Grant

Greetings, Leader!

(Grant bends over in salute.)

Your choice

(Leader pats Grant on the shoulder.)

(Leader bows back.)

Grant

You just never grow up, Leader.

As courteous as ever, Leader.

On the topic of the training grounds, would you like to try out the training?

I believe that you will experience an incomparable sense of achievement from it!

Your choice

Alright! Let's give it a try!

What does the training consist of?

Grant

Hah, that's our warrior Leader!

How about trying the simulations?

A man should have training fit for a man.

This should be a piece of cake for you.

I want to see how Leader will handle it!

Your choice

Alright, this one, let's start!

Uh... I think this is fine.

Grant

Nice one!

Let's go get your gear changed!

Let's go! Let's get your gear changed!

(After changing into the gear, Grant and the Leader stand before a large horde of simulated Nightmares.)

Grant

This helps train your response and ability to think rationally in an urgent situation, including the response of all bodily sensations.

You know, things like pain. It'll be just like the real deal.

When you are hit, a corresponding amount of HP will be lost.

Once your HP reaches zero, you will lose the combat and immediately be ejected back to reality.

Ready? On the count of three...

1, 2, 3, start!

(The Nightmares rush towards the two and they dodge aside, slashing and parrying left and right.)

(After a couple of clashes, Leader is surrounded and wounded. Leader grits his teeth and tries his best, but still loses and disappears from the simulation.)

(Grant follows Leader and exits the simulation.)

Grant

Are you alright?

Your choice

It really feels bad to lose!

It's alright...

Grant

That's right! Losing in the simulation feels bad, but it would be worse to lose your life on the battlefield.

Alright then.

We train to increase our efficiency in battle, not to make ourselves feel bad.

As a Knight, we can lose in the simulations, but we can't lose on the battlefield!

There are millions of people that are counting on us for their protection!

They may be our parents, or our sons and daughters, or our friends, or even strangers!

Just like us, they are somebody's son, daughter, wife, husband, mother, father...

Every day as a Knight requires us to protect all those that love and are loved!

Your choice

I suddenly understand what it is you do now!

Can I really protect them?

Grant

Isn't what you're doing already done for this reason?

You must believe in yourself!

Time's running out, Leader. I hope we can meet again.

(Grant bends over in salute.)

2. Date 2

Grant

The Knight Arena is right up ahead, Leader!

Please come with me!

Your choice

What does it take to enter?

The competition must get pretty intense!

Grant

No.

Anyone may enter.

You'll understand once you see it.

Let's go, Leader!

(The two enter the arena on horseback. The arena is a vast grass plain dotted with conical tents.)

(A group of knights gather around to discuss the current competition and their families are watching nervously on the side.)

Grant

Those men gathered there are all Knights. The people on the side are their families.

Your choice

Their families are here too? That's so cruel!

How do so many people compete?

Grant

This is to make the families feel at ease.

Don't worry, the procedures of the competition are well-established.

The rules have long been decided.

The Knights will be divided into two teams and wait on the sides.

When the horn blares, they will charge at each other and fight.

If someone is wounded, they will be hoisted to the corner and receive treatment from our clergy.

The arena is not too different from a real battlefield. Both require the clash of real steel!

The Knights must do everything they can to defeat the other side and win glory!

Your choice

Ah, I see!

This is getting my blood going!

Grant

I'm sure to win this time!

For SEED! For Leader! And for myself! I will return with glory!

I'll be thinking of you when I fight!

(Raising the sword high) It's time for the sword to do the talking!

(Grant rides into battle, the Leader watching from the sidelines.)

(The Knights are divided into two lines, waiting with their swords raised for the signal to begin.)

(With the sounding of the horn, the two lines of Knights rush at each other!)

(The ground trembles with the thundering stampede of hooves, and the clash of steel rings across the arena.)

(Soon, Knights begin falling down and are hoisted away by the clergy.)

(Grant charges forward again and again, emerging victorious every time.)

(After a while, only one person is left, begging mercy under Grant's sword. Grant is the ultimate winner!)

(Applause rings out. Grant holds his head high, enjoying the praise.)

Grant

A round of milk is on me, everyone!

Your choice

Alright!

I'll pass on the milk!

Grant

Nice one!

(Tugging at Leader) Come on...

Milk is great, come on!

(Grant drags Leader near the tents, where a number of food stalls have popped up.)

(Grant buys a number of different things to eat and shares them with everyone.)

(The crowd roars in enjoyment. Some even begin singing and dancing, while others relax and talk among themselves while eating.)

(Grant and Leader sip on milk while enjoying the scene.)

Grant

The atmosphere's not bad, right?

Such is the life of us Knights.

We give it all on the battlefield so that one day, all people may enjoy living in the moment like this.

One time I passed by a peaceful village, and I thought, oh, I must have been here before! But it seemed also somewhat different.

Only after a moment did I remember that it was a village we had saved before.

That place was like hell before we arrived, filled with violence and slavery.

But that day, it was as serene as heaven.

My heart was overwhelmed with a feeling of happiness.

Now, when I fight in battle, I think of that peaceful village, and my sword is imbued with power.

Your choice

You really are an outstanding Knight!

It's a heaven you created by risking your life!

Grant

Haha, it feels good to be complimented.

But let's save those words for the time when all people finally enjoy peace.

This is our duty as Knights, and our honor!

I want to thank you again, Leader! You have always supported me no matter what!

It fills me with the strength and courage to realize my dreams!

(Looking at the sky) It's getting late. Until next time!

3. Date 3

Grant

We meet again, dear Leader. (Bows)

Can you guess where this is?

Your choice

A royal palace?

A church?

Grant

That's not correct.

This is all Knight paraphernalia. It's a Knight museum.

No.

It looks like a church from the outside, but it's actually a Knight museum.

Let's go inside first, and I'll tell you all about Knight culture.

I guarantee that you won't be disappointed!

Your choice

Can I touch the things inside?

I don't want to go in!

Grant

Of course not!

Come on, stop hesitating, let's go!

Huh? Why are you shrinking away now?

Let's go check it out!

(Grant drags Leader into the museum.)

(A large statue of a Knight stands in the middle of the hall, the sides flanked glass displays of old armor and weapons.)

Grant

Last time we talked about the Knight arena, now let's talk about the honor of Knights.

The honor of Knights dictates that we settle problems through combat.

If somebody harms a person that we care about or must protect...

Then we will attack the aggressor without fear of sacrifice.

Your choice

How brave!

But aren't the lives of the Knights also important!

Grant

Many wives of Knights have similar thoughts.

But they just want to see their husbands return safely from battle.

On the day that we became Knights, we threw away all notions of life and death!

But many wives of Knights hope that their husbands can do their best to survive battle.

For a wife, a husband is like a god that protects their home.

The same holds true for the family of a Knight.

If a Knight dies, then their wife and children will lose their protection!

That's why they grow worried whenever there is a competition or a campaign.

But even so, they will send their husbands off without any regret.

They take up their domestic duties while they are gone.

They do not cease in prayer, asking for the safety of their husbands.

All Knights know this!

Your choice

Don't you feel any regret?

There must be a lot of pressure to being a Knight.

Grant

For me, I must endure it!

Yes!

Just like every time SEED goes on campaign.

There is always family sending the troops off!

As Leader, I must tell them to straighten their backs, tighten their belts, and continue forward.

Because I know that stopping means that the mind will falter.

If they falter once, they will falter again, and we cannot... we cannot allow even a tiny slip up.

Truthfully, I also miss my family.

When a war is finally over, I will hurry home to reunite with my family, but only for a bit.

Then I must lead my troops elsewhere again.

But that is my duty!

Since I have decided upon this path, I must walk down it until the end!

Your choice

Do you ever regret anything?

Ah, just stay at home!

Grant

On the day that I became a Knight, I deleted all thoughts of regret from my mind!

If we only protect our families, then who will protect the people outside?

Alright, time to get back to training!

See you next time, dear Leader!
