Career 1: The doll and the stoic girl. "This is a gift for you."

Whenever these words are heard in the Esper Union, there would always a stoic-looking young lady holding a doll––

––and opposite her would be someone retreating in alarm or looking both amused and puzzled.

"Didn't the teacher say that giving gifts is a good way of showing friendliness and building closer ties with others?"

Mei gazes at the people running off in a haste.

Confused, she looks at the doll in her hands, which is looking back at her with the same innocent gaze.

"… Forget it. Let's go watch some plants instead."

Bringing pickles that she made herself, Mei once again sets off on her new mission, alone and indifferent.

Career 2: A spellcaster's gains and losses.

She was on an expedition with her parents in the rainforest, studying her favorite plants.

Suddenly, Miramon emerged out of the bushes and made her an orphan.

Even with powerful plant spells, Mei was unable to extricate herself from this pain.

To survive, she became a bounty hunter; but spells can not only work against monsters, but are also effective on people.

Initially, Mei was extremely against the idea.

However, the more she uses her divine power, the more the pain of losing her family or her resistance against the idea fades.

The spells seem to have backfired and eroded Mei.

Her human emotions slowly dissipate, making her the "cold-blooded spellcaster" as people would call her.

Career 3: No longer wanting to lose oneself.

During a job to intercept supplies of the Esper Union, Mei encounters the leader Feng Nuxi.

While stopping Mei, Feng Nuxi realizes that this notorious spellcaster did not actually use her enchantment power against others.

The field and flowers behind her are still intact.

Feng Nuxi figures that Mei may still have a bit of emotion left in her.

She tells Mei that she is studying Reverse Transformation and invites Mei to join the Esper Union.

Looking at Feng Nuxi's hands, Mei finally hears her inner voice:

"I don't want to become a cold-blooded monster…"

"… I don't want to lose myself again."

So, she grabs hold of Feng Nuxi's hands.

Career 4: The tomorrow that will eventually come.

The test report shows that as she uses her divine power, not only does Mei's emotions degress, but she also loses her sense of pain like a plant without a nervous system.

To be more precise, she appears to be turning into a plant.

Now, Mei is an Ops Chief at the Union while being observed and receiving treatment.

She is still indifferent and only interested in plants…

"Thank you for your gift," an assisting staff member smiles and accepts the doll from Mei's hands, "It's cute––"

"––Hey, Mei, did you just smile? This is the first time I see you smile!"

There is still hope then, for Mei to be cured one day.
