Echocalypse: Scarlet Covenant story ยท Main story, Act 11: Soil of Faith
51. Commission
Those beautiful days of peace now forever belong to the past... No. As someone who has made the world change increasingly faster, we're in no position to complain. For the future of Teslovik, we have to get in on the ground floor, at any cost.
6 scenes, 46 lines
1. Commission
4 linesA message of unknown origin from the Empire?
...Never mind. I'll take care of this. No need to interrupt the training of Awakener and the others.
A cloaked figure appears on screen.
It's an honor, Fenriru. I have a business proposal for you.
2. Stage 51-1, before the battle
11 linesI don't know how you managed to connect to our internal network, but you're mistaken if you thought I would deal with someone who won't even show their face.
There are reasons why my identity must remain a secret. But there are other ways to show my sincerity.
A never-before seen image of a massive Relic component appears on screen.
(A Relic component?)
I thought this would interest Teslovik. Feeling more ready to talk now?
...What kind of business are we talking about?
I want to borrow your elites for a little job in the Augustine Empire.
Did you think you would get me to say yes without explaining? I won't send my squad into danger so easily -
, 10 minutes later.
...That's the story. The client is in the Augustine Empire. Get ready to leave.
Wait a second, what the heck have you been doing while people are training? Explain yourself!
3. Stage 51-1, after the battle
6 linesThe client may be a little suspicious, but it's a pretty good deal if it yields a Relic component, isn't it?
A good deal!? You just casually sold us to a complete stranger!!!
I wouldn't call it casual. I got a pretty good price out of it.
That's not the point!
Don't be so angry, Sova. I'm sure Fenriru has her reasons.
And by the looks of it, our captain isn't exactly opposed.
4. Stage 51-9, before the battle
9 linesThis is the job in a nutshell.
Go to St. Jordan, capital of the Augustine Empire. The client has designated a meeting place.
Entering the Empire isn't hard, but only Church airships have permission to land at the city. How do we travel there?
You'll be flown to a nearby village. You'll travel on foot from there with one of the caravans going to the city.
What do we do once we arrive at the meeting spot?
This is a bodyguard mission. You are to follow the client around and protect her for one week.
So this client wants protection, but she doesn't want to reveal her identity. This must be a sensitive matter.
There must be more to this. She could have hired mercenaries if she needed protection, but she contacted us for a reason...
They're more concerned about confidentiality and discretion than just raw combat ability.
5. Stage 51-10, before the battle
8 linesExactly. What do you think about this mission?
Very suspicious.
Extremely suspicious.
Not exactly someone I would put my trust in.
What's your reason for accepting the job, Fenriru?
The reward they're offering is not something we can refuse. And if there's more to this than meets the eye, this is the quickest way to find out.
Plus, Teslovik isn't some domesticated dog waiting to be fed. We're wolves out to hunt for prey. Horus's lead was eventually going to bring us to the Empire anyway.
You'll undoubtedly encounter users of Church magic in the Empire. You should familiarize yourselves with it in simulations.
6. Stage 51-10, after the battle
8 linesNot bad. Looks like your body and mind are ready, Awakener.
While we're at it, I also need to tell you about our true mission.
True mission?
Get close to the client and obtain the Relic component by ANY means necessary, whether it's completing the mission, or taking it by force.
Whatever the client's thinking, all we need to do is to get our hands on the Relic component, then get out of there.
That's the Fenriru I know.
Leave it to us.
(Augustine Empire... the mysterious client... this looks like a new challenge. Wait for me, Rayna.)
