Nova (Banshee)'s dossier
Lost in the role.
Nova is one of Utgard's biggest stars, an award-winning actress as famous for her beauty as her talent. She throws herself into every role with an almost obsessive intensity, spending so much time in her characters' worlds that she sometimes loses track of where the performance ends and real life begins. To prepare for a role, Nova often shuts herself away for intensive rehearsals. She can slip effortlessly into any character, adapting her performance to whatever the part demands. Fans call her a chameleon: from one film to the next, she can seem like a completely different person. On camera, Nova always presents a flawless image: perfect makeup, fashionable clothes, a commanding presence, and carefully controlled expressions. She never leaves home without makeup, determined not to let the paparazzi catch her bare-faced. At home, Nova lets herself relax. She chats to her toys and improvises scenes, or gets her friends together to play cards late into the night.
A star in the making.
Nova grew up hearing how beautiful she was. Her parents expected great things of her, and over time, their hopes became her own, she wanted to be a star. After graduating, she got the break she'd hoped for. A talent scout discovered her, and she joined Midnight Sun Pictures, Utgard's largest film studio. Almost immediately, a prominent director took an interest in her and put her in the running for the female lead in an action film. But as soon as training began, she struggled. Her lines sounded forced, and her expressions were stiff. She couldn't connect with her character, and the director was constantly scolding her. Months went by with no improvement. Nova had never felt so defeated. She often found an empty corner of the studio where she could cry without being seen. It was then that she met Stella, a warm, outgoing fellow trainee.
False hope.
Stella said she'd studied the role and offered to rehearse with her. Her encouragement and advice helped Nova regain her confidence, and the two gradually became close friends. With Stella's help, Nova improved and began developing her own ideas about the character. She trusted Stella completely, discussing every detail of her performance and even sharing parts of the script that hadn't been made public. When Nova suggested a new approach, Stella calmly picked it apart, making it sound far too risky to attempt. Faced with one objection after another, Nova began to doubt herself. Nova's final audition went badly, and she failed to impress the director. Stella, meanwhile, performed using the very approach she'd persuaded Nova to abandon. It won her the lead.
The road to stardom.
Only then did Nova realize the friendship had been a lie from the start. Stella had used her to get her own big break. In her anger and grief, Banshee's divine power awakened within Nova, allowing her to bewitch people with her cries. But she refused to rely on that gift. To her, real skill was the one thing no one could take away. After that, Nova stopped trusting anyone. Determined to surpass Stella and become the best, she threw herself into grueling, immersive training. She lived and breathed her roles, honing her craft with an intensity that bordered on obsession. Two years later, Nova shot to fame as an award-winning actress known across the continent. Today, she trusts only what she can control. Acting is the one place she can truly let go and feel free.
