Merlin

The vagabond of paradise. The court wizard, prophet, and adviser from the Legend of King Arthur. He would sometimes guide, sometimes cause trouble for, and sometimes aid King Arthur as he fought against his many enemies and overcame his many trials. He was a sage, but fundamentally not human. He was, in fact, a half-blood born of a human and an incubus.

"I love the world of humans, but as for individual humans, well, um... you know! Yep! Okay, I'm starting to think it's better left unsaid!"

As you can see, he's not particularly an ally of mankind.

He is one of the strongest Casters, but he isn't very good at magecraft. Why? Because he gets tongue-tied when chanting spells, you see.

It's said that while his mother was the princess of Wales, his father was an incubus, a supernatural being that lives between the Earth and the Moon.

He was a prophet from a young age.

The prophecy that brought him the greatest fame was that of a red dragon and a white dragon that slept beneath Mt. Erir, and how they would fight after they awoke.

"The red dragon represents Britain, and the white dragon the Saxons. Someday, Britain will gather power under the banner of a great king, and defeat the Gauls and Romans."

These words were passed on through the ages as the prophecy of Merlin.

He left many other prophecies, some of which concerned even the outcome of wars and the deaths of kings.

Merlin aided Arthur's father, Uther Pendragon, in his marriage to the queen, watching over the throne since before King Arthur's birth.

In some versions of the story, he is like a foster father to Arthur, who watches over the young king's growth and teaches him many things.

Eternally Secluded Utopia.

Merlin recreates the tower where he is still sealed away.

Flowers bloom on the ground, and warm sunlight pours into the surroundings, even in the darkest depths of hell.

Even if he were trapped in the smallest and darkest of cells, his only view a fragment of the sky far above, his utopia would continue to manifest.

The place where Merlin, the Mage of Flowers, dwells will never be a hell.

It will be a land filled with hope.

Illusion: A

Magecraft that deceives others.

Refers to mental interference and false images projected into the real world.

At A rank, it can create not only nightmares within the world of the mind, but in the real world as well. It could easily create false images powerful enough to affect an entire village.

A young man like the wind blowing across a grassy plain.

Everyone relaxes in his presence.

A good-looking, easygoing man with a good heart.

But he lacks a sense of responsibility and tends to be relaxed no matter the situation, so he is often seen as a shady con man.

He takes an objective view of things, and while he admits that the human world can be a cruel place,

he says, "Well that's no fun, is it?" and changes the world into something happy.

He loves the world of mankind. He loves mischief. He loves girls.

The Mage of Flowers gets through most of his problems with a refreshing smile and a, "Now, now," retort.

He's often seen as a perfectly happy person, with no worries at all, but Merlin himself realizes that he is an outsider in human society, and so he can't tear down the final barrier of being able to call someone a dear friend.

He watches over the world day and night so that humanity can have a happy ending.

Hero Creation: EX

The skill to cause the birth of a king and raise them.

Merlin can be said to be King Arthur's true father, and is one of the most famous kingmakers in the world.

Mixed Blood: EX

Has the blood of a non-human within him. Merlin is part incubus, and has inherited its special traits.

Self-Manifestation: A

The ability to manifest in the world on one's own.

Merlin is not normally summoned as a Heroic Spirit. This is because there is no future where he can die.

He serves his Master as a Servant to vent his selfish desires, which could essentially be called a hobby.

In order to indulge this hobby of his, he single-handedly obtained this skill that only a certain special class could possess, and pretends to be summoned as a Servant.

He possesses outstanding clairvoyance, and was able to see both the collapse of the Round Table and Britain's peril. In spite of this, he left the country without telling King Arthur.

There are several theories as to why Merlin did not tell King Arthur of his fate, but it's said that this was because he did not side with any one individual, and instead only loved fate itself.

Afterwards, Merlin went to the utopia of Avalon, and sealed himself within the tower there.

Unable to die, he is destined to watch over the world of man until the end of time.

...Almost as if this were the lot of a foolish man who playfully interfered with the fate of a young girl.
