Jiang Jiuli gets more dangerous the lower his HP drops. Both Sky Smash and Earth Shatter burn his own health to deal damage that scales up as he gets weaker, and Earth Shatter also taunts the whole enemy team onto him. Demon Reborn lets him soak single-target damage meant for allies, with the payoff growing the lower his HP goes, and he can't really be killed the normal way, since taking a lethal hit throws him into an uncontrollable Demon Mode that smashes random enemies before he reverts back.

That fearless, self-damaging scaling is why he rates A.

Career 1: Jiang Jiuli is extremely destructive when he goes berserk.

It’s usually something trivial, an uncooperative zipper, a noisy neighbor, being stuck in traffic, and you simply snap.

For most people, it’s not a big issue, but for Jiuli, it can be disastrous.

Being imbued with the power of Chiyou, every time Jiuli snaps, he goes completely berserk, turning into a supercharged beast that attacks anything and everything indifferently.

To avoid that, he does a lot of things to keep his cool, including regular practice playing the zither and calming meditation.

Career 2: Jiang Jiuli is a beast in battles.

Jiang Jiuli is like a timed bomb. Sooner or later he’s gonna blow up, but the question is when.

He keeps all emotions in check, except for in battle, where he is fully unleashed like a beast.

When all shackles of sanity are gone, his hidden self raises its frenzied head.

Jiuli becomes an unstoppable force that crushes everything and everyone in his path.

In a sense, the Demon Jiuli has become an urban legend, one that everyone must watch out for.

Career 3: His power is more of a curse than a blessing.

Many Espers enjoy their powers, but Jiang Jiuli sees his as a curse.

Ever since his transformation, Jiuli has experienced the same nightmare over and over again.

In the dream, he loses control and rips his family apart in front of his own eyes.

To avoid that from ever happening, Jiuli keeps his power in check the whole time.

To do this, he even willingly surrendered himself to the Esper Union to be put in an artificially induced slumber.

Unfortunately, it hasn’t really helped. He committed what he feared in his sleep, only learning about it seven years later when he finally woke up.

He hates the Union for what it did and what it failed to do.

Nowadays, Jiuli uses his rage as a weapon to seek revenge against the Union.

Career 4: Jiang Jiuli is constantly pained by the conflict inside him.

Jiang Jiuli depends on his best friend Nicole to keep his temper in check.

Sometimes, Nicole wonders why Jiuli tries so hard to keep his cool if all he really seeks is total destruction.

Jiuli never gave a straight answer to that question.

He always changes the subject when it comes up.

He would also distract Nicole with small gifts like an incense sachet or invite her to meditate together.

She has given up asking about it.

They have been in many battles together and Nicole understands the pain in Jiuli’s heart.

Revenge may just be an excuse for him to seek his own destruction.

Perhaps it will be his final rebellious act against fate and the world.
