Recently, I've been recalling the days when I'd lead you around the garden and teach you how to tell the plants apart.

I am ashamed to say that only long after I left Athenius did I realize there are times when perfumes are of no use.

'The Convalescent Garden is just as it sounds: a garden of flowers that cast a spell on me, and where I thought the scent of Athenius still lingered.

Only when I went to a real battlefield, when I visited those makeshift hospitals with all their medical supplies exhausted, did I try mixing soothing perfumes for the wounded.

But no matter how strong the scent, they could not mask the stench of gunsmoke, blood, and necrosis.

"Oripathy patients also contribute to my feelings of helplessness.

I no longer remember how it felt when I got infected, but I do remember wanting you to take that valuable plant back.

But on Rhodes Island, I've seen so many tormented by Oripathy...

I do not regret what I did, but I too hope no one else will go through the pain I have experienced.

Perfumes remain important to me, and are my distinctive trait as a doctor.

I will continue to delve deeper into our Minoan botanical traditions.

That has always been my goal, and whether I inherit the Athopoulou family or not has no bearing on the matter.

But our traditions... You must be aware of how much we, be it our family or Minos as a whole, differ from 'today'.

There are pros and cons, but I believe we must face them head-on to fully understand why they exist in the first place.

I left Athenius filled with hatred, and while I've been feeling nostalgia for a long time, still I harbored hesitation.

I didn't know what to think or do when I met you or our parents again.

But as of now, I will no longer doubt myself.

I will return home as a doctor, and perform a doctor's duties."

Lena puts down her pen and seals the letter, destined to never be sent.

She is less than a day's journey away from Athenius, so very close to her homeland.

A faint mix of thyme and marjoram wafts through the sky, like the twin moons breathing gently in the night.

She starts packing her belongings, organizing her frequently used medicine, and testing the Rhodes Island-issued stethoscope and detector bands, before finally putting away the perfume bottle she's always had.

Her past self wouldn't have brought so many things on a trip, but the more she practices, the more items she packs.

Essential and heavy, but they also put her at ease.

Surely her hometown has changed a lot, as well as the kin she was once close to.

But some things will never change.
