A celebrated hero of Romanian history, he fought to keep Wallachia independent. A warrior of integrity, once called the shield of the Christian world... and an Innocent Monster, known throughout the world by the name of "Dracula."

To save Wallachia from the Turkish forces, he purged the nobles who had ruined his country, and impaled 20,000 Turkish soldiers on stakes.

But the severity of his punishments turned the nobles against him, and in the end, he was betrayed and assassinated by Wallachian nobility.

Due to its origin, it's said to increase the amount of pain the target feels in accordance with their wickedness or depravity. Inflicts greater damage to targets of his purge: those who committed the crimes of flight, depravity, or violence.

Vlad III did whatever it took to protect the independence of Wallachia, and the Turks hated him as if he were a devil.

In the year of 1462, he adopted a scorched earth strategy and guerrilla tactics to fight a force of 150,000 Turks with only 10,000 men.

Evacuating his people to the Carpathian mountains, he emptied everything between the enemy and the capital.

When the enemy arrived, they were confronted with the impaled corpses of over 20,000 Turkish soldiers around the capital of Târgoviște.

A vast field of impaled bodies extended around the fortress of Târgoviște. Even the brave Turkish soldiers lost their will to fight in the face of the stench and horrifying sight.

Their commander, Mehmed II, known as "Mehmed the Conqueror," said, "I fear no man, but a devil is a different matter," as he pulled his army out.

The field of stakes was three kilometers long and one kilometer wide. Even after the Ottoman Empire conquered Wallachia in later years, they recognized the state's autonomy out of the trauma from this experience.

Dracula was originally a title he gave himself, meaning "Son of the Dragon."

It comes from his father, Vlad II, who was a knight of the Holy Roman Empire's Order of the Dragon and called himself "Dracul."

Vlad believed in the love of the Lord and tried to fulfill his duty as a nobleman by righting misdeeds.

However, his honorable poverty was disliked by feudal lords of a wealthy privileged class, who conspired to slay the warrior who saved Christendom.

Innocent Monster: A

A monster whose existence or past was twisted by the impression left by their deeds in life. It changes their appearance and abilities.

Dracula is now one of the world's most famous monsters.

He is the most famous case where a work of fiction has altered reality.

...However, it cannot be said that it all came from the arrogance of the author Bram Stoker.

Vlad III would do whatever it took to protect Wallachia, and was feared as a devil by both the Turks and even his own people.

According to records delivered to the Vatican, he impaled up to 100,000 people in his lifetime. Terrifyingly, these records do not include enemy soldiers.

Immorality and corruption. Betrayal and mistrust. Violence and villainy.

The warrior vowed to protect his homeland from these detestable things. However, in attempting to eliminate such things, he chose an even darker path.

His armor is stained black with the dried blood of his enemies, his overcoat soaked crimson by the blood of traitors.

The purifying lance that once pitied the masses has become the dreaded impaling stake, judging the weaknesses of men.

That stake is Vlad III.
