1. Scene 1

10 lines
Teacher

Hello. Can I help you?

Aldo

Sorry, am I interrupting? I was wondering if I could sit in for a while...

Teacher

Seekers of knowledge are always welcome.

Aldo

Great, thanks. I've gotta say, this class looks pretty comprehensive.

Teacher

It's all about striking the right balance between practice and theory. You might not be so impressed if you saw a student pour too much magic into a spell and collapse.

Aldo

Whoa. Don't you use mana potions or anything?

Teacher

No store-bought potions are allowed here. Students have to make them from scratch. Unfortunately, we're running low on our stores of Golem Crystals, a key ingredient for such elixirs.

Aldo

Really? I'd be happy to go get some more for you.

Teacher

That'd be wonderful! I'd be eternally grateful.

Aldo

No problem!

2. Scene 2

Aldo

Teacher, I got you those potion ingredients.

Teacher

Splendid! And not a moment too soon, either.

Aldo

Wow, your kids must be practicing hard. Couldn't you have waited until I got back?

Teacher

There's no problem with the regular students. This boy, on the other hand, is badly in need of an elixir.

Mark

Urgh... Used too much magic... Gonna faint...

Teacher

What am I to do with you? I admire your passion, but restraint is a virtue too, you know.

Aldo, if you would hand me the ingredients, I'll whip up something posthaste.

The teacher expertly brews a potion and gives it to the worn-out boy.

Mark

Woo, I feel like a million Git! Those potions are bitter, but they sure get the job done.

Teacher

You're still recovering. Take a break for a few minutes.

Mark

No way! I'm finally getting the hang of this spell. I'll get it right next try! Hiyaaah!

Teacher

Stop that! You're not allowed to use spells we haven't covered in class.

Mark

Too late now, Teach. Time for my new attack's grand debut!

Eh? The flow of magic doesn't feel right...

Yaaaaaargh!

Teacher

Oh no, not agaaain!

Aldo

Whooooooa!

Mark

Whoopsie, looks like another failure. What did I do wrong...

Teacher

How many times do I have to tell you?! These are dangerous forces we're working with. You need to be more careful. Take some time to think about what you've done. And no more magic!

Mark

Shoot, I was sooo sure I had it right this time!

Aldo

My poor eyes... That kid's really something.

Teacher

He has remarkable talent, and he's always eager to learn new things. The only problem is he has no sense of moderation. I wish he would be mindful of how much harm magic can cause if not handled properly. Would you have a word with him, Aldo? He may pay more attention to advice from a seasoned warrior.

Aldo

I dunno if I can convince the little guy, but I'll give it a try.

Mark

Where did I mess up? Mum's spells are a lot harder to use than I thought...

Oh, I know! If I release my hold at this point... That could work. I'd better try it out!

Aldo

Wow, you're pretty motivated for a kid who nearly blew up his classroom.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, but why are you in such a hurry? You'd cause a lot less explosions if you took your time studying.

Mark

Not likely! I need to become a great mage A-S-A-P. I've got no time to sit around twiddling my thumbs! Hwachaaa!

Aldo

Hey, you just got through messing up one spell! Your teacher's gonna be mad.

Mark

A great mage knows no fear!

Teacher

Stop that right now! What did I tell you before?

Mark

Uh-oh, looks like I'm busted. Time to scarper!

Teacher

Come back!

*sigh* There's one in every class...

Aldo

Little firecracker, isn't he? Feels like it's not just empty passion driving him on, though.

Teacher

Indeed... I'm worried he may cause irreparable damage if he doesn't learn to pace himself soon. Aldo...would you help me set him straight?

Aldo

Sure... Having seen what that kid can do, I don't want him hurting himself.

Teacher

I don't want you to think I'm playing favorites with my students, but...his late mother was my best friend, you see.

Aldo

I get it. I'll help you out any way I can.

Teacher

Thank you. Feel free to drop by the classroom again.

Aldo

That kid...Mark, was it? I hope that enthusiasm of his doesn't get him into more trouble. Somehow, I have a bad feeling about this...
