In the past, Hwayoung used to be one of Natalon's strongest fighters.

However, both of her arms were severely injured during a fight against the Suin.

Some time later, Hwayoung took Ken as her pupil, but following his disappearance, she settled in a human village in the Prairie.

Welcome to Oasis Land

In Welcome to Oasis Land, Hwayoung takes on a much more active and visible role as one of the guests from Natalon visiting Lefundos during an international exchange.

From the beginning, she is curious about Lefundos’s magical technology and expresses interest in visiting Oasis Land after hearing Schniel describe it as one of the country’s great wonders.

She also helps make the trip possible by telling Eda that she and Arunka will cover the expenses, and throughout the early part of the story she comes across as practical, straightforward, and quietly supportive, encouraging Eda when she becomes anxious and even paying for the group’s swimsuits without making a fuss about it.

Once the group arrives and finds Oasis Land in ruins, Hwayoung quickly shifts into the role of one of the party’s most level-headed observers.

Rather than blaming Eda for what happened, she reassures her that the fault lies with whoever failed to manage the park properly.

After meeting Frida, Hwayoung is one of the first to defend her when tensions rise, saying that she has no reason to think Frida is lying about the park’s state.

As they spend more time there, she also gives one of the clearest practical assessments of Frida’s situation, pointing out that restoring such a massive place alone could take years and later offering to help clean the park in return for Frida’s hospitality.

These scenes make Hwayoung an important grounding presence in the group, someone who responds to the park’s collapse not with panic or sentimentality, but with calm judgment and direct action.

Hwayoung also plays an important part in recognizing that something deeper is wrong.

After the group learns more about Frida’s circumstances, she openly questions how a girl so young could have ended up inheriting a clearly decrepit water park with no adult support, and suggests that the situation may be even crueler than it first appears.

Later, when she accompanies Arunka and Festive Eda outside Oasis Land, she examines one of the damaged barrier stones and notes traces showing that it was smashed by something like an axe, helping confirm that the park’s defenses were deliberately sabotaged.

When repeated monster attacks continue, she immediately agrees that the pattern needs to be investigated further.

In this part of the story, Hwayoung helps move the narrative from vague suspicion to a clearer understanding that Oasis Land’s downfall was not accidental.

Her support for Frida continues in both emotional and practical ways.

During the group’s late-night conversation, Hwayoung is one of the people who recognizes that Frida’s efforts and courage are genuine, praising the way she risked herself to protect guests despite her fear.

She also questions Eda directly when Eda says she wants to help, not to oppose her, but to make sure her motives are sincere.

Once she accepts that sincerity, Hwayoung supports the decision to stay and help restore the park.

Later, after the royal court becomes involved, she helps bring workers and supplies sent by Schniel, personally delivers the royal funding that had previously been sent to the Pfalz family, and gives Frida the decree ensuring that the money will now go directly to her.

By the end of the story, Hwayoung has become one of the key outside supporters who helps turn Oasis Land’s restoration into a real project backed by resources rather than goodwill alone.

In the final conflict, Hwayoung’s protective side comes fully to the forefront.

When Sarah arrives and attempts to seize Oasis Land back from Frida, Hwayoung is the first to snap back at her for the way she speaks to Frida, and when Sarah orders thugs to drag the others away, Hwayoung makes it clear that she has no intention of being pushed aside.

This ending reinforces the role she has played throughout Welcome to Oasis Land: not the emotional center of the story, but one of its strongest pillars of resolve, someone who notices what is wrong, helps investigate it, secures material support when it is needed, and stands firmly beside Frida when the conflict becomes open.

Orbis Gladiatorium

In Orbis Gladiatorium - Preliminaries, Hwayoung is one of the notable competitors who advances into the official rounds of the second Orbis Gladiatorium.

Although the story does not focus on her perspective in detail, her placement in the tournament shows that she is counted among the stronger participants gathered for the event.

Her run ends in the quarterfinals when Romann defeats her, which gives her a structural role in the tournament rather than a deeply scene-focused one.

Monolith Showdown

In Monolith Showdown, Hwayoung again appears in a role defined more by the structure of the Pyramid than by extended personal scenes.

She is one of the Protectors aligned on Notos’s side of the mirrored progression through the Pyramid, occupying the Bastion of Despair.

As such, she becomes one of the figures defeated during Notos’s advance toward the Chamber of Proof.

In this material, her role is tied to the larger framework of the Monolith conflict rather than to a separate character arc of her own.
