From the Lookout Hill

A message in a bottle... Who is it from?

7 scenes, 35 lines

1. Scene 1

1 lines
Belle

Go, go... Leave me in peace. Perhaps you could drop by again if you find any other little curiosities.

2. Scene 2

1 lines
Elderly Woman

Who are you folks? I'm busy appreciating this fine vase right now. Don't disturb me without a good reason.

3. Scene 3

7 lines
Aldo

Hey, there's something shiny over there.

You picked up a shiny thing.

Aldo

Is this...a glass bottle? Looks like there's something inside...

You fish a piece of paper out of the bottle.

Aldo

This looks like some kind of letter.

Letter

"The shining waters of Acteul..." "I wish you to deliver this letter to..." "Lenis, the fairest maiden in town..."

Aldo

The writing's smudged, I can't make it out too well. But the part about someone named Lenis living in Acteul is clear enough. Maybe we should ask around town and check if anyone knows her.

4. Scene 4

1 lines
Aldo

This is ridiculous, how can no one in the whole of Acteul know this Lenis person? At least they were able to point us toward that Belle lady. I wonder what she has to say...

5. Scene 5

Belle

Who are you folks? I'm busy appreciating this fine vase right now. Don't disturb me without a good reason.

Aldo

It is a nice vase, but we do have a reason for coming to see you.

Belle

Silence, you little whippersnapper! Appreciating fine art like this is one of the few pleasures I have left in life.

Aldo

Oh... That's...uh... Could you take a look at this letter we found? We think it might mean something to you.

Belle

A letter? Hmph, give it here, then.

You gave Belle the letter.

Belle

Goodness! This is...

The ink used to write this letter has been made from Poppolti Berries. It's cheap, but not very hard-wearing. It fades with time. But if you brush the letter with Izzak Liquid and heat it, the color should return to the writing.

Aldo

Izzaks? Those are the monsters you see out on Lake Tiilen, right?

Belle

I didn't think there was anyone these days that knew how to make this ink. Sure takes me back... Heh heh heh. This could be fun! If you collect the bodily fluids from three Izzaks, I'll help you restore the letter. How does that sound?

Aldo

Great, thanks! We'll go get it.

6. Scene 6

1 lines
Belle

Slay three Izzaks and bring me back their fluid.

7. Scene 7

13 lines
Belle

You took your sweet time! I'd almost given up on ever seeing you slowpokes again.

Aldo

Slowpoke? Uh, anyway, we got the fluid you asked for.

You gave Belle the Izzak Liquid.

Belle

Hmph. At least you deliver the goods when it counts. Best take one last look at what you can read before we start.

Letter

"The shining waters of Acteul..." "I wish you to deliver this letter to..." "Lenis, the fairest maiden in town..."

Belle

Heh heh heh... I wonder what a little extra context will do to those passages. I'll brush the liquid on now.

Oh yes, it's Poppolti ink, all right. Look - the faded parts are coming back into view. Read it now.

Aldo

Wow, you're right! Okay, here goes...

So her name was actually Bellenis. No wonder we couldn't find anyone who knew "Lenis."

Belle

...... ...... Hmph... What a fool. Professing love to an old biddy like me...

Aldo

Huh? Does that mean... Wait...Belle...Bellenis? This letter is for you!

Belle

Just a coincidence. That's enough games for now. Be on your way! Go on, get!

Aldo

I think the letter finally got to where it was meant to be. Rest in peace, nameless fisherman.
