Background

Woo Jinchul is a playable Hunter in Solo Leveling: ARISE.

The Chief Inspector of the Korean Hunters Association Surveillance Team.

As Go Gunhee's right-hand man, he's in charge of tasks both big and small.

Dossier #01: Judgement

Judgement for the wicked within the frame of the law.

This is what Woo Jinchul dreamed of since he was a young child.

There wasn't any one even that set him on his path, but rather a strong desire for a just world.

Whenever he got news of some new injustice, a rage boiled in his chest.

Dossier #02: Justice

When hunting was still new and gates first began popping up all over the world, hunters weren't fighting magic beasts for monetary gain, but to protect civilians.

Jinchul was an average college student at the time.

He wasn't too interested in news about the dungeons, magic beasts, and hunters.

Even if the world had become obsessed with magic beasts, he knew that people could be just as cruel.

Evil had to be brought to justice, no matter what form it took.

Dossier #03: Fantasy Land

His single-minded focus remained, until...

He saw the broadcast.

Bloodied hunters crawled into corners as the amusement park was overrun, all of the joy it normally contained destroyed by the gate that had opened inside it.

Not knowing where to go, people scrambled and tried to escape, their final screams clashing with the happy music in a dissonant melody.

Then at last, the gate closed, and all that remained was a boy with a thousand-yard stare.

It was later discovered that the boy's father was a hunter.

The man had gone back for his wounded colleagues and hadn't been able to escape.

But the news only told of the victory the hunters had claimed over the magic beasts, and not of the comrades and bystanders they lost.

Families had been ripped apart.

Dossier #04: Putting Pieces Together

Jinchul sat for a while and pondered why he had wanted to judge the wicked.

It wasn't because he wanted the power to punish.

It was because he wanted the power to protect.

He began to look into exactly how many hunters were lost inside the gates.

And he started to think.

Hunters were risking their lives to protect people.

So who was protecting the hunters.?

Some hunters had banded together to form guilds to conquer these dungeons, but there was no system or institution to protect them beyond that.

Dossier #05: A New Dream

In that moment, he found a new purpose.

He wanted to protect those who had no one looking out for them.

Around that time, Go Gunhee had created the Korean Hunters Association based on America's Federal Bureau of Hunters.

Jinchul believed that this was the place that really needed him.

Jinchul worked hard to be able to stand in front of Go Gunhee, and when he did, he spoke about his aspiration with confidence.

When he saw the hint of a smile on Go Gunhee's face, he knew his dream had a place there.

But dreams are just dreams.

The reality of the Hunters Association was far more complicated.
