Is Charles good?
An Earth knight who works as a damage-dealing bruiser more than a tank. Smash hits one target repeatedly with a high chance to strip all of their buffs, and Slash can trigger Smash again, with better odds against a buffed enemy.
Faithful Strike hits the whole team and gives your allies Attack Up for two turns. He's S tier for us, and Portrait of the Saviors builds him for damage in Hunts and Arena.
Strengths
- Full buff strip on Smash
- Slash can fire off another Smash
- Team Attack Up on his ultimate
Weaknesses
- Plays as a bruiser, not a true tank

Background
Although he may be rigid and loyal, he cannot help but act like an overprotective servant of Aither, and will deal with all kinds of things in order to protect him.
Demon Hunter: Charles has donned a special disguise for an investigation into a mansion surrounded by rumors.
The costume was designed by Aither with inspiration taken from the costume of the main character of an exorcism novel he recently read.
Lore
Charles’s direct role is concentrated in Orbis Gladiatorium - Preliminaries.
At the start of the story, he appears at Tirel Castle after the Continental Alliance Conference, where he praises Aither’s growth as king and as the head of the alliance, expressing confidence that the late Diene would be proud of him.
In this early scene, Charles is portrayed as a loyal supporter of Ezera’s leadership and as one of the figures helping shoulder Orbis’s growing concerns over future extraterrestrial threats.
Later, Charles is shown reflecting privately on the twenty years that have passed since the desperate days before Ras awakened.
Thinking of Diene and the battles of that era, he resolves that he will never let go of the peace they seized with their own hands, even if his aging body eventually fails him.
This inner resolve becomes the foundation for his role in the tournament.
Charles then takes part in the Ezera preliminary finals of the Orbis Gladiatorium as Ras’s last opponent before the official rounds.
Ras is surprised to see him competing, but Charles declares that he will give the battle his all.
After a close duel, Charles loses gracefully, acknowledging how narrowly the match might have turned out differently and recognizing Ras’s exceptional strength.
After the match, Charles reveals the deeper meaning behind his participation.
In response to Aither’s praise, he recalls the despair people felt when Ras still had not awakened and how Diene’s words restored his will to fight.
He explains that although she was only a young nun at the time, her faith convinced him that even small, fleeting lives could overcome overwhelming power if they united around hope.
Charles says that this conviction allowed him to wield his sword again.
He then gives Ras his chess piece, imbuing it with his own hope and with the hopes of all who fought and fell twenty years earlier, and asks Ras to stand against the celestial powers threatening Orbis and protect the world.
In Orbis Gladiatorium - Preliminaries, Charles is therefore portrayed as dignified, disciplined, and deeply shaped by the memory of Diene and the Archdemon War: a veteran knight who still fights not for glory, but to preserve hard-won peace and pass that responsibility on to Ras.
