Perfumer Byblis brings automatic team support that holds up well against fast enemies or heavy area damage, without needing much active piloting. Her debuff control is strong too, combining a designated provoke with venom stacks that detonate for extra damage, and when her defense-down skill connects, it can also set off a bonus attack from whichever ally on the team hits hardest.

As the owner of a secret perfume shop that opens only at night, many customers seek her rare perfumes, but only those chosen by Byblis can obtain them.

In Portrait of a Lingering Fragrance, Perfumer Byblis is the false identity Byblis adopts at Belle Nuit while secretly investigating kidnappings connected to a lingering perfume scent.

As Belle Nuit’s owner, she presents herself as an exacting and somewhat arrogant perfumer who refuses unworthy customers, values refined taste above all else, and takes particular pride in being appreciated by Edelina, one of the few customers she considers truly discerning.

Even while acting in this role, she reminds herself that becoming a perfumer is only part of her mission, though her success at attracting customers delays her search for the real culprit.

When Jack the Rip visits Belle Nuit and requests a fragrance resembling the suspicious scent tied to the kidnappings, Perfumer Byblis becomes convinced that he is the culprit.

She accepts his order, creates a specialty perfume infused with her mana, and uses it to track him, hoping to catch him in the act.

However, she discovers that he only wanted the perfume to support a clumsy confession of love, forcing her to realize that she has completely misjudged him while the real criminal remains at large.

After another kidnapping occurs and one of Belle Nuit’s perfumes is found at the scene, Perfumer Byblis is drawn into the official investigation when Achates and the Holy Order arrive at her shop.

Her hidden face and missing customer ledger make her appear suspicious, and she is forced to slip away before her identity is exposed.

Determined to clear her name, she examines the crime scene herself, discovers that the perfume used there was tampered with, and follows the altered scent of sea breeze and a peculiar plant all the way to the fish market waterway.

There, she finds the missing children entranced by the fragrance and confronts Edelina.

As Perfumer Byblis pursues the truth, Achates uncovers her disguise and realizes that Belle Nuit was only a cover for the investigation.

Instead of exposing her, Achates chooses to trust and support her, allowing Perfumer Byblis to continue the case on her own terms.

She then uses a truth-telling perfume on Edelina, learns the painful story behind the kidnappings, and concludes that Edelina was driven by grief, guilt, and the influence of a mysterious plant whose scent preyed on each person’s deepest desires.

Although she condemns Edelina’s actions, Perfumer Byblis also shows compassion, recognizing that the children were cared for rather than harmed.

Perfumer Byblis ultimately traces the case back to Occisionis, a dangerous plant of her own creation whose scattered seeds had taken root in the forest.

Explaining that the plant lures victims by manifesting the scent they most long for, she accepts responsibility for correcting the problem, defeats a fully grown specimen, and rescues Lisea from within its flower bud, reuniting her with Edelina.

After the case is resolved, she chooses to keep Belle Nuit open.

Reflecting on her failures, she admits that she had been arrogant in believing she could create the perfect scent and that she had focused too much on outward appearances.

From then on, Perfumer Byblis resolves to listen to each customer’s story and craft fragrances suited to them personally, fully embracing the role of perfumer rather than merely using it as a disguise.
