Tokai Teio (トウカイテイオー, Tōkai Teiō) is a character in the Umamusume franchise, serving as an co-protagonist for the second season of Umamusume: Pretty Derby.

Teio is a lively umamusume who highly admires Symboli Rudolf and aims for the Japanese Triple Crown.

In the anime, she initially aims to join Team Rigil and hangs out with Team Spica as a non-member.

After several events with the team, she reconsidered and joined Team Spica instead.

Season 2, which focuses more heavily on Teio, follows the events of her career as she's forced to contend with repeated injuries that impact her ability to race and her dream to follow in the footsteps of her idol, Symboli Rudolf.

Tokai Teio is a character in Umamusume: Pretty Derby.

She is a supporting character in Season 1 and Season 3 of the anime, and the co-protagonist of Season 2 alongside Mejiro McQueen.

Appearance

She is a small-sized umamusume with long, amber-brown hair tied in a ponytail and a pink ribbon.

She also has a streak of white hair in her bangs, which is slightly longer.

She played at the seaside a lot when she was a kid, and everyone called her the "Beach Monarch."

She is good at dancing with her "Teio Step." In real life, the Teio Step was a unique trotting gait that Teio used while in the paddock before races.

Her in-game personality is different than in the anime.

In-game Teio is depicted as a spoiled, a bit jealous, and cheeky brat, while her anime counterpart depicted as a more serious character.

Teio sired by Symboli Rudolf in the real life is reflected in Umamusume as Teio's adoration and idolization of the student council president along with the similar white streak of hair.

In March 2016, Cygames originally cast Anju Inami as the voice of Tokai Teio.

Inami performed as Teio in live events to promote Umamusume: Pretty Derby while it was in development, but was replaced by Machico in August 2016 due to scheduling conflicts.
