Richmond leans on torpedoes instead of gunfire, which suits a budget, manually piloted fleet. Her anti-air runs weak even by light cruiser standards, and she's locked behind stage 8 drops, so she's slow to farm. She lands at D tier as a niche pick rather than a fleet mainstay.

The Omaha-class cruisers were considered too outdated to partake in the main part of the Second World War.

While that may be true, Richmond has a more exciting naval history during the war than most of her sisters.

She performed escort duties for a short time before becoming the flagship for Task Group 16.6, a cruiser-destroyer fleet designated in setting a blockade around the Alaskan Islands.

The Japanese had already managed to occupy some and were trying to move further.

She and the rest of TG 16.6 frequently shelled the occupied islands while blocking Japanese vessels from moving farther along, earning 2 Battle Stars for her service.
