Is Frieren good?

Frieren's passive helps out allies who build Determination or Focus stacks, giving her some team utility on top of her own kit. She can burn Soul to shrug off incoming skill damage, which keeps her alive in rough fights, and her strength really comes from linking her big area attacks turn after turn for heavy, repeated damage.

No tier has been set for her yet.

Background

An apprentice to the Great Mage Flamme, she is the Mage of the Hero Party that defeated the Demon King.

She despises demons, and genuinely loves everything that is magic.

After Himmel the Hero’s passing, she departs on a journey to learn how to better understand humans.

Stark / Stark / Friendly: Other than being her old colleague Eisen's apprentice and her party's vanguard, Frieren sees Stark as a respectable warrior who will always fight for others.

Fern / Fern / Friendly: Frieren has realized that watching Fern grow stronger brings her more joy than pursuing her own personal interests.

In Epic Seven X Frieren - Beyond Journey’s End, Frieren enters the story when a strange halo of light appears before her, Fern, and Stark in the forest.

Sensing a voice calling for help and judging that the phenomenon does not feel especially dangerous, she chooses to enter the Chaos Gate with her companions.

On the other side, she arrives in Ritania, where she quickly demonstrates her strength by fighting off monsters before meeting Ras, Mercedes, and Arky.

After learning that she and her party have crossed into another world and that the gate behind them has vanished, Frieren accepts Ras’s offer to travel with his group while they search for the reason she was summoned and a possible way back home.

As the journey begins, Frieren is portrayed as both powerful and characteristically unhurried.

She readily agrees to help with monster hunts, shows enough skill to impress Ras and Mercedes, and treats many of the unfamiliar things in Orbis with quiet curiosity rather than alarm.

At the same time, her love of grimoires and magic remains a constant part of her role in the story.

When Krau offers her compensation for helping organize the royal storage, Frieren immediately asks for a grimoire instead, and once inside the storage she is easily distracted by magical books.

Her curiosity also extends to the world itself, whether she is asking about Homunculi, the World Tree, or the flowers and herbs unique to Dun Blyraia.

Frieren also becomes an important emotional counterpart to Ras.

After the discovery of the Hilag Lance stirs Ras’s grief over the Heirs he lost, Frieren listens as he confesses how empty he feels when he thinks of companions erased from the world.

In response, she recalls Himmel’s words from her own past and tells Ras that his comrades certainly existed by his side, and that all he has to do is carry their memory into the future.

This exchange becomes one of the emotional turning points of the crossover, because Frieren’s perspective helps Ras begin to understand that remembrance can be a way of honoring the dead rather than only mourning them.

Beyond that reflective role, Frieren remains one of the party’s most effective problem-solvers.

In the mysterious dungeon near the Taranor border, she helps battle the monsters inside, becomes the center of one of the story’s comic scenes when she is caught in a Mimic because of her obsession with the possible one percent chance of a grimoire being hidden inside, and later supports the group as they uncover the truth of the laboratory-like structure.

After meeting Robin, Frieren continues onward with the others into Dun Blyraia, where she offers help without hesitation when she sees the scars left by the Archdemon War and the dangers still threatening the elves.

In Dun Blyraia, Frieren’s role deepens again through her bond with memory and time.

She notices both the devastation left by war and the care with which the cemetery of the fallen has been maintained, immediately understanding that the dead there were precious to those still living.

When she learns about the Elven Flower and sees the grief surrounding Iseria and Saria, Frieren responds with quiet sympathy rather than grand speeches.

Later, when the Naga threat near the cemetery and World Tree becomes urgent, she simply acts: after understanding Iseria’s wish to protect that place, Frieren breaks through the barrier around the enemy force and eliminates the source of the monsters herself, removing the danger before it can spread further.

Her final major contribution comes in the story’s closing chapter, when she uses the grimoire obtained earlier to make Elven Flowers bloom across the desolate land, helping Iseria remember the faith and hope tied to Saria’s gift.

In that same scene, Ras thanks Frieren and tells her that traveling with her gave him the courage to say goodbye with a smile to the comrades he had buried deep in his heart.

Although Frieren herself remains outwardly calm even at parting, saying that making too much of a farewell would only make things awkward when they meet again, her presence throughout the story leaves a lasting effect on the people of Orbis.

Within this crossover, Frieren is not only a visitor from another world and a formidable mage, but also a quiet guide whose perspective on memory, loss, and enduring bonds helps others move forward.
