Rrrgh...
Ahh, enough already! I'll never be able to rest with all that racket!
What's the matter, huh? You wanna play s'more? But we just got finished playin' tag, didn't we? Ugh, it's pointless. I ain't got a clue what this baby's thinkin'. I mean, I've never actually talked to a heavenly dragon after all...
I see you're hard at work, Wryzlie.
Sure am, Melpipipipiphia.
Oho, I certainly wasn't expecting you to give me a nickname in return! Does that mean you're warming up to me?
Just felt like returnin' the favor. So, what'd you want?
Well, to be perfectly frank...I wanted to know if you like lapels.
You mean, like, on clothes? I don't hate 'em if that's what you're askin'.
And what about sleeves?
I ain't got strong feelings about 'em either.
Roger that.
H-Hey, wait! What was that all about?
A good question! To put it simply...I was just asking whatever came to mind.
So it was all pointless?!
Y'know what, forget it... Since you're here, let me ask you somethin' instead.
Ooh, is it about hems?
Enough about the clothing! Can't we just have a normal conversation for once?
I wanted to ask about what ya saw in your vision. Just how far in the future is it?
Unfortunately, I can't say. I can only see what happens, not when. But I can get a feel for the distance, whether it be days or years from now. And the future where you live and that dragon stands beside you...is less than one year away.
I'm supposed to have less than a year to live now... Guess that means we don't know which way things'll go. This dragon's gonna be bigger than it is now, right? How much bigger?
The one I saw was about three to four times this size.
Do dragons grow that much in one year? I know they live a long time, but I've got no clue if all that growth happens so early.
Elves lives longer than humans, too, but our bodies mature slower. I'm not sure we can really compare the two, though.
Honestly, I've never even seen a baby dragon before. I don't think heavenly dragons come down to earth so young.
We're back!
Those woods are teeming with life. We should have all the food we need for the moment.
Everything should be safe to eat. Cerius and I checked to make sure we didn't bring back anything weird.
And if there is anything weird in there, I'd be happy to try it out.
I'm not sure that's a good idea...
How have you been faring here with the dragon?
"Ohhh" what?
Were you cryin' 'cause you're hungry?
Guess you must've worked up an appetite after all that playin' earlier.
But what do dragons eat? I must admit, I am quite curious to know the answer.
Considerin' how strong they are, I doubt there's much they can't eat. If you wanna get specific, though...I know dark dragons eat people, but that's about it.
Oh, I wish you hadn't reminded me!
Never heard of a heavenly dragon eatin' people, though. So I think we're safe.
If they'll eat anything, maybe it'll like some of the nuts and berries we brought back.
Look! It ate it!
Let's hope the flavor is to its liking. If not, I'm afraid you'll have to go back to culinary school...
But I didn't cook anything!
And ya won't have to, either. Seems those berries were a hit.
What a good little baby! You don't complain all the time like a certain someone I know!
"The child of the dawn is equally as bright," as they say. I look forward to seeing how you will raise this child.
Hey, I heard that!
Alright, let's be calm about this... First things first: if we're really gonna raise this dragon right, we'll need more food.
Yeah. I asked Melpiphia about it earlier, and she said it's gonna get pretty big in the future. And I'd like to feed it well, if possible. Preferably with things that haven't been tainted by the dragons here.
That shouldn't be too hard to come by in these parts.
Shall we head out then? Another mouth to feed means more work, albeit in small measure.
I don't like the idea of even more work, but...I can't let this little one go hungry.
Right. Then let's gather what we can find.
We'll be back soon with enough food to fill your belly, so just hold on until then!
You will be unable to switch between maps for a while.

20 linesHey, Aldo. Did ya find anything?
I did, but... Do you think a dragon would eat these?
Red and blue mushrooms, huh. I wanna feed it something good, so... How about we give it...
Red Mushroom Makes it easier to turn the dragon into an Attack type.ยฅn Blue Mushroom Makes it easier to turn the dragon into a Defense type.
The red mushroom. Red's the color of courage, so maybe it'll make it extra brave.

Got it. What should we do with the other one?
We'll eat it.

27 linesThere is, indeed. I realized that flowers seem to flourish within this cave.
Well, the place is full of heavenly energy. I wouldn't be surprised if that's helpin' 'em grow.
Fascinating.
This is merely a suggestion, but...how would you feel about feeding these to that dragon?
You mean the flowers?
There is a reason they say "the scent of a Zol Saffron could tame even the wildest Hornet."
Wish I could agree, but...never heard anyone say that.
But since they're growin' here, they might actually be good for the dragon.
Heavenly Flower Makes it easier to turn the dragon into a Healing type.
Alright. Let's give it a try.
You got a heavenly flower!
On second thought, I don't think we should. I'd feel bad for pluckin' a flower if that dragon didn't end up eatin' it.
Thanks. I appreciate it.
Heavenly Flower Makes it easier to turn the dragon into a Healing type.
I was, but...I've got a bad feelin' about this flower.
I understand. In that case, let us replant it where we found it. We can always come back and get it should the need arise.
You planted a heavenly flower.
Have you changed your mind about the flowers?

34 linesFeast your eyes on these, Wryzldomis!
I can't tell if these names're gettin' closer or further from my actual name...
Not like it matters. Did ya find anythin' good?
Are they any good?
Now, if I had to put a price on these fine specimens...
You have an eye for detail, Wryzette!
The cool blue nut tastes of adulthood, of experiencing the highs and lows of life and growing wiser, and more chivalrous, for it.
Now, do you remember which one you dropped? Was it the red nut...or the blue nut?
I didn't drop either of 'em. But...

So you've chosen chivalrous adulthood, Wryzanne. Your journey here must have been a hard one.
I didn't say any of that!
Well, it's all yours now. Eat it while it's hot!
You got a faint red nut!
You got a cool blue nut!
Like I said, it ain't for me. What should we do with the other one?
What do you mean "we"? This one's aaall mine now.

39 linesOh, Wryz! Perfect timing!
What's up?
I found all kinds of things that little dragon might eat and was just about to take them to you.
Really? You sure they're alright to eat?
I am! I tested them for poison myself. Now, let me tell you about what they do.
This is swiftsage. It's fast, so you need to eat it before it gets away.
And this here is beastbane. It's got a unique flavor that makes you feel larger than life when you eat it!
Finally we have vigormoss. Eat this and you'll be able to lug even the heaviest of heavy items around!
If they've got names, that must mean they're in a book somewhere. That's a relief...
They're not in any book, silly. I made up the names myself!
(Well that's concerning... I'd better be careful about which one I pick.) (The safest option would be...)

I'll take the swiftsage. The explanation was the most straightforward.
I'll take the beastbane. Feels safer than feeding that dragon the other two.
I'll take the vigormoss. It looks the most...edible.
That's it? Just one?
I don't think that kid can eat that much all at once. Plus, we don't even know if herbs'll sit well with it...

90 linesGive the Dragon Child your collected food? *This cannot be undone.
Alright. This should do it. It's feedin' time!
It looks happy!
Haha. Maybe it's still hungry.
It sure has a big appetite... But it's still a baby, so I guess that makes sense. But why beg me for food, huh? Anyone of us'll feed it.
I think it just likes you best.
Me? Liked by a heavenly dragon?
Y'know, it occurred to me when we first met, but you really lose confidence at times. Is it because of what happened back in your village?
Yeah. I know this dragon's got nothin' to do with my past, but I just can't help it sometimes.
To be honest, I'm not surprised that dragon likes you so much.
I mean, everyone in Arcadia does.
And you're not the same person you were back then. You're so much more than that now.
Well, I'll head back out and see if I can find something else to feed it. I'll have a look around the area while I'm at it.
There's still more to this cave we haven't seen, but...we'll have to find a way to get there first.
In any case, could you look after the dragon? I'm sure it'll appreciate your company the most.
...Yeah. I'll stay put.
It sure can eat. Almost like it's got a bottomless pit for a stomach.
Sound familiar, Sazanca?
My stomach's got a bottom, thank you very much!
Well, I see this as an absolute win.
After all, once this little one puts on some weight, it'll be niiice and juicy...
Don't tell me you still wanna eat it!
......
Of course not. I was just thinking of the future, and how big this dragon needs to grow for us to change it.
Then what was that suspicious silence about?!
Please, believe me. And if you won't believe my words, maybe you'll believe this!
Why would that change our minds?!
In any case, I do not foresee this as a problem. We should count our blessings that it eats what we feed it.
Nothing shakes you, does it, Cer-bear?
Why should it? Logically, I have no reason to be shaken.
Well, it's no fun if you don't react. That's what makes Wryzie-poo and Aldonnis so great!
Right, Nca?
Why is my nickname still the same?!
I think that's the least of our concerns right now...
Cerius is right, though. As long as the dragon eats well and grows up healthy, we can't complain.
Dragons store up tons of energy inside their bodies, so it probably needs a lot of food to keep that going.
You all done? Now that your belly's full, you wanna play again?
What the?! Its energy... It's getting stronger!
Perhaps its growing more powerful now that it's been sated...
Whoa! What's happening?!
The baby dragon grew into mischievous youngling!
The baby dragon grew into a clever youngling!
Oh my! It's bigger now!
Indeed it is. It's looking mighty plump right now...
Don't look at it like that! It's maturing, not growing fat to eat!
Is that your opinion as an expert in the matter?
No. That's just how I feel when looking at it.
Still, I can tell the energy inside of it's definitely stronger than before. That's why I think it's maturing. It's reached the next stage of its life.
If it keeps growing at this rate, it might really be big enough in a year.
Somethin's fishy, though. I mean, all we did was feed it and play with it. Ya think that's enough to help it grow up right?
Mmhmm! I think so!
I know it's gotten bigger, but heavenly dragons're about more than just power. They're dignified, and they've got a nobility that fills everything they do. That's what makes 'em so beautiful.
I wuv you!
I-It did. It was talking to you, Wryz...
Wrrr... Wryz! Thank you for pwaying with me, Wryz!
Wh-Why can you suddenly speak?!
Pwease don't be scared... I wanna pway!
Ah, uh... Sorry about that. I'm not scared.
It's like Wryz said before: the stronger dragons are wiser. It then stands to reason that this little one's knowledge grew when its strength did.
I'm not so sure about that... But, well, there's no denyin' what's right in front of us.
Wet's pway! Pweeease!
Alright, alright. I heard ya the first time.
But...I don't know if this is really the time to be playin' around. There's supposed to be somethin' that can change the future in this cave, after all, so we'v gotta get back to explorin'.
Expworin'?
Yeah. We've gotta find a way to get to the very back of this cave. It's like goin' on a walk, but...different. It's an adventure.
Adbenture! Sounds like fun! I wanna go on an adbenture too! My wings got bigger, so I can fwy reaaally far now!
I know it's bigger now, but it's still just a child. I think it'd be too dangerous to take it along.
A child, yes. But a dragon child! So it might be helpful to have it with us.
I think it'd be safest for us to proceed forward together.
After all, "a Tiny Dragon is safest within the gaze of its mother."
Uh... Shouldn't a proverb be more, I dunno, proverbial?
Sorry, but I can't abide someone trying to stifle a child's sense of adventure. It feels too much like restricting someone with rules.
And we can't have that, can we, Mama Wryz?
I'm no one's mama!
But...you've got a point. And if it's what the dragon wants, then who am I to say no?
Weally? Yay! I wuv you, Wryz! I wuv everyone! Let's go on an adbenture!
Okay, okay. Calm down...
What's the matter, Wryz? The dragon's happy, so I thought you'd be the same.
Yeah, but...maybe it's a little too happy or somethin'. It's just, I'm havin' a hard time believin' that a sweet li'l dragon, and a heavenly one at that, would like me so much.
Is it because you were such a gloomy child before?
11. Scene 11
13 linesIt seems like we've reached a dead end. I don't think we'll be getting through here.
But I can see a path over there. If only we could get across...
Next up, we have the running long jump competition. You can practically feel the excitement crackling in the air here, folks!
Melpiphia prepares to take on the current world record. Can she break it? We'll see! ...And there's the buzzer!
I'm on top of the wooorld!
No! Stop!
Hmph. Just what do you think you're doing, young man?! I was just about to make history! I coulda been a contender!
A contender for what?!
I can fwy over there if you want! Then everyone can be happy!
While I appreciate the suggestion, I must remind you of our promise to stay together.

No, you're not. What I meant is, er... You're a really good kid, is all.
I'm gonna be the best kid!
Uhh... Right. I appreciate it. We might be needin' more help from you in the future. Would that be alright?

14. Scene 14
64 linesWhat is that thing?!
I-I-It's huge!
Hoo-ey, that's some mighty fine metal! Reckon I'll take 'er home 'n' make 'er a shiny new landmark in my hometown! The folk back home're gonna love 'er! We'll have festivals every year 'n' offer up our finest scrap metal in 'er name!
But she's too big for me to carry on my lonesome. Help an ol' gal out, would ya, young'un?
'Course I will!
No, you won't! And stop teachin' it weird things!
Still, can't help but wonder what this even is. Looks man-made.
...I may have an idea.
You do?
Yes. We've seen something of this color and texture before. And by my estimate, the size and position are correct too.
Well don't keep us waitin'. What is it?
One of the four stakes holding the limbs of that large dragon down. It would not surprise me if objects of that size reached this deep underground.
I get it. These are the tips of those stakes, then.
We've only ever seen them from far away, so you'd never guess they were this big close up.
Of course, this does not answer the question of exactly what those stakes are. But if I had to wager a guess, they must be curbing the dragon's power and keeping it asleep.
Hmm... I see you have yet to discern the truth.
That voice...!
It's a dragon...and a man.
It's you!
I could never forget that ominous aura or that voice.
You're the one who put this curse on me!
Oho. So we've met before. You must forgive me, but I have dealt with countless whelps in my time. I cannot remember every single one of them.
Countless? Does that mean you've cursed that many people?! Is that why that man doesn't speak?
......
A fair question, and one I won't bothering answering.
Whatever the case, I owe you my thanks. Because of that curse, I found my strength. And somethin' worth fightin' for.
I see... Your remaining years were taken from you. Did you fail to make a contract with me?
Exactly. But I'm grateful. I thought meetin' you was somethin' like divine intervention. A helpin' hand from the gods themselves.
But judgin' by the man you're with, I'm guessin' that's not really the case. And if you got close to me back then just 'cause you wanted to use me... Or you were toyin' with me and never wanted to make a contract to begin with, then...
I'll make you pay for that!
Dammit! Get outta my way! It's not you I've got a problem with! It's that damn dragon!
......
Hmph. A vulgar girl you are to turn your spear on me so suddenly.
What would've happened to me if we'd made a contract back then, huh? Would I have turned into a puppet just like this guy?! Answer me!
Tch... You're really pissin' me off!
You are too quick to doubt me. Pray listen to what I have to say first before making your judgment. Do you think I would have appeared before you had I any intent of fighting you?
A-And what is it...you have to say?
You are curious, are you not, as to what you will find in this cave?
W-Wait. Does that mean you know more about this cave than the elves do?
You honestly think we're just gonna stand here and listen while you try to deceive us?!
Let's listen to what it has to say first, Wryz. We can consider whether it is fact or fiction once we've had time to think it through.
Tch. Fine.
...Alright. We'll hear what ya have to say. But if it ain't gonna help us, you'll be hearin' from my spear next.
Ah, yes. How very terrifying. I shall make this quick. Four stakes bind the dragon, but there is something equally large that pierces the earth here, is there not?
...You speak of the spear, yes? The one that towers above all else in the center of the isle.
Indeed! I am relieved you have one so quick of wit among you. That spear is no mere decoration. It is connected to the stakes and, together, they keep the dragon sealed. But it is wasted in its current state.
Wasted? What do mean?
What else could I mean of such a large weapon? It is a divine instrument, one capable of felling that giant wyrm.
It is?
Indeed, but one must first remove the four stakes in order to awaken its power. So if you truly wish to best that beast, you must break the seal created by the stakes. And to do that, you need the power of the heavens.
The heavens? You don't mean...
This dragon?!
What's wrong? Are you done talking?
That is correct. You have yourselves an ally descended from above. Which means it possess the same power as the stakes and can therefore find them. And with that...
Ahhh! Wh-What was that?!
A large monster, by the sound of it.
This stake is a manifestation of heavenly energy. Creatures are undoubtedly drawn to it, seeking its power.
I have said what must be said, and now I take my leave.
Hey! Wait! Why did ya come all this way to tell us that? You've gotta be gettin' something outta all this!
Of course, you are not the only ones who stand to benefit. Now go. The future awaits...
Dammit! They're gone...
Focus, Wryz! We've got bigger fish to fry right now!
Indeed. We can consider our next move once we eliminate the fiend. Now, to arms!

15. Scene 15
46 linesWow! Everyone's so stwong!
If what that black dragon says is true, then we've gotta do something about this giant stake. But how do we know if we can trust it?
Aldominium is right. There was something off about that dragon. Like, its mouth was just too pointy...
Can we not judge something by the shape of its mouth, please!
Before we consider who said it, let us consider exactly what was said. That large dragon normally lies dormant, and it is clear the stakes hold down its arms and legs. The stakes and the spear are of similar color and material. I believe all this to be true.
Does that mean we can trust what it says?
But that mouth... So pointy...
Now, I can imagine a spear of that size to be capable of felling a dragon of equal greatness. The problem lies within that dragon's final words.
Of course, you are not the only ones who stand to benefit.
It stands to gain something, but did not say exactly what. I can imagine what it is, though.
Y-You can?!
It said removing the stakes would awaken the spear and allow us to slay the dragon. However... Doing so would also awaken the dragon, would it not?
Oh no!
Damn... So even if we could defeat it, we'd need to risk waking it up again.
No no no no no! If we do that, we're toast! Literally!
What is it, Wryz?
We won't ever win if we don't risk losin' it all. That means we gotta take a chance, or else nothin'll change. The way I see it, the choice is obvious.
I see. Would you mind explaining yourself then? As captain.
After hearin' what you said, I think you're right to be scared. I know rushin' forward ain't the answer, and there's a lot at stake.
But I think we'd be wrong not to take a chance when it's right in front of us. We came here to slay that dragon, after all. And if what Melpiphia says is true, we need to do the unexpected. And I can't think of anythin' more unexpected than gettin' rid of this hunk of metal.
You're right. Let's do it, Wryzadee!
Are you sure about that? If we awaken the dragon, that dark cloud from your vision might swallow your village whole.
I told you, we can't change the future by normal means.
Allow me to share some wisdom with you. "If a giant stake is too pointy, make it round."
Oh no... Please, no more weird proverbs!
Me?
Okay! I'll do my bery best! What do you want me to do?
Ugh... You really are too sweet...
To be honest, I don't really know what you need to do. But that dragon earlier said you can dissolve the seal on this stake. So, uh, maybe you could...pray it away or somethin'?
Hmm... I don't weally understand, but I'll twy my best!
Ohh... It feels warm! I think it came from the same pwace I did. Um, pwease... Go away, seal!
That was amazing!
I can't believe it. I guess this dragon really does have the power to break the seal.
Here you go, Wryz! It's weally small now. Did I do a good job?
Is this...that stake? Well, never know when it'll come in handy, so I'll hold onto it for now.
You did a great job. Thanks!
Hooway!
What's our next move, Captain? There are other stakes to be found in this cavern.
That dragon earlier said this little one could help us find the other stakes, but...
Let's head back to that open area. I'd feel bad for workin' this kid to the bone.
Aww, you're such a sweetie when it comes to children!
I-I don't know what you're talkin' about! Now let's go!
16. Scene 16
40 linesAlright. Do your best out there.
Okay! Weave it to me!
I wonder if it'll be okay out there on its lonesome...
Don't worry. That kid's even stronger than it looks.
I know that, but still... It doesn't stop me from worrying.
Don't fret, Nca. Wryzelia taught that little one everything she knows about fighting!
That's even worse! Wryz is so reckless in battle. What if it ends up getting hurt?
When you put it that way, it does sound pretty dangerous...
C'mon, I'd never put that kid in danger.
I should have known Wryz would treat a dragon as kindly as she would her own child. "Even the most ferocious T-Rex is a lenient lizard before its young," as the saying goes.
I've never heard that saying before...
Wryz! It's back!
Hewwo!
There you are! Are you alright? You didn't get hurt, did you?
I'm fine! There were some monsters awong the way, but they were no match for me!
Phew... That's a relief.
Did you find anything on your adventure?
I did find a way forward, but... I don't think you guys can use it...
Oh? And why not?
Because there's a lotta things on the path and, um...I don't think you can get through.
Do you think we could get rid of those things somehow?
I think so! But I'll need to be stwonger!
Stronger?
Yeah! A stwonger dragon could help. So I should go on more adbentures and fight more monsters!
But that's a lot more dangerous than just looking for a way forward.
I don't wanna stop you, but Aldo's right. It's dangerous and you could get hurt. I'm more reckless than anyone here, so I know just how bad things can get.
But I wanna help! And to help, I gotta get stwonger!
But still...
I think we should trust it.
After all, we'll need its power if we're going to change the future.
And this kid is stronger than it looks. You said so yourself.
Is that true, Wryz?
......
You don't need to wowwy about me! I'll get stwonger, you'll see!
But you need to promise to be careful, okay? And if you get hurt, I'll heal you right up!
I pwomise! Thank you, Wryz!
Resultsยฅn Encountered monster(s)! Battle won!ยฅn Growth Curiosity +1ยฅn Special Found a path to a stake!
By setting the course to focus more on battle, you can ensure your dragon will encounter monsters and gain more experience.
17. Scene 17
9 linesLook, Wryz! My wings are stwonger now!
I can bwow the monsters away!
I knew ya could do it.
I'm impressed! You've grown so much in such a short time!
Ehehe. Thank you!
There, there. You did a great job!
Now we should be able to reach the next stake.
Uh-huh! Weave everything to me!
Okay. Let's go!
18. Scene 18
27 linesPhew. I think we all needed a break.
You alright? You're not tired, are ya?
Yeah. I'm okay!
So what should we do next?
We need to find the other stakes and release the seal upon them.
But we don't know where the stakes are. And when we were searching for food earlier, we didn't see any other paths forward.
But we've definitely seen four of 'em above ground, so they've gotta be around here somewhere. And since we don't know how to get there yet, we've got no choice but to search high 'n' low for 'em.
I can help!
You can?
Yup! All I hafta do is find the same thing we found earlier, right? I can sense those big, pointy thingies fwom faaar away!
Now that you mention it, that black dragon earlier did say something like that.
And considering its small size and ability to fly, it may just be perfectly suited for the job.
But it's dangerous to go alone! What if it runs into a dragon?!
I'll be okay! I'm a dwagon too, and I'm stwong!
Still, it wasn't too long ago that you hatched, and it's not an easy thing we're asking of you.
...Alright, kid. Give it your best shot.
Wryz!
It's what it wants, and I don't wanna be the one to say no.
Thank you, Wryz!
But I don't want you goin' out there unprepared, so I'll teach ya how to fight.
Wow! Weally? Thank you! I'll do my best!
Impressive. I should've expected a dragon to pick up fightin' so quickly.
Hehe!
If you can handle that much, the monsters around here'll be no match for ya.
But if things start getting dangerous, don't hesitate to run away.
Okay! Where should I start?
Good question. That's probably somethin' we should decide together.
19. Scene 19
27 linesAlright. That should do it for this stake!
Yeah. Good job, everyone.
I'm sorry, Wryz. I forgot about the big, scary monster.
Don't worry about it. We've got your back. We don't wanna see you get hurt, after all.
I'm impressed you reflected upon the error of your ways so quickly. "A coleus that stays in its mother's shadow is oft rewarded," as they say. Obedience is a virtue.
Or put another way, "An elf's ears grow long as they reach toward the sun."
Is that so? How fascinating.
You're not too shabby yourself.
This isn't a competition!
You're so nice, Wryz!
Me? I was just warnin' ya, that's all. There's nothin' nice about it.
But you taught me how to fight! And you feed me and play with me too. So I think you're very nice!
I don't know about that...
At the very least, you are kinder to that dragon than you have been to us. I believe you, too, are in the midst of growing. And considering your love of dragons, it is no surprise to see that change happening in the presence of one.
Really? You love dragons? That makes me so happy! Do you love me too?
Huh?! W-Well, I, uh...
Maybe it's time you told it the whole story, about why dragons are special to you. I'm sure that'll bring the two of you closer.
A-Alright then...
A Dragon...Summoner? I've never heard of that before.
I've always wanted to be one, but in the end I never could make a contract.
I couldn't win a single duel back home, so I never managed to impress a dragon. Back then, I was absolutely worthless...
Wryz?
But despite everything that's happened, I still think dragons're beautiful.
So maybe that's why I try to take such good care of ya.
Ugh. Alright, that's enough story time! I can't be gettin' all mushy in the middle of a mission.
Come on, we've still got things to do! Let's get movin'!
A contract... Hmm...
20. Scene 20
17 linesYay! Another stake! If I make it small like the last one, that'll make everyone happy! Okay, here I go!
Wait! Stop!
Huh? But why? I wanna help! I want you to say I did a good job!
I get it, trust me. It makes me happy when someone praises me too.
Why not make a lance for Wryz? She attacks the most, and from the closest range too.
A sound argument.
And I certainly don't need it.
Huh? You sure? I only said I wanted one 'cause I do, but...I never thought you'd all agree.
Your squad respects what you do, Wryz. And it sounds like they want you to have a brand-new lance too.
I'd never known how good it felt. Not until I came here. But ya can't just rush ahead for a pat on the back. You'll get hurt. I know from experience.
It's nice to see you explaining things so calmly for a change.
Well, I've gotta. I don't wanna see such a sweet little kid gettin' hurt.
Now I want ya to think back. Do ya remember what happened last time we were near a stake?
Uwaaah!
Don't tell me you didn't see this coming, Sazanca...
Well, there's our answer. Seems there's always somethin' dangerous lurkin' around these stakes. Now let's get rid of it!
Skip scene?
21. Scene 21
13 linesPhew. Well, that was a surprise. Usually you counter when that happens. Are you alright? Maybe you need to rest a little.
Oh no! What should we do?
I'm fine. I just...let my guard down.
You don't need to hide the truth, Wryzabeth! You were simply blinded by my beauty and couldn't move a muscle!
I was not!
...Wryz.
Wh-What?
Forgive me, but I cannot stay silent on the matter. That last battle was...unusual, to say the least. Hunters like myself are very sensitive to any and all movements around them. And I can tell yours were different. It's not like you to be shaken by an attack like that.
I don't quite get it myself.
I'm usually ready to jump headfirst into danger. But that time...I wasn't.
I mean, you shouldn't be throwing caution to the wind like that in the first place, but...
It's nothin' to worry yourselves about. I'm feelin' fine, so let's head back.
Very well. I shall put my faith in your words...for now.
22. Scene 22
15 linesThere it is! But we should be careful. There's no telling if another monster'll pop out like last time.
Indeed. It would behoove us to approach with caution. After all, I can sense something in the air...
Ahh! Another monster!
Hey there! Welcome to Melpiphia's! Table for one?
This isn't a restaurant!
What shall we do, Wryz? The same as always?
Hm? What's going on?
(What's wrong with me? Usually I'm ready to jump back in without a second thought, but...) (But I...)
Wryz! Watch out!
Are you okay?
I'm fine. Sorry 'bout that.
Not to worry. We'll take this fiend down together!
Skip scene?
23. Scene 23
20 linesWhew... That thing didn't go down easy.
Wryz! You're not hurt, are you? I'm so sorry... This is all my fault!
It's not your fault. Besides, we defeated that monster, didn't we? So you've got nothin' to worry about. Would ya mind takin' care of that stake for us? You're the only one who can.
Yeah! Of course!
Alright. Another stake down!
......
What's the matter? It ain't like ya to be so quiet.
I know, but...I don't really know how to say what I wanna say.
Just take your time. Ya did just learn how to speak, after all.
Well...okay. Um... I'm really sad you got hurt because of me, Wryz. But I'm happy too.
Happy? Why's that?
Because you protected me. And I thought it was amazing! And I'm happy that the person who raised me is so great! I wanna be just like you someday!
Y-You do?!
Isn't that great, Wryz? It really likes you.
I guess I should say thanks, but...I'm not really sure how I should feel about that.
All my life, I've never been admired by heavenly dragons. And now, it's just the opposite. And to top it all off, someday I...I'll...
No. I should grateful. So...thank you.
Huh?
C'mon, let's get back to explorin'. We ain't done here yet.
Yeah!
24. Scene 24
36 linesOh! Here it is! I'm so glad I found it! Everyone will be so happy!
Hey, Wryz. Did I do a good job?
'Course ya did. We couldn't have done any of this without ya.
Hooray!
Hmm...
What's the matter, Aldo? You gonna say "this ain't like ya" like the others?
No, it's not that. It's just, I realized we haven't given this dragon a name yet. And I think it'd be best if you named it.
I never really thought about it, but you've got a point.
It'd be nice to call this little one by name! But I imagine it'll be pretty difficult to come up with one on the spot.
You're probably right about that.
Then why don't you leave it to me? I am the queen of naming things, after all. No one's got better taste in names than me.
A-Are you sure about that?
Hmmm... Eureka, I've got it!
We'll call you...Hemgard Lollo Valspire Holorveld Meipa e Mjรถrm Mjรถrm Brunelle... Ampha Polla Tsothiki Pompam...
Enough! Enough! That's too long!
It's even weirder than I imagined!
Must you always complain, Nca?
Yes, especially when you keep calling me that!
Nevertheless, I think it best to put some thought into the name first, and Wryz should be the one to do it.
I mean...that's a lot easier said than done.
A dragon's name is really somethin' special. And givin' a dragon a name is kinda like tyin' your souls together...
Or somethin' heavy like that. I think I read it in a book back home.
But I want you to name me, Wryz! It'd make me happy!
I appreciate the thought, but...it's not somethin' to be taken lightly. I don't think I'm qualified for the task.
Why not? Don't you wanna give me a name?
It's not that...
It seems we'll have to continue this later.
Wryz?
I'm coming!
We must drive it back. We cannot let it injure us further!
Right. C'mon!
Skip scene?
25. Scene 25
68 linesPhew! We really went all over! We saw stones, water, and metal! Flying all around was so much fun too! I love going on adventures!
Glad to hear it. I know we've got work to do, but I'm glad we can at least enjoy doing it.
True, but...
But what, Wryz? Is something wrong?
Not sure when it happened, but I feel like you're speakin' a lot more fluently now. All the words are comin' out correctly.
It may have been learning from our conversations. Stronger dragons are smarter, yes? If it already possessed the ability to think, then it was only a matter of learning vocabulary.
You're growing up so quickly! And we can't have a growing dragon with an empty tummy! Let's go get some food. I need some herbs, too.
I'll go too! I'm sure I can help.
I shall join you as well. Wryz, you seemed unwell earlier. You ought to stay here and get some rest.
...Hey, Wryz?
Yeah?
I'm worried about you too. Lately, something feels...off.
I couldn't win a single duel back home, so I never managed to impress a dragon. Back then, I was absolutely worthless...
All my life, I've never been admired by heavenly dragons. And now, it's just the opposite. And to top it all off, someday I...I'll...
No. I should grateful. So...thank you.
I know you don't understand it, but...maybe you've got some idea as to what's going on. If there's anything I can do, just say the word.
Do you remember Melpiphia's visions? She looked at me and saw a future where I die. But when she looked at the egg...she saw a future where I live.
And both possibilities still exist.
I know it's strange to think this way, but I...
When I heard that I might not die, I...wasn't exactly happy.
You weren't?
I can't figure it out. When I imagine a future where I live...I feel somethin' important inside of me fadin' away.
And while I'm happy that cute little kid likes me so much... I can't seem to accept its love, or the idea of future where I don't die. It doesn't make any sense.
I don't know what to say... I want to believe we can avoid losing you. I still think that'd be the best way this could all end.
I think so too. The whole reason I have this power is so that I can see the bad things that await and give us a chance to change it.
And that's precisely why I spend so much time polishing up these great moves!
You sure you wanna waste your time on that?
Whatever the case...I won't stop fightin' to change the future. I've gotta stand and face whatever's comin' my way. Or at least...that's what I think.
Like I said, if there's anything I can do, just let me know. I don't want you leaving us.
Hey, Cerius! I have a question! And since you're so smart, I think you can help me!
Does that mean you don't think I'm smart?!
Maybe not as much as Cerius... But I love you because you're so much fun, Sazanca!
If it is within my knowledge, I shall answer you. Now, what is it?
What's a contract?
A contract?
Yeah! Wryz was talking about it before. She said if a human and dragon make a contract, they can be partners. And they'll be together forever! So I wanna make a contract with Wryz, but I don't know how.
Ah... I see. That may very well be a good thing for you both.
Unfortunately, I haven't knowledge of those contracts. Only Wryz does.
Okay! I wanted to surprise Wryz with the contract, but I guess I can't do that if she's the only one who knows how. I'll just have to become a full-fledged dragon and ask her myself!
Indeed. I look forward to it.
Alright. We've filled our bellies and are all ready to head out.
But we already lifted the seal on the four stakes, so...now what do we do?
According to that black dragon, the divine spear should awaken. Although nothing seems to be happening at present...
Then why don't we go see it for ourselves? If the stakes came through the ground here, I'm sure we can find the tip of that spear somewhere too.
Good point. This cave goes beneath that dragon, so it's gotta be close. Although we've already gone pretty much everywhere we could down here.
Well, there is one place we haven't seen yet.
You speak of the area behind that mysterious magic barrier, yes?
Well, it does have the same energy as those stakes, but...
O child of dragons from a realm beyond time Lay bare the strength to carve your own destiny
Carve...my own destiny?
Huh? Did you see something?
Yeah, it's written here. I dunno how, but I was able to read it. It says "child of dragons...lay bare your strength." I think it might mean me...
No way!
Whatever it is I hafta to do...I don't think I can do it just yet.
I do not know who wrote such words here, but...if you can read them, then I surmise they ring true.
Well in that case...I'm gonna go on another adventure! I wanna get stronger and become a full-fledged dragon as soon as possible. That's okay with you, right?
Full-fledged at your age? Isn't that too soon?!
So the student has surpassed the master. There is nothing more I can teach you...
Er, have you taught it anything at all?
Alright. I know how ya feel. You wanna prove yourself and show you're no kid anymore.
I'm trustin' ya to do a good job. Don't let me down, okay?
I won't!
So when the time comes, please say yes...!
26. Scene 26
77 linesI'll be right back!
Wryyyz!
Hey. Sounds like you've got good news.
I do! I can feel myself getting stronger! Maybe now we can get through the barrier!
Then let's give it a try!
I'll open the way forward... I promise!
I did it!
Yay!
Now all that treasure will be ours! Go on, Nca!
Wh-Why me?!
Now that the path's open, we can keep goin'. We might be able to change the future after all.
And none of this would've been possible without ya. Great job.
Oh...! I think this is the happiest I've ever been. I said I wanted to do something, and I actually did it. And Wryz said I did a great job! I can't believe it!
C'mon, you're exaggeratin'. But if I'm bein' honest... You really did do great out there. I can't go around callin' ya "kid" anymore, that's for sure. You're one of us, and an incredible dragon to boot.
I'm so happy! I...I...
It's that light again.
Yeah! The one that shone the first time it grew!
Mayhap all the experience it gained helped it mature.
Whoa...!
That was incredible!
Ahh... My body overflows with power. Such radiance can barely be contained by this vessel of mine!
E-Even its voice is incredible!
This realm transcends life itself. I have awakened as one descended from the heavens.
......
What are you looking at? Is something amiss? I understand that all of this is quite sudden, but even so...
......
...Wryz?
What seems to be the matter, child?
Somethin' smells fishy here.
What was that?
You definitely look the part and your aura feels just like the other heavenly dragons, but...
Feels like you're puttin' on a show or somethin'. Y'know you don't have to talk like that to impress us.
......
So you could tell, huh? Nothing gets past you, Wryz!
Wait. So it was all fake?!
You color is...different now. Why is that?
Well, I think that form earlier is for battle, when I'm all fired up. And I changed my voice, too. You all wanted me to grow up, right? That's why I acted like some high-and-mighty dragon. I thought it'd make you happy!
There's no need to change yourself for us. We're not like that.
Arcadia's a place where anyone can say what they wanna say and be whoever they wanna be.
That's the kinda place she made it to be.
Indeed, and you are one of its members. So there is no need for you to act any differently.
So I'm part of Arcadia now?
I think this calls for a celebration!
First, we'll have a toast followed by an initial round of festivities. Then during the second round, the villagers will sing a song.
And in the fifth round, I will perform an extra- special trick...
Just how big is this party?!
As big as it needs to be. After all...
This dragon is, without a doubt, the very one I saw in my vision.
You mean the future where Wryz is still alive?
Maybe that means we can change the future now.
We can defeat that giant wyrm and save Wryz's life!
I think the possibility is higher, yes...
Hey, Wryz?
Yeah?
I don't understand everything everyone says just yet, so I don't know if there's anything I can do to help, but... There is one thing I wanted to do after growing up.
Oh really? And what's that?
Well, I don't really know how to do it, so I need you to teach me.
Please...teach me how to make a contract with you, Wryz.
What did you say?
I want to make a contract with you! I've wanted to ever since you talked about being a Dragon Summoner! I can't think of anything better than being partners with someone I love! And you can call on me whenever you need me!
Wait. You wanna make a contract with me? That would make me...a Dragon Summoner...
Wow, this is amazing! You've always wanted to be a Dragon Summoner, right?
Something like this could change the future, in big ways!
And what would that mean for my curse...?
Our souls failed to connect, which means you made an empty contract. That goes against the rules of the other world. For that reason, your fate has been fixed. And when the time comes, you will perish no matter what you do. You have been cursed.
This all happened because I made an empty contract. But this could change that... If I made a new contract, would that get rid of the curse?
This is incredible... This could really change the future!
Everyone seems so happy! That makes me happy too!
......
...Wryz?
Oh, sorry. I just... This is all so sudden. But this really would be for the best. And after readin' almost every book in the village, I think I know how to do it too.
We'd need to go somewhere the heavenly energy is strong.
That spear shouldn't be too far off. We can do the ritual there.
I can't believe we're actually doing it. We're going to change the future! I'm so happy!
We couldn't have done it without you, Melpiphia. Now c'mon, let's go.
I never thought this day would come. I'm actually gonna make a contract with a heavenly dragon. I'm gonna become a Dragon Summoner.
Then the curse'll be gone and I can go on livin'... Right?
