Is Zeno good?

Zeno's passive keeps enemy evasion cut by half at all times, making him a reliable pick against evasive or evasion-buffed targets, and any time a foe begins its turn frostbitten, he picks up Frenzy along with a defense boost, ramping up both his attack and his defense together. His ultimate is a heavy area hit tied to his own defense stat that also removes two enemy buffs and lands rupture plus a buff lock, and while Frenzied he bypasses effect resistance completely, so those debuffs land reliably.

Because his damage rides on his defense stat, his build puts defense first, with just enough speed to keep applying rupture and the buff lock for the team.

Strengths

  • Passive permanently cuts enemy evasion in half
  • Frenzy from frostbitten enemies boosts both his offense and defense
  • Ultimate scales with defense and inflicts rupture plus a buff lock

Background

An emperor from another galaxy who was defeated in a tournament held by Notos.

He obsessed over power and life, eventually binding his soul with that of a star and becoming transcendent.

He now heads toward Orbis in search of the Monolith.

Kayron / Kayron / Rivals: Though certain Kayron will betray him eventually, Zeno has resolved to make use of him for now.

Ras / Ras / Rivals: Weak, but persistent.

As the Goddess's chosen one, Ras has attracted Zeno's attention.

In the Arena Story, Zeno abruptly appears before Ras and Notos inside the Pyramid and immediately attacks, declaring that the power he gained in exchange for sacrificing his world should be enough to kill Notos and steal the Monolith.

Ventus later describes him as an abnormal participant who should not even have been able to enter the tournament, and as a dangerous, immensely powerful being whose acquisition of the Monolith would threaten Orbis.

As the tournament progresses, Zeno enters a temporary alliance with Ras in order to reach the Monolith.

He insists that they need to gather more power before facing Notos, helps destroy a powerful opponent, and absorbs that opponent’s power for himself.

Even while cooperating, both Zeno and Ras internally recognize that the other will become a problem once the Monolith is within reach.

During the final confrontation, Zeno throws himself at Notos again, refuses to give up despite being badly overwhelmed, and continues pursuing the Monolith even as the Pyramid begins to collapse.

When the Monolith finally becomes available, Zeno clashes with Ras and Ventus over it, but the new owner is decided amid the chaos.

In Monolith Showdown, Zeno reappears together with Ventus and ambushes Ras, mocking how much weaker he seems and declaring that if they defeat him, the Monolith will be theirs.

Ventus explains that Ras lost his memories of the Pyramid after leaving, which is why he no longer remembers Zeno.

Zeno and Ventus accuse Ras of having stolen the Monolith through dirty tricks, but Ras—now strengthened by the Pyramid’s power—defeats Zeno with ease.

Even after losing, Zeno refuses to explain much, calling Ras an improper successor and saying only that Notos suddenly destroyed the inside of the Pyramid, changed his appearance, and began pursuing the Monolith for himself.

Ras then has Zeno restrained so he cannot interfere further.
