Damage, attack speed, classes and the game's combat terms
Arknights damage formula and combat rules
How damage is worked out
- PhysicalFormula: A − DEF after penetration, at least 5% of AHow it works: DEF is first lowered by flat DEF penetration (never below 0), then by the percentage penetration. Whatever is left comes straight off the hit, but a hit always deals at least 5% of the attack.
- ArtsFormula: A × (100 − RES after penetration) ÷ 100, at least 5% of AHow it works: RES works as a percentage cut. Flat RES penetration lowers it first (never below 0), then the percentage penetration, and the hit is cut by what remains. The 5% floor applies here too.
- ElementalFormula: A × (100 − elemental RES) ÷ 100, at least 5% of AHow it works: Elemental damage (Burn, Corrosion, Necrosis and Nervous Impairment build-up) is cut by the target's elemental damage resistance alone. DEF, RES and penetration don't touch it.
- TrueFormula: AHow it works: True damage ignores DEF and RES and lands as it is.
A is the attack's final ATK: the attacker's ATK times the skill's multiplier, plus any flat bonus. A buff that raises ATK by a percentage raises A before DEF is taken off, which is why high-DEF enemies punish weak hits far more than strong ones.
Attack speed
Attack interval = base attack interval × 100 ÷ ASPD, with ASPD held between 10 and 600. An operator at 100 ASPD attacks once per base interval; +100 ASPD halves the time between attacks, and nothing goes past 600.
