Case File I

Kala is the principal dancer of the St. Jordan Theater's ballet troupe. Audiences naturally assume she must have come from noble roots to possess such grace and talent. But in truth, Kala has never known a stable home. She grew up wandering the streets of the Empire, sometimes sustained by strangers' kindness, sometimes chased away with cruelty. During harsh winters, she would press her hands against the frosted glass of the old theater and watch the dancers perform beneath dazzling lights. The stage seemed like a world apart. Her ragged figure reflected faintly against the glass, a stark contrast to the poised silhouettes within. Yet it was precisely this distance that ignited her yearning for beauty, and for dance. That night, she made a quiet vow: one day, she too would stand beneath the spotlight and shine

Case File II

When the [Bird Cage] was destroyed by the Calamity, the Echo Crystal's erosion slowly ate away at Kala's body. Desperate, she turned to an underground clinic in the disaster zone for a Case operation, a final gamble. Under the blinding glare of surgical lights and the sting of cold medicinal fluid, she felt herself slipping into darkness, certain she would never wake again. But when she opened her eyes, she was reborn. For a moment, it felt like a butterfly breaking free of its cocoon. Kala knew her new body was far from perfect. The rejection kept gnawing at her nerves, a constant reminder of what she had lost. Yet, within that pain bloomed a new obsession, to live by her own strength, and to prove the meaning of her existence with every step of her dance.

Case File III

From a wandering orphan to the principal dancer of the troupe, Kala's transformation was not achieved overnight. Her humble origins once drew suspicion and scorn, many deemed her unworthy of standing beneath the theater's brightest light. Yet Kala trained with relentless discipline, enduring countless falls and restarts, forging her body and will into steel. She no longer believes in gods because none ever answered her prayers. Even so, she continues to face her audience with grace and returns their applause with a smile and her dance. The ballet Swan Song brought Kala fame, but beyond the flowers and ovations, she never forgets that beauty was never a gift from the world. Perhaps human strength cannot stand against Calamity, but it can defy fate itself.
