That was before Vortigern's coup.

Vortigern's forces advanced to the Salisbury estate where Roy lived,

and Roy was drafted just days before his wedding to his fiancée, Violet.

Though overwhelmed by the transition from artist to soldier, he could not allow the land he loved, home to his parents and Violet, to be invaded.

To protect his family, Roy Walker took up the shield.

Unexpectedly, Roy discovered a new talent. He had the potential of a Paladin,

and Urien and Ian, recognizing his potential, helped unlock it.

With his newfound power, Roy was assigned as a squad leader for reconnaissance missions.[-]
