1. Before the boss
21 linesThis is the quickest way to the white tower.
There it is, up there. That's the white tower.
What do you see?
There's someone over there by the stairs.
It's been a while.
I wonder if you still remember my face.
Oh, you'll be gone and forgotten soon enough, but first, I've got a whole mountain of payback I'm gonna extract from you.
Renji Abarai.
You not only remembered my face, but my name as well.
You're full of surprises.
Woah, who is this guy? His Spiritual Pressure is on a completely different level from all those guys we were tangling with before.
No, I can't believe it.
That's Renji Abarai. He's the lieutenant of Squad 6!
I must admit, I'm surprised to see you.
I was certain you'd be a dead man after I saw Captain Kuchiki attack you like that.
I don't know how you ever managed to survive that, but it would seem that there was more to you than I first believed.
But as I told you, I'm going to kill the one who stole Rukia's powers.
So this is as far as you go.
What do you care about that, when you've just sentenced her to death?!
I'm gonna cut you to pieces!
Just go ahead and try!
2. Second boss
14 linesSo, tell me the truth, Ichigo. Do you actually believe you're going to be able to rescue Rukia?
I do!
Even if somehow you were to defeat me, there are still eleven more lieutenants left. And then, of course, above them are thirteen full-fledged squad captains.
You would have to utterly defeat every single one of us to even have a chance of reaching the tower. You can't possibly believe that you can pull that off.
I don't care about the odds!
I don't care about how many captains or lieutenants there are! I'll defeat them all, every one of them. I'll defeat anyone who makes the mistake of getting in my way!
Where does that come from? You know, this confidence of yours borders on the insane. Such a quality would almost be admirable if it weren't so irrational.
Now roar, Zabimaru!
You seem to think just because you fought me once before back there in the world of the living, that now you know my true power.
Well let me tell you something, you amateur. Whenever captain or lieutenant ranked Soul Reapers are sent outside, severe limits are placed on our powers.
My strength right now is five times what it was that first day we met. So no matter how confident you are, or how strong you've become...
...there's still no way you can defeat me.
I see. If all I have to worry about is 11 more like that one, then I think I'm gonna be just fine, Renji.
I'm going to enjoy this.
3. After the battle
32 linesHe got me...
It hurts. My body feels heavy. I can't move my legs.
I can't...lift my arms.
Damn it... Have I lost? Damn.
Rukia, I...
............
It wasn't like she was soft.
Rukia was tougher than most men I know. She didn't take any crap from anyone. She even kind of talked like a man. It didn't matter what she was doing. There was something classy about Rukia.
We had become a family.
We knew it was still no kind of a life. All the grown-ups were either thieves or murderers, and all the kids were delinquents.
And to get out of that life, well, there was only one way.
I think we should become Soul Reapers.
All the rest of our friends were gone.
Shortly after the day we made that fateful decision, we both entered the Soul Reaper Academy. We quickly learned we were different from the rest of the spoiled brats from noble families.
And then, that day came...
What are nobles doing here?
Renji.
Oh, uh, Rukia. How are you doing? You had some pretty important looking visitors there, huh. Sorry to interrupt. So tell me, what was that all about anyway?
That was the Kuchiki family, Renji. They want to adopt me as their daughter. Renji, I don't know what to do...
Rukia! What do you mean? Of course you know what to do! You say yes, Rukia. This is fantastic! Don't you see? You're in!
You think so?
Thank you.
Rukia had finally found a family.
A real family. And I knew I mustn't interfere. That's what I had to keep telling myself.
But now that I think back, I think I was just scared to lose her, to lose the only family I ever had.
Not only that. I didn't want to face the fact that I'm nothing more than a stray dog. And I'm so sick of it.
All I do is bark wildly at the moon. I don't have the guts to actually bite.
All this time, I've been blaming you for the fact that Rukia's been imprisoned. Every time I thought of you it made my blood boil!
But I was wrong. It wasn't you. It was me from the start. Because I didn't stop Rukia.
So Ichigo, now I'm swallowing my shame and my pride.
And I'm asking you to save Rukia. Will you promise? I'm begging you! Will you save her?
Yes.
