Beatrice

We used to grow anger in the sweet air on a sunny day. We are weary of the fog that plagues our hearts. Now, we are sad in blackened mud.

The greatest sorrow is when one reminisces the joyous memories in a time of sadness. The depressed feeling will never be resolved.

Come now. You can confess your deepest sins. Dearest Beatrice is always here for you...

Your choice

...What's with this sudden confession session? What's going on?

I always felt uncomfortable when it comes to these childish games.

Beatrice

Don't you think that it's better to tell your deepest secrets in a cramped dark spot than a boring talk under the sun?

Come now. Speak your mind. We...I mean, I will listen and clear your sins!

You act all tough, but you can barely hold your feelings anymore!

I understand, I do. Sometimes we speak the opposite of how we feel. That's a way to venture for sure.

(Quietly staring...)

Beatrice

...Fine, fine. What's with that look. It's all a part of normal communication, a joke.

Never took you as someone so serious, my Leader.

But to become the partner of the witch, you need to first break away from your patterns and be your true self!

You can't go on by hiding your feelings. You're going to lose yourself on the path of life.

Your choice

Makes sense, as it sounds.

I'll be more likely to lose myself by listening to you.

Beatrice

It's an advice because we're still partners!

I would rather watch people suffer in regret after they get lost, unless that person matters to me.

A soul torn between desires and reality is so beautiful that I'm shaking.

Oh, you figured it out. Looks like it won't be easy to misguide people.

However, I do enjoy that process of completely shredding a person's sense of self.

I thought that I could do an ice breaker with a bit of a joke, but seeing as how defensive you are, I'll cut to the chase.

We are temporary partners, but the Liberos has high standards for partners. We will refrain from communicating with you in depth before we fully approve of you.

The Liberos is freedom and restraint, ego and benevolence, reconstruction and destruction, realism and idealism, love and hate...

Your choice

...but all in all an adorable group of villains?

...but all in all an alliance of beautiful young girls?

Beatrice

That's it, meows.

Hold on. I'm getting a mixed reading here. I think I heard "we'll be back" from a distance.

Perhaps we do seem like a villainous organization in the eyes of the ignorant.

That's quite rude. We accept loli, housewives and milfs as our members too.

Even Hersey...Sorry, that was a strange thing to say.

You heard nothing.

I find it hard to believe that's how you see the Liberos. It's not entirely correct, but it's still a way different than most people.

Plus, our existence can't be summarized with words. The allure of the Liberos can only be felt when living as a part of it.

Your choice

I would like to visit if a chance comes up.

I can already feel that allure from you...

Beatrice

Like I said, we will refrain from communicating with you in depth before we fully approve of you.

Because the moment you set your foot into the Liberos, you'll be involved in things like (bleep–bleep–bleep).

That's why it's best not to visit so abruptly, before you're ready.

Oh, is this already enough to satisfy you?

There're far more interesting things ahead.

Allow me to formally introduce myself again. This here is Beatrice, the nun.

Everything has more than one side, you and me included.

We might be temporary partners, but before I get to see your true self, I'll continue to be reserved and constantly judge if you're ready to become a real partner.

Before then I won't reveal my true self either.

Your choice

I can't wait.

...That's great.

Beatrice

I admire your courage.

I hope that I will be the one to chain you into my inferno dungeon the day I discover your deepest evil.

I'm glad you think so. The feeling of being constantly judged, watched, and a cruel, unpredictable future...

It's unexpectedly exciting!

Judge

That was a great chat. It's nice to set things straight right at the start.

Beatrice

I almost can't wait to continue to communicate with you, in, great, depth, my Leader.

(Quietly)Stay quiet...must stay quiet...

Despite this place being abandoned, there are still all kinds of urban legends, like bloody high heels walking around, cries at the toilet at the end of the hall, endless stairs...

...And the dark witch who returned...

Your choice

It was supposed to be a romance, how did it become a fantasy?

Dark witch...are you talking about yourself?

Beatrice

Romance? My Leader, did you misunderstand something?

All that happened today was you coming to look for me, and I just happened to have nothing better to do and decided to come here.

That's why we're going together this time.

You got me!

*Coughs* No, I should be the servant of god, Beatrice right now. I'm here to build a utopia in the dream.

Dark witch? I've never heard of such a thing!

This place used to be a monastery. I lived here for a while before joining the Liberos.

Though there aren't really any great memories, I did however hide a treasure in a corner here somewhere.

Would you like to guess what it is?

Your choice

Your favorite toy?

Something that carries special meaning?

Beatrice

Now you're being imaginative. No child here has their own toys.

Each toy is a donation. We cherish and respect them gratefully.

I'm more into treasures that come from the heart, not superficial things like toys.

Yeah. It was something that gave me warmth and love during my helpless times in darkness...

It was sweet and precious. Even now I reminisce how I felt.

That's why I'm here to retrieve the treasure.

Since you're also curious, why don't you help me look for it too?

If you want, I can tell you the story behind this treasure.

Your choice

I'd be happy to learn more about you through this treasure.

Now since you put it that way, I'm actually interested in the treasure.

Beatrice

No no, I'm just a bystander, recording on the side. I was not involved.

You'd be oversimplifying me if you think you can learn about me through this little story.

Really? I'm happy that we have a consensus. I'm glad.

Humans need some kind of faith and ideal to help them through the harshness of reality, like a crutch.

What I'm skilled at is discovering the glittering moment of friendship and the goodness in people and daily life through stories.

I suppose you can't wait to hear the story? Then I guess it won't hurt to tell you.

The story is about two kids.

One was picked up by the orphanage director as a baby. The baby grew up at the orphanage. He was good looking and studious, which made the director take a liking to him.

The director taught him manners and knowledge, hoping that a wealthy family would adopt him into a life of affluence. We called him the "young master" privately.

The second child is the son of a well-known hooligan. His father died from overdrinking, so his mother sent him here so she could remarry.

He was a delinquent, always playing pranks on the other kids, and was then known as the "menace".

Somehow these two with completely different personalities became friends.

The menace looked up to the young master, hoping to one day become elegant and classy. The young master loved to listen to the menace's stories of the outside and his adventures. The two grew closer and closer.

Your choice

...Are you sure this is a story of friendship?

...So how do you know so many details?

Beatrice

You got me! You attend to details just like me.

It's a sentiment greater than human emotions, far more pure, but it is not romance.

It's like the friendship that buds from young people's curiosity, but it's closer and more dependent than simply friendship!

That's why the relationship between the boys is precious. Their bond is a resonance of souls, beyond the judgment and labels of the outside world!

...That's because I listened in on them in a corner of the dark room when they snuck outside to talk at night!

They talked in low voices, but their tone of joy couldn't be hidden like that. It's there almost every night!

They promised to stay as friends, no matter who adopted them, or where they were brought to...

One day the young master was adopted by an aristocratic couple. He left a sleeve button to the menace as an identifiable keepsake, and also promised to write.

Your choice

So did they meet again?

...I have a bad feeling about it.

Beatrice

They never met again. The young master's letters get less and less frequent, and the last letter was sent back because no one was there to receive it. There were no more letters.

The menace left this place after he reached adulthood. However, I saw him putting the button in a box and buried it beside the dark room.

You should know that what he buried wasn't just a button, but the most important memory of his life.

You are correct. The story doesn't have a good ending! Surprise!

It's wonderful to have someone feel sorrow with me!

The perfect endings are far too fantastical. The real endings may be cruel, but they are awakening.

(Digs up the box near the black room, open it, and find a button covered in dust.)

Beatrice

The story isn't perfect, but it's one that showed me the warmth of love in my time of confusion.

As someone who saw the whole story but never was a part of it, I still smile upon thinking about what happened.

Do you know how that feels, MY Leader?

Your choice

...A great story, thank you.

Beatrice

Ha! Don't give me that look. I know what you're thinking.

If you want to say thanks, just let me do it instead. You are VERY DIFFERENT from the rest, my Leader.

Beatrice

The amusement park had always been a mirage in my memory.

It was a place for people to vent and escape their anxiety and worries.

So all that joy, the smiles and laughter, are all fake.

Your choice

So does that mean this is the real amusement park for you?

So is this the reason you brought me to this abandoned park?

Beatrice

Oh, spot on!

A desolate, abandoned place like this feels far more real. Nothing to hide or decorate. Doesn't this feel far more like an amusement park?

Since you asked me out, I had to find a place for total relaxation.

So what if it's destroyed. It has its value for existing.

Plus, there aren't any put-ons here. That makes it more approachable.

Isn't the reason you asked me out to find a place for total relaxation?

Look at the Ferris wheel there. It's old and battered, but it's still running.

Just like everything that aren't accepted in this world. They still operate in their own place.

Ah, exhilarating. I love looking for the realest wonders in places of desolation.

So, my Leader, do you dare to ride the Ferris wheel with me?

Your choice

Riding a battered down Ferris wheel is quite wondrous.

Sure, I'm all yours.

Beatrice

That's right. Looks like you really do know what I'm thinking.

I'm not used to being understood by others, but once in a while it does make me touched.

Ha, so you'll listen to me then? Sounds interesting.

If I'm going to make you do something that you'll never accept, would you still do it?

Though I'm happy to hear a positive response, it's best not to lose yourself.

(The Ferris wheel car rises as it shakes. The squeaks of the Ferris wheel are all that can be heard in the endless night sky.)

Beatrice

I'm not used to being understood by others, but once in a while it does make me touched.

Seems that right now you are someone I approve, my Leader.

It took me this long to discover...I mean, acknowledge. You don't mind me being late about it, do you?

So, now we can really communicate in depth.

Your choice

Alright, then...let's start by learning about Beatrice's personality.

In...depth?

Beatrice

Oh? I thought you're already quite aware of my personality, after spending so much time with me.

Then again, I guess nobody really understood me besides my mother in all these years.

So then, I'll be showing you my true self from now on.

Haha, you really are Leader. Figuring out my little trap right away.

Truth is, it's the first time I encountered someone I could really talk to besides my mother in all these years.

So from now on, you're going to be facing the real me.

I want to find traces of love, even if it's just a tiny bit, no matter how cruel the environment.

However, I really don't believe that such wonderful love exists. I know that one day it'll break, or shatter.

I'm always in such conflict. Hey, Leader, do you get it now?

Your choice

I think that it makes sense, that the conflict makes you very real.

Hm...I suppose Beatrice really is...cute.

Beatrice

So is that your way of approving me? That's rare. It's really rare to find such people even in the Liberos.

If you are as honest as I am, then we are surprisingly in resonance with one another

It's because what I'm expressing is the truth of the world.

Cute? Using cute to describe me. You really are full of surprises.

It might make more sense to say that I'm honest, despite being self-conflicting, rather than calling me cute.

Isn't it because that's the reality of this world?

I haven't been this happy for a long time, my Leader.

Beatrice

So to repay you for such happiness, I can grant you one wish.

Tell me. I'm happy to satisfy you in any way under such a beautiful night sky.

Your choice

I still would like to visit the Liberos, that's Beatrice's home.

So...let's talk about the "communicating in depth" thing?

Beatrice

Oh? Didn't I warn you what would happen the moment you set foot in the Liberos?

Like this...

(Beatrice's cross suddenly extends to tie Leader up...)

Beatrice

Haha! How amusing. Even the calm and cool Leader would make such a panicking reaction.

Ah, so what do you mean by that? In-depth, might not mean what you imagine.

Like...this?

(Beatrice's cross suddenly extends to tie Leader up...)

Beatrice

Haha! I knew you're going to give me that look. Therefore, you must make sure of your wish before you ask.

Either way, thank you for today, my Leader.

Beatrice is eager for the next time we meet.
