Career 1 / Popular Instructor.: Lü Shang is one of the most popular instructors among students of Esper Academy.

With his friendly and level- headed teaching style, he seems perfectly at ease in the classroom.

But his affable demeanor hides a potentially devastating power: the ability to suppress other Espers' powers.

This is what gives him his strength as a teacher: no matter how willful and unruly a young Esper may be, he can turn them into a perfectly obedient student.

When he's not teaching, Lü Shang spends almost all of his time fishing, or swapping tips with other keen anglers online.

He's not a particularly gifted fisherman, but that won't stop him from trying.

But don't mess with his favorite fishing spots--it's the only time you'll see him lose his cool...

Career 2 / Shared Feelings.: Becoming a teacher was not Lü Shang's idea.

Born in a small village, he was homeschooled by strict parents, and grew up in a highly repressive atmosphere.

At first, he thought that moving to the city might allow him to gain some freedom, but as an Esper he fell afoul of the Tangton authorities' suppression campaign.

After Lü Shang was detained for the illegal use of his powers by the Tangton authorities, they offered him a chance to avoid imprisonment by taking up a post at Chunhui Academy--the school created by the Bureau of Supervision--where he would teach young Espers whose powers had only just awoken.

Lü Shang saw shades of his own childhood in these "problem children" and their repressive environment.

He took it upon himself to be the sincere and considerate teacher they needed, using his divine power to give them a chance to grow into well-rounded adults.

Career 3: The Death of the First Graduating Class.

Through his time at Chunhui Academy, Lü Shang began to understand the true value of education.

When he wrote the final evaluations for his first class of graduating students, he felt a huge sense of accomplishment.

But he could never have imagined that his students would be pressed into service as mercenaries for Tangton Council, and go on to die in battle.

His grief was overwhelming. The Bureau of Supervision had tricked these young Espers, bled them dry, and abandoned them to their fate.

He could not stand aside and allow other young Espers in Tangton to suffer as they had.

Career 4 / Dawn of Truth.: Lü Shang contacted the Esper Union in secret, and sent small groups of students from Chunhui to Esper Academy.

After his efforts were exposed, Lü Shang was arrested by the Council.

But by a fortuitous turn of events, his work gained the attention and appreciation of the newly appointed Councilor Yu Ran.

Ultimately, at Yu Ran's insistence, the Council was convinced to abandon its Esper training program.

Lü Shang was allowed to go free, and took his students with him to Esper Academy, where he took up a post as a teacher.
