Mordo
MysticD tier
Introduction
Mordo is a character in Marvel Contest of Champions. Mordo's role is Mystic.
On our Marvel Contest of Champions tier list Mordo is D tier, 259th of the 297 characters ranked, from where 8 current tier lists put Mordo.
Is Mordo good?
Mordo counters out of a Stun automatically, and he's immune to the Ability Accuracy drops that would normally stop that counter, so he can fire back even against opponents built to shut it down. His Attack Rating and Energy Damage climb when the opponent is carrying their own Buffs, but he needs steady Heavy Attacks to really cash in, and losing his own Buffs tanks his output.
We rank him D since he has few tools to strip troublesome Buffs and common Debuffs like Power Sting and Petrify go right at his power generation and Regen.
Strengths
- Counter-attacks out of a Stun no matter what, ignoring passive Ability Accuracy reduction
- Gains Attack Rating and Energy Damage from the opponent's own Buffs
Weaknesses
- Has few ways to strip the opponent's Buffs
- Power Sting and Petrify punish his Power generation and Regeneration
- Needs steady Heavy Attacks to hit his damage ceiling
- Slow disables his Astral Evade, and he can't remove True Accuracy passives
Background
An advanced student of the mystic arts and fellow pupil of The Ancient One, Karl Mordo saw the potential in the fledgling apprentice Stephen Strange and took him under his wing when the one-time neurosurgeon first sought healing.
Like Strange, Mordo came to Kamar-Taj lost and broken.
The Ancient One helped channel Mordo's anger and lead him down the path to enlightenment.
While Mordo sees a bit of himself in Strange, his reason for vetting him is much shrewder — in the fight against unknowable darkness, Kamar-Taj needs all the help it can muster.
