Is Dewey good?
A destroyer tied to 
Gridley. As long as she's alive your carriers take up to 10% less damage, and with Gridley in the same fleet she also raises her own firepower and boosts Gridley's firepower and reload.
The carrier protection works without Gridley, but on its own it's a step below similar escort skills, so she's much better as half of a pair.
