You'll see people, exhausted for their own reasons, buying lottery tickets.

They joke around with the people next to them that "You'll know I won when I don't show up to work next week!"

In this day and age, we all dream of changing our lives.

Jo Kyuhwan was the same way.

As he watched S-Rank hunters on TV,

he dreamt of a completely different life.

Awakening wasn't something that could be done just because you wanted to.

Even if you could, high-rank Awakenings were only possible for those the heavens deemed worthy.

Jo Kyuhwan was a realistic person. Therefore, he only set goals that could be achieved.

All he wanted to be was a B-Rank hunter.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Unfortunately, the luck befell him chose something simpler.

C-Rank Mage-Type Awakened Being

Compared to physical-type awakened beings, magic and support-types are relatively few in number, so if you honed your skills, it was worth trying to get into a major guild.

But between the ranks of awakened beings, there was an insurmountable wall, and even if you joined a major guild, you would be pushed back by a higher-ranking hunter and never given a chance.

Jo Kyuhwan felt that it was unfair to lose out on the benefit of awakend beings just because of a low rank.

If you're an awakened being, you had to risk your life to go into the dungeons, regardless of rank.

If putting your life on the line was a requirement, it would be better to find a way to gain rather than struggle with a goal that might be unattainable.

So he gave up on joining a major guild and started to look for ways to make more money.

By chance, he met Hwang Dongsuk. Dongsuk was a genius when it came to making money, and his methods made Jo Kyuhwan eye's grow wide.

Jo Kyuhwan dreamt of a single moment that would change his life, and had lived a very normal life up until he met Hwang Dongsuk.

He soon became Hwang Dongsuk's righthand man and was in charge of handling bait.
