Huh?
Oops! Sorry, I didn't mean to catch you in the shot...
I'll tear it up later. Don't worry.
Why were you taking a picture of this house?
Oh, but first, I should introduce myself. I'm Patty, a travelling photographer!
I just arrived in Icelake, and I've been looking for places here worth photographing.
This house was so beautiful I just lifted my camera without even thinking... I didn't notice you walking past at all. Sorry about that!
A photographer...? So you take pictures for a living? I didn't even know that was a real profession. Have you taken lots of photos?
Of course! Here, have a look...
(She pulls a thick notebook out of her bag and flips it open. It's full of photographs, with only the occasional note beside them.)
So you can turn photos into something like this... that's really interesting. Mine are all just stuffed in a drawer.
Hehe, I call it my "Image Note". If you like it, you should try making one yourself!
Sounds a bit tricky.
Not at all, once you start, it'll come naturally.
But... even if I did, I wouldn't know what to put in it. Or what to write. How do you decide?
To be honest, at first I was just throwing things together. But after doing it for years, I've learned a thing or two. If you're starting from scratch, the first thing you should do is pick a "theme".
A theme?
Mm-hm. Basically, it's your reason for making it. For me, it's so I can show these to my sister when I go home.
She used to love travelling... but she fell seriously ill, and now she's too weak to go out. She's been really down because of it.
But one day, I happened to show her some of the photos I'd taken on my travels... and she smiled. For the first time in ages.
That was what inspired me to start travelling and putting this journal together. I want to go farther and see more of the world, then bring it back to my sister through these photos, so she can still see how vast it is even from home.
So the theme of my Image Note is "capturing the wider world". Once I had that, all I had to do was keep looking for new things to see and record. What about you? Is there anything you especially want to capture?
...
Please see the world for me with your eyes.
The person who gave me this camera once said... she hoped I could see the world for her.
I want to turn the photos from my journey into an Image Note. Something that proves I really saw this world. Could that be a theme?
Of course! That's a really good one!
Now that you know what you want to do, why not get started straight away? I just so happen to have a spare notebook, here, you can have it.
That's very kind of you. But it's all right, I can buy one myself.
No, no, this isn't like the ordinary notebooks you'd find at any stationer's. Look, the pages already have space set aside for photos and notes, so it's really handy if you're just starting out.
And the cover's blank too, so you can decorate it however you like and make it one of a kind. Trust me, it makes the whole thing feel much more special.
I see... then I'll take it. Thank you.
Mm-hm~ Good luck, rookie photographer! Once you've made your own Image Note, come and show me, all right~?
(How should I decorate it...? Hm, Lunosmith might have something I can use.)
2. Enter Sanctuary
6 linesHm? Need something, kiddo?
Hello, Lunosmith. I want to decorate this Image Note. Do you have any spare materials I could use?
Sure! You've been such a good customer. It's the least I can do. Go on, have a look. Help yourself to whatever catches your eye.
Ha... this takes me back. I used to love making little things by hand when I was a kid...
With Lunosmith's help, you finish decorating your Image Note.
That should do it. Now... what photos should I put in it?
