Is Red Gowther good?
Gowther's whole game is ranking up other heroes' cards, which makes him a premier pick in PvP, Death Matches, and coordinated partner content since he can turn a rank 1 card into something much stronger for an ally. His ultimate also strips three ultimate gauge orbs from every enemy, and his active locks out enemy attack skills, though it barely deals damage on its own. In Death Match play with a partner, the trick is staggering his position and chaining skill-ups, using one on himself first, then handing a bigger rank-up to your partner, rather than spending them one at a time, and he holds up well through Hraesvelgr.
The newer bosses like Eikthyrnir, Skoll and Hati, and Nidhoggr specifically punish rank-up plays with a huge stat boost, so he's dead weight there. We rate him S tier.
