Lakshmi Bai

One of the most famous leaders of the Indian Rebellion of 1857.

Despite being the Rani of Jhansi, she took up a sword, rode a horse, and led her people from the front lines. Her brilliant command of the rebellion's army earned her praise even from the enemy British commander.

She led her people courageously against the British troops, who were armed with the most advanced weaponry of the time, but died in battle in Gwalior, in June of 1858.

Even after her death, tales of her bravery and strong will have left their mark on people's hearts to this day.

She's often mistaken for someone else, which leads to her being chased by a Caster with bulging eyes.

After her husband, the king, died from illness, Lakshmi was tasked with negotiating the fate of the Jhansi kingdom with Britain.

In this period, Britain established a policy called the doctrine of lapse, where adopted individuals were not recognized to claim the throne, and any nation that did not have an heir was annexed by the East India Company. In consequence, Lakshmi's hopes to continue the kingdom through adoption were shattered.

When the Indian Governor-General Dalhousie's envoy declared that Jhansi was going to be annexed as British territory, Lakshmi did not shed a tear, but instead firmly declared, "I shall not surrender my Jhansi!"

Later, Lakshmi became the symbol of resistance for the people of Jhansi. The Jhansi rebel force, many of whom were female soldiers inspired by Lakshmi, fought with daring and determination, so much that the British were astonished by their bravery.

In 1858, Jhansi palace was taken over by suppression forces, but Lakshmi managed to escape. She joined with other rebel forces and continued her resistance movement from the city of Gwalior.

However, the resistance never gained further momentum, and two months later, the British army successfully executed an all-out attack on the city.

While Lakshmi fought valiantly in this battle, it was said that she sustained a bullet wound while commanding the front lines and died.

This skill demonstrates the queen's prowess as a military commander as she brought together the princely state of Jhansi to rebel against the British army.

Rani means "queen" in Hindi.

Sipahi's Assault: B

A skill that represents a group of Indian mercenaries hired by the East India Company called the Sipahi, also known as Sepoy, who were said to be the cause of the rebellion.

The rebellion by the Jhansi princely state was triggered due in part to the Sipahi in Jhansi, who killed a stationed British soldier in response to the rebellion troops laying siege to Delhi.

Soon after, the Sipahi headed to Delhi, which left Lakshmi to spend her own money to hire soldiers to protect Jhansi alone.

The Kingdom That Rejects Usurpation.

This Noble Phantasm is the actualization of Lakshmi's strong resolve and wish to protect her country at all cost.

Typically this would be a Bounded Field Noble Phantasm that generates a territory that protects those inside from outside invaders. As she protected the Jhansi kingdom with her life, this Noble Phantasm is activated by a causal relationship such that what she protects becomes her kingdom.

As she was summoned as a Saber this time around, this Noble Phantasm hinges on the concept that she is "rejecting outside enemies" and converts it into an attack, functioning as an Anti-Army attack.

Her sword's gleam carries all her thoughts and prayers, and it represents her resolve that carries the fate of her country. Thus, it is a blade that will never bend or break, and it mows down the enemy by leveraging the radiance and weight of a country's future.

Even though she's a modern Servant, her ties with the Indian Lostbelt have enabled her to possess Divinity.

Because of these special circumstances, the Divided Spirit of the Hindu goddess Lakshmi dwells in her body, establishing a situation where she is almost like a Pseudo-Servant. The fact that their names are the same also heightened their affinity on a magecraft level to push the situation even further.

...Though that's not exactly accurate. The goddess she harbors within herself is actually Lakshmi's older sister, the goddess of misfortune and ill fate, Alakshmi. (There is also a theory that they are the same person, or she is a different aspect of Lakshmi.) Some also say that Alakshmi is the second wife of the demon Kali, who appears during the Kali Yuga period.

But really, only a portion of this goddess dwells within, and so her personality remains mostly that of Rani Lakshmi. And so the goddess elements that Lakshmi Bai possesses are as follows:

Divinity, which works like fuel to drive her.

Alakshmi's impulses that sometimes bubble up from within.

Being a goddess of ill fate, some lingering elements of failure cause her to be...a huge klutz.
