Win, Lose and Continue

The basic battle rules are as follows. You win when the HP of each enemy is reduced to 0, and you lose when the total HP of your allies drops to 0. If the total HP of your allies drops to 0, you can continue the battle by using one Dragon Stone.

Right after using a Continue, the unperformed actions of both allies and enemies in the turn in which your team HP reaches 0 will be skipped. The battle will resume from the next turn, and you will receive the following effects:

- HP of allies fully recovers - All allies' Ki +3 for 1 turn - Dokkan Gauge increases

*If a character "transforms" due to an Active Skill or through other means in the turn right after using a Continue, the Ki +3 effect from the Continue will not come into effect.

Continues cannot be used in certain stages.

Ki and Ki Spheres

During battle, your Ki Meter will rise according to the number of Ki Spheres you've obtained, thus determining your attack strength.

When you obtain Ki Spheres that are the same color as your Type, your Ki Meter will increase at double the usual rate and you will regain a small amount of HP.

The Ki in your Ki Meter is only valid for one turn, so you must obtain new Ki every turn.

Your Ki Meter may already contain Ki due to your character's skill or the effect of a previously landed-on Tile.

Special Ki Spheres

Special Ki Spheres, such as sweet treats and carrots, can be created by enemies' skills or Support Items.

The effects activated by obtaining a special Ki Sphere differ between character skills or Support Item effects.

Damage Ki Spheres

Damage Ki Spheres are special Ki Spheres with a bomb icon that are created by enemies' skills or Territory Skill effects. You will receive damage upon obtaining a Damage Ki Sphere, so make sure to check your remaining HP before collecting these Ki Spheres.

Damage received from Damage Ki Spheres will not reduce HP to 0.

When obtaining a Damage Ki Sphere that is the same color as the character's Type, HP will also be recovered at the same time.

Type and Guard

Each character has a Type. Below is the type compatibility chart:

  • STR (Red): Strong against PHY (Orange), weak against AGL (Blue)
  • AGL (Blue): Strong against STR (Red), weak against TEQ (Green)
  • TEQ (Green): Strong against AGL (Blue), weak against INT (Purple)
  • INT (Purple): Strong against TEQ (Green), weak against PHY (Orange)
  • PHY (Orange): Strong against INT (Purple), weak against STR (Red)

When you're up against a weaker Type, you'll do more damage, but when you're up against a stronger Type, the enemy will guard against your attack and you'll do less damage.

In addition, if the character is "Z-Awakened," then "Super" or "Extreme" is added to their Type. With either of these powered up Types, your damage against a weaker Type is increased, along with your endurance against a stronger Type.

When a battle takes place between two "Super" Types, or two "Extreme" Types, the above chart still applies.

When a "Super" Type attacks an "Extreme" Type, or an "Extreme" Type attacks a "Super" Type, in both situations attack damage increases.

Target

You can switch which opponent you wish to attack by tapping the opponent's icon on the top of your battle screen.

The number on top of the enemy's icon indicates the number of turns left until the enemy's attack. The enemy will attack on the turn that this number reaches 0.

Fight strategically by taking the characters' Types and attack order into consideration.

You can also tap the enemy icons at the bottom of the battle screen to change the target you wish to attack.

In addition, you can check the enemy's skills and status by tapping and holding the enemy's character icon.

The "Enemy Skill" section displays the enemy's skills and the "Enemy Status" section displays the change in the enemy's status during battle.

Attack and Defense

Your characters' attack order is displayed in the lower portion of the battle screen. The order begins on the left and continues on to the right.

You can change the attack order of those characters whose Ki Sphere path has not yet been chosen.

When the enemy is the first to attack, they will attack the character on the far left. In all other cases, enemies will target the "character who attacked just before them."

Be aware of the placing of the enemies' attack icons and strategize against this by placing characters with higher defense against them.

Super Attack

When your character's Ki Meter reaches a certain level, that character's Super Attack will be activated.

The required amount of Ki can be checked on each character's Character Details screen.

For example, this character needs 4 Ki Spheres to attack at 100% power, and 12 Ki Spheres to launch their Super Attack, according to the image above.

Ki Blasts

Super Attacks displaying this icon are classified in the Ki Blasts category.

Dokkan Mode

When the Dokkan Gauge below your HP bar is full and your character's Super Attack is activated, you will enter Dokkan Mode.

Dokkan Mode will strengthen your Super Attack and allow it to damage all your opponents.

The Dokkan Gauge increases as you obtain Ki Spheres. When you obtain Ki spheres that are the same color as your Type, the Dokkan Gauge will increase twice as much as usual.

The Dokkan Gauge will reset once you leave a stage.

Battle Icons

During battle, a character's stats may change and the character may suffer abnormal effects due to characters' or enemies' skills. In addition, certain enemy skills can nullify specific attacks or actions.

These stat and status changes will be indicated by icons shown on the character's icon. You can check the skills that the enemy has activated by tapping and holding the enemy's character icon.

Giant Form, Giant Ape & Rage

Certain characters can turn into "Giant Form" (Giant Form, Giant Ape, Rage, etc.) with their Passive Skills.

Turning into "Giant Form" will trigger the following effects: - The character will become your only active character. - The character will perform all attacks. - The character will receive a massive ATK boost and will become immune to damage and status effects.

HP, ATK and DEF raised through Hidden Potential activation as well as Potential Skills such as "Combo Attack" and "Critical Hit" are still valid during Giant Form Transformation.

There is a set probability that the transformation may end at the end of each turn if the duration of the transformation is not specified.

In addition to "Giant Form", "Giant Ape" and "Rage", Giant Form Transformation also includes "Core appears", "break Phantom Majin's Seal", etc.

The requirement(s), probability and maximum number of Giant Form Transformations differ between characters. The count for the number of times a character can turn into Giant Form will reset when the battle ends.

During Giant Form mode, Support Items cannot be used, and one's HP will not be recovered even after attaining Ki Spheres of the character's Type. Moreover, the Dokkan Gauge will be frozen, and Dokkan Mode will not be triggered even if the Dokkan Gauge is full when the Giant Form mode is activated.

The effect of the character's skills, such as Passive Skill, may change during Giant Form Transformation.

Turns passed during Giant Form state will not be counted.

Active Skill

What Are Active Skills?

These are special skills that belong only to certain characters. They can be activated in battle when certain conditions are met.

Activating Active Skills

Tap the icon of a character whose Active Skill is ready to be activated and swipe up. Let go when "Release!" appears to activate the skill.

Unit Super Attack

What Are Unit Super Attacks?

These are special Super Attacks that belong only to certain characters. They will be activated in battle once certain conditions are met. The activation of a Unit Super Attack that has a more powerful effect will be prioritized. If the effects are the same, the Unit Super Attack triggered by the ally furthest to the left will be prioritized.

When the activation conditions are met, an animation with a scene similar to the one shown below will be played. Please note that a character can only launch a Unit Super Attack once per turn.

Activation Conditions

The activation conditions differ between Unit Super Attacks. You can check the activation conditions on each character's "Character Details" page.

Revival Skill

What Is the Revival Skill?

This is a special skill that belongs only to certain characters. After certain conditions are met in battle, it will activate and revive all characters on your team by restoring HP once only when HP has fallen to 0.

The Revival Skill can be activated even in stages where "Continues" are not allowed, with some exceptions.

Although it can only be activated once per battle, returning to the map will reset the revival count, allowing you to activate the Revival Skill again in your next battle. Note that even if more than one character on your team has a Revival Skill, only one of the characters' Revival Skills can be activated in a single battle.

Revived characters will retain effects that were applied to them before they were revived, such as ATK or DEF boosting/reducing effects.

If your HP once again falls to 0 after revival, the "Continue" pop-up message will appear. On stages that do not allow "Continues", it will be Game Over.

Visual Change

What Is a Visual Change?

This is a special trick that belongs only to certain characters. The characters will undergo a change in appearance when certain conditions are met in battle.

Characters that undergo visual changes will retain effects that were applied to them before the change, such as ATK or DEF boosting/reducing effects.

You can check the "Character Details" page to see which characters are capable of undergoing visual changes.

Domain

What Is a Domain?

A Domain can apply effects to all characters in battle, enemies and allies alike. Every Domain has its own creation conditions, and a Domain will be created in battle once its conditions are met.

The creation conditions differ based on each character's skills. The background will change once a Domain is created.

A Domain and its effects only last for a given number of turns, after which the background returns to normal and the effects end.

You can check the effects of a Domain by tapping the Domain icon found on the battle screen or on the "Character Details" page.

If there is already a Domain created in battle, it cannot be replaced by a new Domain even if the new Domain's creation conditions are met.

Domains will remain effective in the following situations: - When entering the next phase - When revived - After using a Continue

When a character performs Giant Form Transformation, the count for the number of turns that have elapsed in a Domain will be paused, and Giant Form state will be entered. During Giant Form state, the effects of a Domain will not take effect. The Domain will return after the Giant Form state ends.

If the creation conditions of multiple Domains are met at the same time, the Domain of the character furthest to the left will be created.

Territory Skill

What Are Territory Skills?

Territory Skills can activate effects that give an advantage to enemies or effects that are relatively detrimental to your characters in battle.

The skill effects differ between Territory Skills. The icons of the effects activated by Territory Skills are framed by dashed lines.

An icon for Territory Skills will be displayed when a Territory Skill is activated, and you can check the Territory Skill's effects and end conditions by tapping the icon.

Territory Skills have end conditions. When a Domain is created, the activation of a Territory Skill will end. Once the activation of the Domain is over, the Territory Skill will be activated again.

If a character enters Giant Form state while the Domain is active, the Territory Skill will be activated since the effects of a Domain do not take effect during Giant Form state. After the Giant Form state ends, the Domain will return and the activation of the Territory Skill will end.

Reversible Exchange

What Is Reversible Exchange?

This is a special skill that belongs only to certain characters. It can be activated in battle once certain conditions are met.

Tapping the "Reversible Exchange" button of a character who has met the activation conditions allows you to switch the character with another character.

The activation conditions and character stats can be viewed in "Character Details".

With some exceptions, the effects of an enemy Super Attack and enemy skill do not carry over after Reversible Exchange. However, if you activate Reversible Exchange again within a turn the effects take effect, they will be applied again.

Reversible Exchange cannot be performed when a character is stunned.

If a character's attack order cannot be switched, it will continue to be in effect even after Reversible Exchange.

- Type In general, the characters before and after Reversible Exchange will be of the same Type.

- Active Skill The Active Skill can only be activated once, regardless of which character activates it.

- Passive Skill In general, the Passive Skill of the character who is not present in battle will not be activated.

- Link Skills Link Skills will be activated when a character before Reversible Exchange is placed alongside a character after Reversible Exchange.

EX Super Attack

What Are EX Super Attacks?

These are special Super Attacks that belong only to certain characters. EX Super Attacks may be activated once certain conditions are met. Even if "SUPER ATK" or "U. Super ATK" is displayed, there is still a chance for a character to activate an EX Super Attack as long as its activation conditions are met. An EX Super Attack can only be activated once per turn, with some exceptions.

Activation Conditions

The activation conditions differ between EX Super Attacks. You can check the activation conditions on each character's "Character Details" page.

When "1st attack" is specified in an activation condition, it does not include attacks activated by skills and effects such as Active Skills, Standby Skills and counterattacks.

When "Super Attack" is specified in an activation condition, it also includes Ultra Super Attacks.

Animation Speed in Battle

You can adjust the animation speed of EX Super Attacks in the "Options" menu. If the animation speed is set to "Speed Up", the voices of EX Super Attacks will not be played.

Skills

Leader Skills

Leader skills are unique abilities which are activated by placing The character in the Leader slot.

When a Leader belonging to a Friend accompanies you on a quest, that character's Leader Skill will be activated as well.

The effects of Leader Skills will be active even if the Leader is not participating in the attack.

There are some events which have a condition where "The Leader Skill of the selected Friend will not be activated".

Passive Skills

Passive Skills are special abilities that activate in battle under certain conditions.

A Passive Skill is activated during the attacking turn of the character to whom it belongs. Activation conditions and the timing of effects differ from skill to skill.

You can check a Passive Skill's effects and activation conditions in the "Passive Skill" section on the "Character Details" page.

A Passive Skill will have no effect on enemies who can nullify its effects, even if the activation conditions have been met (including effects that are guaranteed to be triggered).

In the case of skills that specify a particular character name, it is possible that future characters are also excluded from the list of applicable characters even if that is not specified in the skill description.

Super Attack Type

Super Attacks are divided into a variety of types.

Each Super Attack belongs to a corresponding Super Attack type.

You can sort characters by Super Attack types using the filter. Tap the icon of a Super Attack type, and characters whose Super Attacks belong to the selected type will be displayed.

If a character's Super Attack changes due to Transformation or Absorption, the character will be filtered based on the Super Attack type before Transformation.

If a character's Super Attack changes due to chance or the Ki collected, the character will be filtered based on all the Super Attacks' types.

If a character has an Active Skill that can be activated as a Super Attack, the character will also be filtered based on the Super Attack type which the Active Skill belongs to. When a character has an Active Skill and a Super Attack that belong to different Super Attack types, the character will be categorized into both groups.

Active Skill

What Are Active Skills?

These are special skills that belong only to certain characters. They can be activated in battle at any time once certain conditions are met. The conditions required to activate Active Skills differ from skill to skill, as do their effects.

You can check the activation conditions and the skill's effects from "Active Skill" found on the "Character Details" page. In general, Active Skills can be used once per battle.

The "Active Skill" option will not appear for characters who do not possess an Active Skill.

Standby Skill

Standby Skills

These are special skills that belong only to certain characters.

Once the activation conditions are met, Standby Skills can be activated at any time by swiping the character icon downwards. The conditions required to activate Standby Skills differ from skill to skill, as do their effects. In general, Standby Skills can be used once per battle.

Standby Mode

Activating a Standby Skill causes it to enter Standby Mode. A Finish Effect can be activated when certain conditions are met while in Standby Mode.

You can check a Standby Skill's activation conditions and effects on the "Character Details" page or by tapping the UI displayed during battles.

- Exiting Standby Mode Standby Mode will end after the Finish Effect is activated or after the given number of turns for Standby Mode have passed. With some exceptions, a character will return to its form before the activation of the Standby Skill when Standby Mode is over.

Turns in Standby Mode will not elapse while in Giant Form.

Standby Skills of the same type cannot be activated repeatedly.

Standby Mode Types

A special UI exclusive to that type of Standby Mode will appear on the battle screen during Standby Mode.

- Charge

During Standby Mode, the charge count will increase if the charge conditions are met. The conditions and the amount charged differ from skill to skill. Actions by all characters participating in battle contribute to the count.

A Finish Effect can be activated at any time except the turn in which Standby Mode was entered. Once the count reaches the maximum, "full charge" state is reached, and the Finish Effect changes. The count can still increase after it reaches the maximum, and additional change may occur to the effect of the Finish Effect when the count exceeds the maximum.

When in Giant Form, the number of Ki Spheres obtained will not be added to the count.

Revival Counterattack

A Revival Counterattack will be automatically activated when KO'd in Standby Mode. The enemy who delivered the K.O. attack will be targeted.

Standby Skills with a Revival Counterattack cannot be activated if a Revival Skill is already activated. When another character's Revival Skill is activated during Standby Mode, the Revival Counterattack can no longer be launched and Standby Mode will end.

- Finish Effect (Counterattack)

Finish Effects (Counterattack) will automatically activate when being attacked in Standby Mode. If a Finish Effect (Counterattack) is already activated, it will not activate again if you receive another attack in the same turn.

Transformation

What Is Transformation?

This is a Passive Skill that belongs to certain characters. It can only be activated in battle during the character's attacking turn when certain conditions are met. The conditions required to activate Transformation differ from skill to skill. Transformation can only be used once per battle.

Some characters can deactivate then reactivate their Transformation in the same battle. The Transformation will be deactivated automatically when a battle ends.

You can check the activation conditions and the character's stats after Transformation by tapping the "Transformation Button" ("Fusion Button" in the image) found at the top of the "Character Details" page.

The "Transformation Button" will not appear for characters who do not possess a Transformation.

- Performing Link Skills After Transformation Characters who can Transform (Fusion, Special Fusion etc.) can still activate their Link Skills when placed next to characters with the same name, but different second name, after Transformation.

Turns that pass during special conditions, such as Giant Ape mode, will not be counted toward the required turns necessary for Transformation.

- When a Leader Skill is no longer applicable after Transformation Leader Skills may no longer apply to a character after the character transforms. While HP will not be affected, the character's ATK and DEF will change. Likewise, when a character transforms and a Leader Skill becomes applicable to the character, the character's HP will not change, but ATK and DEF will.

Category

Category defines different groups to which characters belong.

Building your teams with characters in the same Category triggers Special Effects in certain stages or battles. The activated Special Effect will differ between Categories.

Please note that some characters may not belong to any Categories.

Please note that Categories are subject to be added or changed without prior notice.
