore the entire simulation apart! My, oh, my. We gotta take extra precautions with our next test!
