On our Sea of Remnants tier list Sword Carver is A tier, 13th of the 23 characters ranked. Strong in multi-wave stages when several enemies reach the carving threshold, at some risk to Sword Carver's own health.

Is Sword Carver good?
Sword Carver is a Strength damage dealer for multi-enemy stages who pays for damage with health. Every attack spends HP to hit harder and adds Carving, and once enemies reach five Carving the Signature Skill cashes them in for up to three extra hits on the whole enemy team.
Stack the main target with the Personal Skill while other attacks spread Carving around, and get as many enemies to five as you can before the Signature Skill.

2Crew story I
A sculptor whose elegant swordplay expresses an aesthetic all his own.
"Look! He has pierced the statue's eyes and let light into its soul! And these broken wings, they are freedom beating its wings in despair!" In the sculpture gallery, a critic stood enraptured before a shattered statue, reading the artist's intentions into every cut.
Just one wall away, in the sculpture salon, the condemnation and mockery were just as shrill: "If wanton vandalism counts as art, then the sea rats' cannons are the greatest masters in history!"
But neither the praise nor the mockery got through the thick stone walls. In his dark stone chamber, the Sword Carver silently ran his hand over the rough cracks and listened closely to the voice deep inside the raw rock.
Crew story II
In his dark, hidden chamber, the Sword Carver stood holding his breath.
His fingertips moved slowly over the rough, unpolished stone, as if soothing a great beast lying in wait, devoutly feeling every rise and fall of the grain and the line of every hidden crack.
He closed his eyes, and the ancient statues in the Mad King's ruins rose before him again. No need for clean structure! No need for proper proportion! The imprisoned soul can be drawn out of the rough, savage breaks.
"Yes! Seize that wild life force and strip away everything until the form it should have is left!"
The rapier left its sheath in a flash of cold light.
His eyes snapped open, his wrist turned, and the blade bit precisely into a seam in the stone. Hack, thrust, peel away. The tip pried at the stone's ridges and they became a bird's twisted, struggling spine of feathers; the edge drove into the breaks and they became a gaping beak and talons. This stone, silent for a hundred years, was always meant to be this defiant.
A moment later, the dust settled and the chamber fell dead silent again.
The Sword Carver stared at the finished work for a long time, but the fanatical fire in his eyes slowly dimmed.
"I once glimpsed a vast river of stars, and all I can make is a faint glimmer. O King, how did you ever carve statues as great as those?"

Reshaping
Signature Skill (14 Energy)Spends 20% HP to deal 600% of Attack to all enemies. If any enemy has 5 Carving, picks one at random, clears its Carving and deals 300% of Attack to all enemies, up to 3 times. Clears every Carving on enemies once all follow-up hits are done.
