Chime Gen

Background

Chime was artificially conceived and incubated on a test tube by Herzog, using Uesugi Koeru's genes, which contained the blood of the White Queen Izanami.

He was born in Black Swan Bay in 1985 along with his brother Chisei, his younger sister Erii was born six years after that.

Both Chime and Erii went through pontine split surgery to keep them under control, but it also split Chime's personality in two, one war morally uptight while the other desired with no limitations.

As a young child, he was taken to Japan along with his siblings by Bondarev, who later abandoned them.

Chime and Chisei grew up struggling to survive in a small town, Chime admired and relied on his older brother for many things.

One day, they were found by Herzog, who introduced himself as Masamune Tachibana.

He told the siblings that they were the last descendants of the extinct Gen family of the Yamata no Orochi.

Tachibana only took Chisei with him, leaving Chime in foster care.

Kazama Ruri

When he was 17 years old, he was visited by a man named Osho (Herzog in disguise) who took him under his wing, giving Chime enhancing drugs to awaken his most violent draconic traits.

Thanks to this, his second personality finally surfaced, with the name of Kazama Ruri.

Kazama terrorized the town, he killed thirteen young women in two months and used chemicals to plasticize their bodies.

When Chisei, now a member of the execution bureau heard about this, he was sent to the town to hunt down the rogue Oni.

That night, the town received girls from the city and Ruri dressed as a Miko to infiltrate their dormitory.

Ruri danced and induced the girls into a trance, he kissed them and managed to kill one with a small blade that he hid in his mouth.

Chisei was spying on him and jumped from the roof, wounding Ruri with his sword, when he went for a second strike, Ruri used one of the girls around him as a human shield and Chisei killed her by accident.

Ruri hid on an abandoned warehouse that he discovered with his brother when they were children and started plasticizing one of his latest victims while singing and imitating the girl's mannerisms.

Much to his surprise, he heard a familiar voice calling his name.

At that moment, Chime's personality resurfaced and saw Chisei, but before he could greet him, his brother fatally stabbed him.

"Brother, you. . . Are you back? ": -Chime's last words to Chisei.

Chisei left Chime's body at the bottom of a well and sealed it with cast iron.

A Clan of Devils

Chime survived thanks to his strong heritage and joined the Oni Clan under the leadership of Osho.

At first, he refused to serve Osho and tried to kill him multiple times, failing at every attempt.

In the following years, he fought to protect his fellow Oni from the Yamata no Orochi and for ten years, they expanded the criminal organization, gaining territory all across Japan.

He also met Sakurai Kogure and the two developed romantic feelings for each other.

Chime became an enigmatic figure among the Oni Clan and his identity as their dragon lord remained secret.

He took residence at the Bliss Hall, a casino managed by Kogure that served as the Oni Clan's main base of operations.

Chime enjoyed singing and performing theatre in his spare time.

He also became the top female-oriented entertainer in Japan, asking only for a meal as payment, he would make tours for women and even sing for them, the only evidence of the encounters that he left behind was a card with his name on it.

Switching sides

After Cassell's failed mission in the Japanese trench, the Yamata no Orochi rebelled against the Secret Party and started an operation that almost eradicated the Oni Clan in a matter of days, led by Chisei as their new patriarch.

Chime was forced to escape after the Orochi attacked the Bliss Hall.

Kogure stayed behind to distract them, and Chime left her vials with molotov cocktails.

She was promptly killed by Chisei in a fight.

That night, Chime met with Osho and protested when his mentor referred to Kogure and the rest of the Oni as "the food we eat", putting a knife to his throat and making him bleed.

Osho explained Kogure's feelings to Chime, and he abandoned his master, drinking cocktail after cocktail, he pictured himself drinking with Kogure while he wandered through the city.

Chime showed up in Takamagahara, where he introduced himself to Caesar Gattuso and Chu Zihang, as the famous art performer and cosplayer Kazama Ruri, inviting them and an absent Lu Mingfei to his kabuki performance, the invitations had drawings from the secret hall of murals of the Yamata no Orochi, immediately capturing Caesar's interest.

He also appeased an angry customer by making breakfast for her.

Humpback Whale (the club owner) ordered his employees to bring every ingredient in their kitchen for Chime and his dish was very well received.

He formed an alliance with the Aces, hoping to reconnect with Chisei.

When Caesar asked about Osho, Chime told them about Herzog and Black Swan Bay, and that he believed that he was the one behind Osho's mask.

The wood clappers

One night, Herzog faked a call between his two personas, Osho and Tachibana, the former inviting the latter to the Tokyo Sky Tower to negotiate, Kazama Ruri eavesdropped, and he told the Aces about it, who created an elaborate plan to spy on the meeting.

That night, Osho (a double with a mask) and Tachibana's negotiation turned into a fight, and Osho was about to lose it, so he jumped out of a window and Ruri used a glider to meet him mid-air, slicing him in half with his blade.

Herzog faked Tachibana's death as well, later that night.

Ruri decided to celebrate his newly achieved freedom by going to the shopping mall and getting new clothes, but much to his horror, he was intercepted by Osho on his way out.

Osho used the wood clappers to immobilize Ruri and he went back to being Chime, but before Osho could capture him, Caesar and Chu Zihang appeared and drove the demon away, taking Chime back to Takamagahara with them.

Chime remained silent for days, he started to believe that Osho was invincible, he insisted that the best way to solve their situation was to contact Chisei and ask for a meeting with him, so they could make amends and fight Osho together.

Before they could decide, the Yamata no Orochi found them and even brought Zero with them.

Kotaro Fuma agreed for a meeting with Chisei due to Su Enxi's economical influence in the Japanese mafia.

Enxi prepared by organizing a great event, and Chisei agreed to show up, but their meeting was interrupted by a tsunami alert.

Tokyo was partially flooded, and the city was quickly evacuated.

Chime was brought down again when Osho played the sound of the wood clappers on the club's sound system.

Lu Mingfei returned for him and carried him on his back.

Before they could escape, they were intercepted by a Death Servitor and Chime demanded to fight it alone, he told Mingfei to run away and complimented the fiery look in his eyes.

Once he recovered, Kazama Ruri took control of his body, he slayed the servitor, killed Kotaro Fuma and wounded Chisei, forcing him to retreat.

The queen's resurrection

Chime met Osho in the Red Well, the tsunami was caused by the White Dragon Queen's resurrection, and they eagerly waited for it to rise up from the bottom of the well.

An Eight-headed snake emerged and Ruri cut all of its heads with ease.

A member of the Oni Clan extracted Izanami's parasite form the snake's corpse.

Chisei showed up with his last men in a helicopter and they killed all of the Oni Clan's fighters on sight while Chisei killed Osho himself.

Ruri took advantage of the situation to catch the parasite and crush it, before Chisei could fight him, Ruri engulfed him in a dream-like vision.

The dream could cause harm to Chisei's physical body, and Ruri intended to kill him while showing him visions of his past, however, Chisei's own righteousness influenced the dream and he managed to weaken Ruri as well.

Death

Chime resurfaced and woke up, Chisei didn't, in front of them Osho had just arrived at the Red Well with an unconscious Erii.

Osho decided to reveal his plan to Chime for his own satisfaction, under his mask was the face of Masamune Tachibana, who was indeed Herzog.

He had been manipulating both sides of the war and using doubles to fake Osho's death multiple times.

Much to Chime's dismay, he also learned that he wasn't actually unstable, and his violent traits were the result of Herzog's serums.

He also learned that Erii was his real sister.

Right before Herzog could declare victory, he noticed that Ruri had killed the parasite.

Herzog was furious, and he missed the moment when the parasite suddenly moved on its own and attached itself to Erii.

Erii started going through a draconization process, revealing his twisted nature, Herzog grabbed her waist and kissed her, before sending her up in the air to be covered in a cocoon made of blood-draining filaments.

Herzog decided to offer the Gen brothers as nourishment and took advantage of their weakened state to drag them to the cocoon.

Chime and Chisei's blood were drained, and they quickly died.

Herzog transfused Erii's blood to his own body, leaving her with nothing but the parasite's toxins, which killed her as well.

This was the culmination of Herzog's plans, he transformed into a new White Dragon King, but he was quickly slain by the Secret Party, specifically his old test subjects Number Zero and Renata, as well as Lu Mingfei and the Gattuso Family's orbital weapon.

Chime was buried with his brother on the back of the mountain where the Shiraha Tengu Shrine was located.

It was said that their bodies hugged one another when they were found and they remained like that at the grave.
