Decimus was once a brave human warrior. Defeated in a war between the Human Empire and the Immortal City, he was captured and enslaved by the enemy.

Unwilling to surrender, Decimus was thrown into the gladiatorial arena to fight other slaves and please the nobles of the Immortal City.

The nobles made a shameful promise—whoever survives the arena will be free.

Hearing this promise, the slaves fought for the chance to regain their freedom.

After several days of bloodshed, Decimus survived to the end by killing the last of his opponents.

However, instead of fulfilling their promise, the vile nobles donned a mask of undead for the champion, turning him into a living corpse.

From then on, Decimus's soul gets trapped in the mask and he has to fight endlessly leaving his flesh long decayed.

The Human Empire possibly refers to the Yalnor Kingdom, also known as the Old Empire.

There is an ongoing conflict between the Holy City of Yalnor and the Immortal City.

Knight Arlott, who was once a Knight of the Holylight, shares the same fate as Decimus.
