Beni-Enma

A young swordswoman whose title comes from the famous Japanese folktale of the "Tongue-Cut Sparrow." She is also the reliable young owner of the Enma-tei. What's more, she is also a gallant hostess who never hesitates to nag at those who are lazy, while offering encouragement and the sincerest service to those who are honest.

Her sword-drawing skills are so keen that she can slice off a single layer of skin, and also cut out any tongue that dares speak falsehoods... At least, so the rumors say...

"I will not take your life. But I will not tolerate that deceitful tongue of yours!"

Typically her LUK is C, but since her baseline bad fortune was offset by meeting a kind old man, she believes it is actually higher.

She appears in folklore as a creature who helps humans in the mountains. This description is retained in the Uji Shui Monogatari, a collection of stories created during the early Kamakura period. Normally she wouldn't be a summonable Heroic Spirit, but she became a Servant who represents those who accept the wishes of children.

She's proactive, yet an introvert. While she may appear to be a cute little girl, she is truly a swordsman with the bearing of a government official. Both earnest and thoughtful, she is fearless in her interactions with others, though she is always respectful no matter who she addresses. Her lifestyle is not so self-centered as Tamamo-no-Mae's or Kiyohime's, but that doesn't mean she dislikes happy-go-lucky people inherently, although she does not necessarily approve of them outright either.

She may behave like a fair and composed judge, but she is actually a loyal sparrow who cherishes all favors granted to her as treasures.

Third secret technique of Enjaku Sewing Battoujutsu.

A wicker box of calamity is summoned and unsealed. A parade of one hundred oni (actually sparrows) manifests to confuse the enemy and drag them within the box. The box is then taken to a banquet hall where sparrows, taking on the appearance of the Ten Kings of Hell (rulers of the dead, of which King Enma is one), wait to make their judgment. The enemy then receives Beni-Enma's sword stroke of sentencing. This Noble Phantasm is especially damaging to those of the "Chaotic" and "Evil" alignments.

The instinctive ability to sense danger, also called the sixth sense. She feels some resentment toward a certain swordsman with whom she shares the same technique and skill, but never mentions those feelings. That being said, she plans to cut down that sham of a samurai when next they meet.

A result of her extensive training to be able to converse even with her tongue cut. It nullifies Skill Seals applied to her.

The large box is about one meter long, and the smaller box is about 30 centimeters.

The wicker box given to the enemy party inflicts various types of bad luck―negative effects―on them, but at the same time it slightly recovers their HP. No matter how much she abhors the enemy, Beni-Enma never forgets that it must retain its original nature as a gift.

It brings about good luck to her own party, and it also recovers HP. Wait...that sounds too good to be true.

But for some reason, it also slightly restores the enemy's HP.

No matter how much leverage it should give to her own party, Beni-Enma still prepares it as a gift for all.

A demon or oni from hell who operates the Enma-tei. She is the adopted daughter of Datsue-ba, the old woman who works on the banks of the Sanzu, and the Great King Enma. It is said that she was a little slave girl who died wandering in the mountains. By order of the Great King Enma, she was tasked with managing a magoiya, a house for lost souls that measures the sins of those who visit. At one point, however, she was struck by a surge of loneliness and descended the mountain to a human village, where a mean old woman terrorized her. A kind old man saved her, which prompted her to support virtuous humans, giving rise to the story of the tongue-cut sparrow as it is known today.

In addition, at the request of various Heroic Spirits, she holds regular cooking classes in the Throne of Heroes. She is a child chef as well as a tough-as-nails instructor. Uzume is among those who have graduated Beni-Enma's cooking class. The female Japanese yokai-type Servants are all educated by Beni-Enma. No matter what legend or myth they have as their origin, Servants who did not know how to cook at all like Tamamo-no-Mae, Kiyohime, Osakabehime, Takiyashahime, and Suzuka Gozen all count Beni-Enma as their feared and respected teacher.
