Introduction

Sesa is a 5-star character in Arknights. Sesa's weapon type is Grenades and class is Sniper. Faction: Sargon.

On our Arknights tier list Sesa is B tier, 82nd of the 293 characters ranked, from where 14 current tier lists put Sesa.

Is Sesa good?

Sesa deals splash damage at long range, especially after Elite 2, and Delayed Concussive Parts hits harder while slowing down the attack speed of anything caught in the blast. His talent, Vulnerability Deconstruction, makes blocked enemies take extra physical damage, which pairs naturally with high-block-count Defenders bunching enemies up for the rest of your physical damage dealers to punish.

He's a solid B, though his DP cost climbs with every promotion, his attacks come slowly, and he struggles against high-DEF enemies unless something else is buffing or debuffing the fight.

Pairs well with: Defenders (high block count); other Physical DPS Operators.

Strengths

  • Deals splash damage at long range, especially at Elite 2
  • Delayed Concussive Parts hits hard and slows enemy attack speed
  • Talent amplifies physical damage against blocked enemies
  • Pairs well with Defenders and other physical damage dealers

Weaknesses

  • DP cost climbs with each promotion
  • High attack interval
  • Weak against high-DEF enemies without outside help
  • Delayed detonation is unreliable against fast-moving enemies

Profile

Sesa is a male Vouivre. His birthday is April 22nd, and he stands 189 cm tall. Sesa is voiced by Jack Ayres in English, Yuuki Ono in Japanese, and Ryu Seung-gon in Korean.

Background

Sesa's background, as seen from his files, bears many similarities to that of Alfred Nobel:

Both have a younger brother who helped them out and died in an explosion.

Both are engaged in arms industry but later despises warfare.

Both are deeply into philosophy and literature.

Sesa's background is also similar to that of J.

Robert Oppenheimer, who shares the same birthday of April 22:

Both have a less accomplished younger brother.

Both came from a wealthy family.

Both had connections with a secrect national project on a weapon of mass destruction (the Manhattan Project for Oppenheimer's case and Columbia's secret weapon project in Sesa's brother's case).

Both are pacifists who tried to stop the inevitable impact of modern wafare.

Both are also deeply into philosophy and literature; Oppenheimer notably quotes Bhagavad Gita during the Trinity test, with the most famous being "Now I have become Death, the destroyer of worlds."

Sesa being named after a Hindu creature likely refers to Oppenheimer's obsession with Hinduism.

Sesa is named after Shesha, a serpentine demigod and the king of all naga in Hindu mythology.

Shesha is thought to have multiple heads, similar to the dragon-like being featured in Sesa's Elite 2 artwork.

Additionally, Shesha is often depicted as a hooded snake, which may explain some features of Sesa's design, such as his silver hood or high collar.

Sesa's background, as shown in his files, bears many similarities to that of Alfred Nobel:

Both were previously engaged in the arms industry and would later despise warfare.

Sesa also shares a lot in common with J.

Robert Oppenheimer, with whom he shares a birth date (April 22):

Both came from wealthy families.

Both had connections with a secret national project on a weapon of mass destruction (the Manhattan Project in Oppenheimer's case and Columbia's secret weapon project in Sesa's brother's case).

Both are pacifists who tried to stop the inevitable impact of modern warfare.

Both are also deeply into philosophy and literature; Oppenheimer notably quoted Bhagavad Gita during the Trinity test, with the most famous being "Now I have become Death, the destroyer of worlds."

Sesa being named after an entity in Hindu mythology is a likely reference to Oppenheimer's obsession with Hinduism.

"This isn't what we agreed on. These aren't Blacksteel guns!"

"Give it up! Where am I gonna get Blacksteel from?

We lost a guy just trying to get this stuff."

"I need guns I can use! This shit is as good to me as a hammer!" The Vouivre bossman gets angrier, and an assortment of Vouivran musclemen line up behind him.

"How are you going to use a gun if you can't do Originium Arts?

Take it or leave it, I don't refund deposits." The Sarkaz merchant waves his hand, and one after another, his partners draw their blades behind him.

"I can fix this."

As the hostility boils over, a young Vouivran man comes out from the corner.

His face is stony, his build frail enough to not even seem Vouivre, and his head of red hair majorly garish.

"I can make those guns usable, and it'd only cost you this much."

Both sides seem convinced by this conservative bid, and make way for him to approach.

They watch as the youngster comes up, cracks open the toolkit he keeps on him, and picks up one of the guns.

The complete firearm is reduced to parts in his hands, before becoming whole again.

His movements aren't fast by any measure, but nobody can tell what happened.

The youngster hands the bossman the assembled gun, who doubtfully accepts it.

After cautiously fumbling with it, he points the muzzle at the air and pulls the trigger.

A clear gunshot resounds through the whole black market.

"It can only fire one shot. If you want it completely functional, I'll have to take it back to my workshop."

Everyone present was ready to slit throats a moment ago, but now all are in unanimous accord.

A dozen pairs of eyes focus on the youngster, as if they've found something worth far more than the goods.

"Boy, what did you do just now?"

"Don't be twitchy, just hand it over and nothing bad will happen."

As everyone closes in step by step, he suddenly grins and laughs:

"You foolish philistines! Trying to get a peek of true power with your petite experience?

Let me tell you, weapons have souls! Only the truly wise, the truly noble can resonate with them!"

For a moment, the chaotic scene once again falls quiet as can be.

"Lunatic," the Sarkaz spits.

The bossman pulls a whole pile of cash from his briefcase and hands it to the youngster, while the Sarkaz merchant takes the rest and leaves, not bothering with a single glance back.

"Boy, you can keep your secrets if you want.

I'll give you money and a workspace, and you work for me.

How does that sound?" He offers an invitation to the bizarre youth.

"Deal."

The youngster takes up residence in the workroom the bossman gives him.

Late at night, he carefully fills a notepad with the quantity and models of the guns from earlier that day, annotated with "Columbian make, smuggled into Sargon by Sarkaz merchant, circumstances unclear."

"Good. We start from here."
