Labyrinth: Nixied's Sanctum
5 scenes, 1,070 lines
1. Voice of Nixied
66 linesWhen an unprecedented heat wave sweeps across Savara, the Afih Merchant Guild comes to Ras for a solution.
Ras finds Dominiel who made a contract with Nixied the Spirit Lord and asks her to help Savara with her power of ice.
She seemed rather unsure of herself at first, but with Ras's support, she manages to bring snow to the land of Savara in the end.
However, there are more challenges that await her...
Elisia...
That child... Call that child...
Nixied's voice spread throughout the sanctum.
Though it could not compare to the powerful voice they had commanded in the past, it still had a dignity worthy of a being kin to the Goddess: a Spirit Lord.
That child...is my last hope...
But the Spirit Lord's voice weakened as it left the sanctum, and outside only the faintest whisper could be heard.
The power of the Spirit Lords, inexorably linked to Orbis and its creator Diche, was weakening just as the Goddess's power was.
The once eternal ice walls of the sanctum had started to melt, and the various lifeforms living inside, having sensed the coming destruction, started digging here and there.
Both Nixied and I could only watch as this happened.
It took everything we had just to keep the center of the sanctum protected. Anything beyond that seemed impossible.
At this point, even that final bastion may fall.
As you command...
Dominiel Nixied.
A child recently chosen as successor to the Nixied family.
Unlike Malicus's successor, who immediately wielded the Spirit Lord's powers adeptly, Dominiel would require more time. And yet the situation was dire enough...
To require her help.
Must I put the fate of Nixied and their sanctum in the hands of a child who is still in the early stages of learning how to use the powers granted to her?
But she is our final hope... There is no other option, and no more time.
I must send Nixied's message to her.
Dominiel Nixied...
Nixied...sanctum...
We...
I didn't think we'd end up coming to Nixied's sanctum.
You said that Basar gave you your request?
Yes, it seems that the heat wave currently effecting Savara is somehow connected to the strange phenomena occurring in Wetheric Moor and Nixied's sanctum.
It's just one request after another...
But we managed to arrive at the sanctum quickly thanks to you.
I'm glad I could be of help.
Dominiel Nixied...
Nixied...sanctum... We...
Elisia? Nixied?
Huh? Is something wrong?
The sanctum... Something has happened!
What!?
No... Nixied's sanctum!
Dominiel! Wait!
I think Dominiel kept going straight...
There's a powerful barrier in my way... I'm not sure I can pass through it.
Such a powerful barrier can't exist on its own.
There must be a barrier stone somewhere...
I can feel strong barrier magic emanating from various places...
It's different from the one we encountered at the Lunar Cemetery.
The barrier blocking the way Dominiel went was like this...
Such a powerful barrier can't exist on its own. There must be a barrier stone powering it somewhere.
If I take care of all the stones, the barrier should come down. Then I can move forward.
There's the faintest trace of footprints.
Dominiel must have gone this way.
I should hurry after her.
Graaaarghhh...
Why is there a Wyvern here? Is Dominiel alright...?
There's no sign of blood, I'm sure she must be fine.
And look, underneath the Wyvern, more footprints...
It must be a defense system that activates when the barrier is dispelled.
There's no other choice. Sorry, but I need to get past!
Nixied? Where are you? Answer me...
I can't hear your voice anymore...
Maybe I'm not fit to be the Nixied family's successor...?
Do you...not need me anymore?
Phew... I finally beat it.
First that frenzied wolf, and now this... Have they been affected by Nixied's power?
They weren't easy to defeat...
Anyway, I need to keep moving before Dominiel's tracks all disappear!
2. Corrupted Sanctum
104 linesI sense a barrier here far stronger than the one back in Aurora Forest.
I also sense a corrupt darkness...
Something has definitely happened in Nixied's sanctum.
I hope Dominiel is alright...
So this is the powerful barrier I sensed when I first came here.
And what's this?
I sense an energy similar to those strange illusions of that Elf and Purrgis inside the Great Farche Labyrinth.
I can't bypass it yet... It isn't just a single barrier either.
There are four barriers defending this place.
I have to find all four barrier stones and deactivate them.
So you're the one I was sensing corrupt darkness from.
If this sort is loitering around the sanctum...
Just how weak has Nixied become...?
They're blocking the way to the Goddess Statue. I have to deal with them.
I'll purify you!
Is every barrier stone protected by similar creatures...?
Can the weakening of Nixied alone really cause such creatures to appear?
I don't think so...
Sorry, but I have business with the Goddess Statue behind you.
Get out of my way!
If there's a creature like this in front of every barrier stone... There should be four in total.
I don't think the Wyvern that was defending the entrance would have let these things just walk by...
If they were able to pass by the Wyvern and enter the sanctum...
If there's someone who could truly manage that...
Tenebria.
Tenebria would easily be able to trick the Wyvern and slip into the sanctum.
But Dominiel...
If she comes across Tenebria, who knows what might happen...!
I have to hurry...!
Oh? What brings the Heir of the Covenant here?
Tenebria!
Stop messing around!
Oh my, are you accusing me of something?
Don't play dumb! You did this to the sanctum, didn't you?
Why else would all those corrupt creatures be here?
Do what to the sanctum?
I just wanted to see how an already weakened Spirit Lord would react to me being here.
Don't you get tired of repeating the same evil deeds for hundreds and thousands of years?
That's funny coming from you.
You're the one who's been failing to save the world over and over for the same period of time. *giggling*
Compared to that, this is a lot of fun. And getting to see you act like this, I couldn't ask for anything more.
Not to mention I've met a very interesting child too. The fun just keeps on growing!
Child...? Where's Dominiel!?
Oh? You know her? She was crying about not being able to hear some kind of voice.
What did you do to her? Where is she?
Seeing you react so strongly is refreshing. Don't worry, I only messed with her a little.
Luckily for me, she was having some very interesting thoughts when I turned up.
What are you talking about? What are you planning?
*giggling* Why don't you go look for yourself? She's right ahead.
Ah, the moon is so bright today.
I'll be watching your and Dominiel's reunion from afar.
Wait! Tenebria...
You should hurry. She's already at her limit.
Tenebria... What have you done...?
Dominiel!
What's wrong? What happened?
I can't...hear Nixied's voice anymore...
I must be...unworthy of Nixied's name...
If Nixied doesn't need me anymore...
...Argh!
Dominiel?
Incapable of anything, lost within hopelessness...
Something appeared in my blurred vision.
In an instant, I was engulfed by a ray of moonlight, and...
Something stepped out of me...
Hehehe...
Kyahahaha!
Dominiel?
It's...me?
That's right! I'm the real Dominiel Nixied!
Better than anyone! Stronger than anyone! Kyahaha!
I'll happily take your burdensome name from you if you hate it so much.
And the Heir of the Covenant is here too?
I should put you back to sleep. Kyahaha!
Ugh...
Dominiel!
Dammit, I can't use my full power in this state.
I'll stop pretending to be her now. I'm much cooler than her anyway.
Who are you?
What?!
Only one who can bear the name of Nixied is fit to be their successor!
How can somebody so quick to give it up be worthy?
I'll be Dominiel Nixied from now on! Kyahaha!
What is going on?
Tenebria... What have you done?!
Hmm... I can feel Nixied's energy coming from this direction.
Don't worry. I will inherit Nixied's will.
You can just keep lying there!
Kyahaha!
Wait!
She's gone...
I can't leave Dominiel here by herself...
I should move her somewhere safe first...
Lost within the shock of not being able to hear that voice calling for me...
Stuck between those melting walls, as this cold and holy place fell into chaos...
In an instant, I was engulfed by a ray of moonlight...
As I lifted my head and gazed into it...
Something stepped out of me...
3. Illusions and Nightmares
105 linesI've heard stories of people seeing others with the same face as themselves.
I don't know much about that specific phenomenon, but I have heard of an old legend known as the Moonlight Effect.
On the night of a full moon, if you make a sincere wish, it will be manifested within a copy of yourself.
Is she the answer to that wish? Another me, to hear the voice of Nixied...
Is that girl who looks like Dominiel her Moonlight Shade?
But why did her Moonlight Shade appear now all of a sudden? Tenebria seemed like she knew something.
There must be some kind of connection between the two of them.
I should find Tenebria and that Moonlight Shade first.
There's a corrupt creature here as well...!
The deeper I get, the more I come across. The center of the sanctum may be even worse.
I have to hurry! Time is running out!
Why are these things always standing near the barrier stones? Do they want to destroy them?
But I haven't found any broken barrier stones... Tenebria must have already corrupted Nixied's Sanctum.
Dominiel said she could no longer hear Nixied's voice. If Tenebria's goal is to disrupt the sanctum, then I have to do something.
Could Nixied be stopping her? Are they still maintaining some level of consciousness?
The only one who can know is Dominiel. I need her.
Montmorancy? Alexa? Why are you here...?
Kyaa! Look, Lady Alexa! Now there's an illusion of the Heir of the Covenant!
There's no end to them. This is the power of the Acolyte who attacked Reingar...!
Huh? Wait! What's going on here?
I'll take you on! In the name of the Order of the Sword!
Have you come to your senses now?
Oh no... I wielded my sword against the real Heir of the Covenant... I will accept any punishment.
I'm so sorry... We thought you were another illusion...
They've been seeing illusions of people? Tenebria really has been busy...
So you're the team that Ezera sent to investigate the strange phenomena happening here?
Clarissa and Elson were also with us...
But we were separated...
We must have been following only an illusion of them, and then illusions of monsters started appearing...
I apologize again for pointing my sword at you, Heir of the Covenant.
Forget it. What matters is that you two are in no state to go any farther.
Go back to Ezera, I can take care of this place. I'll look for Clarissa and Elson as well.
Are you sure? Thank you... Please find them...
You can count on me.
I was trying to sound confident...but Clarissa is here too?
I'm already worried...
This is all your fault.
You're the one who wanted to come this way to find Zerato. I tried to stop you.
But you still followed me.
Yuna asked me to! I had no choice!
Huh? How did you two get in here?
...!
...Are you another illusion?
Likely, considering how many we've come across so far. Look, it's armed too.
Then we should attack first!
Wait!
Don't attack people like that. You scared me.
I'm sorry... We thought you were another illusion...
I'm sorry that she suddenly attacked you.
What? Why are you putting the blame on me? You joined in too.
Well, I thought I needed to defend myself as well.
I'm getting a sense of deja vu...
Stop talking amongst yourselves, and tell me what happened.
So you're the team that Reingar sent to investigate the strange phenomena happening here?
Yes... Zerato knew a back entrance into the sanctum so we came with him, but then he disappeared...
We chased after something we thought was him, but they suddenly disappeared.
So that's what you meant by "another" illusion...
This must be Tenebria's work too.
Right, and we kept being attacked by illusions of monsters, so we assumed you were just a fake Heir of the Covenant.
Oh, you know who I am?
Of course! After what happened in Reingar, there isn't anyone there who doesn't!
Zerato also mentioned how he wanted to try fighting you.
Excuse me?
Maya, do you remember what Zerato told us?
Oh, right. He said that if we lose even a single battle while we're here, we should immediately return to Reingar.
It's disappointing, but we must need more training. Let's try coming back after analyzing what we did wrong.
*sighing*...
CRACK!
Huh!? That was loud...
Another illusion! I'll smash you to pieces!
Hey, calm down!
CRAAACK!
Hey, wolf! I think we make a good team!
*growling*
You think so too? Great! Let's get rid of this illusion together!
Not again...
Have you finally calmed down?
How did you block and dodge all my attacks? You're amazing!
Phew... We can finally talk.
You're Zerato, the Frost Mage of Reingar, aren't you?
I'm Ras Elclare. I ended up here while helping the Basar Merchant Guild.
So you're the famous Heir of the Covenant who just stood around and watched while President Yuna saved Reingar.
Excuse me? Stood around and watched? Did Hazel tell you that?
...That's not important. Have you been seeing illusions as well?
They're popping up all over the place. I've been fighting like a madman.
How far has Tenebria reached? Could she already be in the center of the sanctum?
That crazy Ezeran nun was especially strong.
Huh? Crazy nun?
Don't tell me...
Yep. There was a little boy with her begging her to stop, but she wouldn't listen.
What was it she was saying...? Something about blood and the path once tread by the Goddess...?
It must be Clarissa.
In any case, she almost caught this little wolf with her morning star, so I saved him.
Do you know which way she went?
Huh? You're planning to go after her? It won't be easy. She was just as strong as me.
Go right, down there. That was where I first fought her. I didn't see her again after that, so she must have gone that way.
What are you going to do now?
I'd like to finish her off...
*whimpering*
But this little guy is more important right now. Guess I'll head back.
Alright. Leave the rest to me. If you hurry, you should be able to catch up to those dolls.
You met them already? I was wondering where they had gotten to...
Well, I hope we meet again, then I can give you a proper fight!
4. Sincere Wish
251 linesA pillar of moonlight shone before me, and from it, a girl walked out...
She had my face... But she wasn't me.
Was my wish granted by the full moon...?
My wish for somebody else to take my place...
...min... Domi...!
Dominiel!
Nng...
Hey, are you okay?
What...am I doing here...? M-Moonlight Shade...
She changed appearance and then left, although she still had your face... And then I moved you somewhere safe.
I'm so sorry, all I've done is cause you trouble...
Don't be silly. I came back to find you because I need you.
You need...me?
Long story short, while trying to find her, I ran into some people from Reingar and Ezera.
They had all gotten separated from each other after being tricked by illusions.
Illusions...?
Right, it has to be the work of Tenebria. And yet the barrier stones are still safe. Do you think Nixied could be protecting them?
A couple of the people from Ezera are still inside the sanctum... Maybe they could have headed back to the entrance.
Things keep getting more and more complicated. I need your help now more than ever, Dominiel.
...
How can someone like me be of help to the Heir of the Covenant...? I can't even fulfill my own role properly, all I do is make pathetic wishes...
Is this...a cave? And look, there's a barrier here too.
We need to go through this cave in order to reach the sanctum. Nixied has placed barriers everywhere to protect it.
It's very complicated, so it can be difficult to find your way. That's why I'd often rely on following Nixied's voice. But now...
I really am of no help.
Stop beating yourself up, there's nothing you could have done about any of this. Just tell me if you recognize any paths.
Wherever we go, the way is blocked by barriers. There's only one path open.
We'll need to find the barrier stones. Do you know the location of any?
I think there should be one to the north... My memory isn't clear, but maybe once we've walked around a little...
If only I could hear Nixied's voice, it would be no difficulty at all.
Hmm, I can faintly hear a strange noise down below. Maybe if we head that way...
Oh, it's a Warp Gate.
What's that?
By using these, we can quickly travel to other places. Although we can't know where until we've gone through.
I see. Since when were these here...? Hmm, the strange noise down below is getting louder.
You're right. But which direction should we go first...?
...
Dominiel...?
Ah, sorry. I was thinking of something else.
No need to apologize. You don't look very good though... Is there a problem?
Just that...if I can't hear Nixied's voice, then what use am I?
Why would you think that?
I'm weak, and far less capable than the successors of any other Spirit Lord.
That's why that Moonlight Shade appeared. Nixied must have given up on me and started looking for a new successor.
I was wondering what Tenebria was doing... She must have been using illusions to say things to Dominiel before the Moonlight Shade appeared.
Was it not Nixied who asked you to save the sanctum? Why would they do that if they wanted to abandon you?
Well...
Or do you just wish that was the truth? Is that what you really want?
...!
Judging by her reaction, I don't think that helped very much...
You met Tenebria before meeting that imposter, didn't you? And then that's when you stopped hearing Nixied's voice?
...
Tenebria is very clever at tricking people into believing what she wants them to. Maybe that's why you can't hear Nixied's voice. Don't allow her to win.
I'm sorry...
I told you, you don't need to apologize...
The noise is really loud now. The closer we get, the worse it sounds.
What if there's another illusion...?
Was this what's responsible for the noise? I was hoping we could avoid it...
There's a Warp Gate behind it, and I can sense the power of a barrier.
Then there's no other choice, we'll have to fight.
It disappeared like smoke. I knew it, it was another of Tenebria's illusions.
The barrier is gone now, let's get through the Warp Gate.
Okay.
Is this a whole new area again? It's a lot wider and quieter. It feels as if we've ended up even further from the sanctum.
Without knowing where the gates lead or the way to the sanctum, we can't help but get lost.
...
But for some reason, I don't feel hopeless. Maybe because I have the successor of Nixied with me...?
Heir of the Covenant...
I believe we can sort this out, so try keeping your chin up.
Turning back will only waste precious time, so should we just go through?
Oh? Look over there, isn't that where we just were?
They're like shortcuts. They're very helpful at a time like this.
Aha, a barrier stone! But where's the barrier it's connected to...?
I can always feel a faint flicker of mana when you touch them. Try touching it, then we can go in the direction the mana comes from.
Good idea.
*growling*
There's a monster ahead of us. It's protecting something...
I think you're right. Whatever it is, we can't allow ourselves to get delayed for too long.
Krrrrr...
I can't believe there are so many monsters... It shouldn't be like this.
Nixied must be extremely weak. We don't have much time, we should hurry and get rid of that monster.
It feels like we're much farther south than before. I think we're getting closer to the sanctum...
I hope so. Let's keep going.
I'm worried about what he said earlier. Does he truly think that's what I want?
According to legend, Moonlight Shades are born of a sincere wish. If I were him, I'd have lost all trust in me after finding out I did something so pathetic.
But...was that really what I wished for? Did I even make such a wish? Or have I been tricked by an illusion, like he said?
Look, somebody has been through here...
Oh?
Could it have been her? We should follow the tracks.
So weak...
Who's he? I've never seen him before...
He keeps looking around as if he's trying to find something.
Did Tenebria send him here? We should stay on our toes.
Did you think I wouldn't notice you hiding?
Uh oh...
I'm sorry, but I can't let you pass. Things have already gone too far.
My deepest apologies, I thought you were here to steal away more of the Spirit Lord's power.
It's okay, we suspected you were working with Tenebria. With all these monsters and illusions, it's hard to trust anyone we come across.
I'll tell you now, we're not illusions. I'm Ras, and this is Dominiel.
And I'm Baal. I am a wandering sage seeking knowledge. This here is my fiancรฉe, Sezan.
F-Fiancรฉe? Is it not just a doll?
Sadly, yes, she is naught but a doll now. But she did possess a soul once. I'm looking for the power and knowledge to restore it before it fades completely.
Hmm... It looks completely lifeless to me.
Ah, yes, since you mentioned you seek knowledge... Are you aware of something called a Moonlight Shade?
Moonlight Shades... The people here consider their alter-egos to be gifts from a god in response to a wish, am I correct?
The people "here"? Alter-egos?
The world you see before you is not the only one there is. For each new path presented by fate, there is a whole universe to accommodate it.
In the course of my research, I have come to learn that "alter-egos"... This "Moonlight Effect," deals with two versions of the same person existing simultaneously.
In short, rather than some romantic notion of a gift from a merciful god, it is simply a case of one's other self having crossed over from an alternate universe where fate unfolded differently.
...! You mean they're not the result of a wish?
Then how did that girl...
If one's alter ego is summoned, it becomes easier for them to cross dimensions.
So it is only natural a legend may develop that they are the result of one's sincere wish.
Although it is unclear which party is the catalyst. Are you calling for them, or are they calling out...?
By the way, I sense a great deal of ice-cold energy emanating from you.
M-Me?
Dominiel is the successor of Nixied, the Spirit Lord who lives in this sanctum.
I see. And yet...
Alas, her heart is much weaker than the power she possesses. Such a shame.
Excuse me?
Pay me no mind. Anyway, if you are the successor of this Spirit Lord, I suppose you must be here to try and save the sanctum?
I need to borrow the power of this place for my own purposes, so I wouldn't like the sanctum to collapse either. If you don't mind, I'd like to give you my help.
We'd be happy for you to.
That's the road we passed earlier, although all but one direction was blocked by barriers.
Ah, yes, those barriers were my doing. The geography of this place is so complicated, I set them up to make sure I wouldn't waste time following the same path twice.
So that's where they came from... You must be very powerful to be able to make them.
It's clear even to the naked eye that the Spirit Lord is getting weaker. There's no time to waste.
They're barely holding on, I wouldn't be surprised if they've already lost the strength even to speak.
So that's why I can't hear Nixied...
I was too busy pitying myself, I wasted what already little time we have. I'm so stupid...
We need to find the sanctum before everything melts. Your resolve is what's most important now, successor.
Be firm of heart.
...Okay. I've remembered a few paths, follow me.
We found more barrier stones, but the deeper we get, the stronger Tenebria's illusions get.
Why would she be doing all this?
If I know anything about her, she's likely only doing it for fun.
But why did she need to do it here? How and why did that girl who looks like you appear here...?
As I said earlier, Moonlight Shades are not some mysterious being created by a wish. They may look the same as you and have the same name, but they're entirely different people.
There are a variety of ways they may appear, but the most common is passing through a crack between worlds.
That was the case with me, and I imagine it was the case with Dominiel and her Moonlight Shade as well.
I see... The Moonlight Effect legend always says they look the same but have different personalities...
That's right. Humans crave what they lack.
That girl... She also claimed to be Nixied's successor. Was she looking for this sanctum too?
Perhaps, but what Tenebria said bothers me. It was as if she already knew meeting your Moonlight Shade would frustrate you.
Surely it can't be a coincidence that Tenebria has appeared at the same time as this Moonlight Shade. Maybe they could even be working together.
But they seem to have different goals. What's going on here...?
Why can't I hear Nixied's voice? You said I'd be able to if I came here!
I came all this way because of you!
Oh, now I'm the one at fault? Don't blame me, blame the situation.
What's that supposed to mean?
There are currently two people near the sanctum claiming to be the successor of Nixied. You are one of them.
Considering the state Nixied is in, wouldn't such a situation be very confusing to them?
Not to mention, the other Dominiel should have woken up by now.
How do you know all this?
*giggling* Is that really important right now?
If you want to hear Nixied's voice and be accepted as their successor...
Then you need to be the one to reach Nixied first, and take advantage of their weak state.
I know. I know! That's why I came here! Hmph!
I'll show everyone who the real successor of Nixied is! Get ready to fall in love with me!
Ha... Foolish Human. Running around with no idea of what's actually going on. How cute.
I really am lucky. I was trying to work out how to face the Heir of the Covenant. I never expected I'd come across two useful new toys!
Why is the floor here such a mess?
It looks like there's been a fight. Someone was swinging around something heavy...
...I think we found them.
I'll teach you to dirty our pure Goddess's power! Kyahahahahaha!
C-Clarissa... You're being too careless, you'll smash the whole sanctum to pieces...
Ahahahahaha! Die! Die! Die! Die! Die!
I'm scared...
This is the nun I was telling you about...
Are nuns allowed to walk around swinging morning stars like that?
I was also under the impression the nuns of this world were not quite so violent...
Oh! The Heir of the Covenant!
I'm here now, so you can calm down.
These illusions are imitating even him now! I'll make you pay for mocking our divine savior!
No! It's really me!
Not again...
You really are the Heir of the Covenant. I have committed a grave sin...
I told you to stop being so careless...
At least you came to your senses before something terrible happened. But how did you end up so far in?
Clarissa got carried away running after everything she saw, screaming about bringing an end to these "cursed illusions"...
Sounds about right...
Who are these two with you...?
Ah, I'm Dominiel Nixied, successor of the Spirit Lord Nixied.
And I'm Baal. I'm here simply to learn.
Oh, well it's a pleasure to meet both of you. I've heard all about you, Dominiel.
But how has this place managed to become such a mess, if even the successor is here?
Well...
Nixied called for Dominiel, warning her that the sanctum is under threat. It was already like this when we arrived, and Tenebria has been making it even worse.
Anyway, it would be best for you to leave this place to us and get back to Ezera. Montmorancy and Alexa are waiting for you.
Alright, if you insist.
Let's not chase after any more monsters and go straight out, okay?
Yes?
Even to those of us not chosen by Nixied, it's clear the situation is dire. We're just as worried as you are.
The Spirit Lords are kin to the Goddess Herself. If one of them has chosen you, I know you can be relied upon.
May the blessings of the Goddess follow you.
...Thank you. I will save the sanctum.
Where are we now?
It seems like we're south of the cave. There should be a path to the sanctum around here.
Good, I was worried we might be going the wrong way. Let's hurry.
It's a lot colder here...
You know it?
Yes, I always used it when I was getting close to the sanctum.
Great! We found the right path.
Don't let your guards down. Tenebria will likely have something waiting for us.
I won't!
My faith in the legend that the full moon would hear my wish...
My hope that somebody else would take this responsibility from me...
Was it nothing more than an illusion born of my desire to run from my weakness?
Then what I truly wish for is...
No! This isn't what's supposed to happen! Whyyyy!?
Why won't this stupid door open!? I'm Nixied's successor! I am the strongest!
That's the girl pretending to be you. Of course she'd be here...
She may have your face, but her power is of an entirely different nature. One of the many characteristics of Moonlight Shades.
Hey! How did you get here already!?
Looks to me like you can't even get the door open. How about just giving up now?
What do you know!? I can't open the door because SHE'S here! Once I get rid of her, I'll be able to do it!
What!?
I was chosen by Nixied. I was the one Nixied asked to save the sanctum.
You have no interest in saving the sanctum, you only want to be the successor. And that's why you have no right to it.
Dominiel...
Shut up! Shut up, shut up! I refuse to lose to you! I am the real successor of Nixied!
I didn't want to do this...but once I get rid of you, I will be the only Dominiel Nixied. Then I'll be able to open the door!
Get ready to say goodbye!
Noooooooooooooooooooooo! This can't be happening!
But it is, so give up.
Something went wrong! How can someone as strong and amazing as me lose to someone as weak as her!? You cheated!
You started this fight, not me. Your selfishness and complacency are what led to your defeat.
Shut up!
Like you said...I'm weak. But I was able to harness this power thanks to a lot of hard work.
And I'm not going to let that effort go to waste. I'm going to keep trying to become stronger, and I'm going to protect this sanctum with my own hands.
Pfft! Hahahahahaha!
You have big dreams. And you're so timid, you won't even argue back. Do you really believe you'll be able to do all that?
You'll see. I'll show you who the real successor to Nixied is, no matter how long it takes!
She left...
...
She ran away, and you didn't. You're very impressive, Dominiel.
It's all thanks to the faith you two had in me. Without your advice, I would have given up already.
Alright, let's go through that door.
*creaking*
Dominiel Nixied... Successor to the ice...
You...are our final hope...
Here...to bring salvation...
To us wandering Spirits... And our melting sanctum...
5. Nixied's Successor
544 lines...
Can you still not hear Nixied's voice?
No... Frostproof Valley is usually where Nixied's power is at its strongest...
It's as if the entire place is draped in some kind of unknown power. I can only feel Nixied very faintly...
That would be because of the barriers.
Barriers... This must be Tenebria's doing.
She is trying to stop us from reaching our goal.
We need to be quick. Judging by the melting ice, we don't have long left.
What's this Warp Gate doing here?
The weaker Nixied gets, the more twisted the area becomes.
Perhaps that's why I can still feel Nixied's power in some places.
This means any paths you may have known are probably gone.
I should still be able to get a rough idea. Maybe.
We need to be careful not to get lost.
All this started with a heat wave in Savara, I never expected it would end up so serious.
How long has Nixied been in this state?
I don't know, I spent a long time in a place where I was unable to feel Nixied's energy.
Oh? What does that mean?
Ever since we dealt with that heat wave in Savara, more kept reoccurring.
At first, I was able to use Nixied's power to help cool everyone down.
But after you defeated the Archdemon, they started getting more severe.
And Nixied's voice and power began to weaken...
So the heat waves were caused by Diche leaving and the power of the Spirit Lords falling into disarray.
And then Tenebria saw her chance to interfere and make things even worse.
I assumed I couldn't stop the heat waves because I wasn't strong enough...
So I started training somewhere hidden, owned by my family. And yet nothing changed.
So that's why Basar couldn't find you.
But now you know none of this is your fault.
No, I am not without fault. I was so caught up in my own inferiority complex, I didn't even realize Nixied was in trouble.
Do you still think you're not worthy of being Nixied's successor?
I might have thought like that before all this, but not anymore.
I don't have the time for regrets, I need to do whatever I can to save Nixied.
This energy...
What's wrong?
I sense water energy at the end of this path, but it's...chaotic and unstable.
More of Tenebria's handiwork?
If that's the case, it won't be happy to see us.
She isn't supposed to be here in the Frostproof Valley. Why...?
Here you are, Dominiel.
So much anger and resentment... What happened to you, Aquina?
Ack...! A Frost Spirit attacking the successor of Nixied? Something's not right.
You're late... Nixied already...
Aquina! You're being controlled!
You have no right... You must take responsibility...
She won't listen. We have no choice but to fight.
Dominiel Nixied...? What did I...
What are you doing here?
Myself and the other kin of Nixied... We sensed the sanctum was in danger...
But what was waiting for us...was not Nixied...
Then who?
It was Elisia... Elisia of the Ice. She's always beside Nixied. But...
I don't remember anything after that. All I know is...
You have to be careful of her. She's...
Careful? Of Elisia? That makes no sense!
I cannot tell you more than that, but this should give you the answers you need...
This is...?
A frost fragment. It contains the power of Nixied. Though it is only one of six.
You will need to find the rest on your own. Only then will you be able to save Nixied...
Her body is evaporating...
Hurry and get to the center. There you must...
...
A frost fragment... I've never seen anything like this before.
She said it contained the power of Nixied. It seems there's a fragment of the sanctum's memories in there, too.
A clue to what caused all of this.
You should hurry and find out what the memory is.
It would be best for all of us to see it together. Place your hands on the fragment.
Nixied's Sanctum, Sometime Earlier
*rumbling*
I got here safely.
I don't feel comfortable about leaving traces of the Dimensional Rupture I used, though.
Oh well, it should fade before long.
First things first, I need to find my way to Nixied.
*rumbling*
*giggling* I owe somebody a thank you.
All those ruptures caught my attention, but I wasn't expecting them to lead me straight into Nixied's Sanctum.
I didn't even need to knock.
Now, if I use a little of my power...
*shaking*
*growling*
Voila! Now the rupture's big enough for all my friends to come through.
I need you all to tear this place apart for me...
While I prepare a nice, big nightmare for Nixied!
I was uncomfortable about leaving traces, but I didn't think someone else would actually use them...
This is all my fault.
Don't think like that, you didn't lead her here deliberately.
Dominiel's right. Tenebria already had plans to do something to Nixied. She would have gotten in here sooner or later.
Anyway, it's thanks to your being here that we have a chance at making things right.
Thank you for saying that.
But what did Tenebria mean by "all those" ruptures?
I...think I can help you with that too.
I was only able to come to this world thanks to the plethora of traces left behind by Dimensional Ruptures.
And so I used those traces to bring me here to Nixied's Sanctum.
So...these Dimensional Ruptures are capable of appearing anywhere, not just here in Nixied's Sanctum?
That's right. Perhaps there are others from alternate dimensions already here in your world.
You said the frost fragment contained Nixied's power, right?
Yes. Alone, they're quite weak, but once we gather them all together we should have enough power to save Nixied.
Aquina said there are six in total.
Alright then. Let's find them all as we head for Nixied.
Hmm...
What is it?
There's a monster at the end of this path emanating Tenebria's power.
Could it have a frost fragment?
I don't think so, I don't sense Nixied's energy.
We don't need to face it right now, but if we have the time, I think it would be a good idea to check it out.
Both of these paths have a Warp Gate at the end of them.
They're both connected to the center of the sanctum, but there are barriers there as well...
Then we'll need to find barrier stones.
Judging by the energy coming from the Warp Gates, they each seem to be connected to a different place.
Then it's only a matter of which order we go in. We'll need to try them both.
There's a barrier stone at the end of this path.
That will remove one of the barriers blocking our way to the center. Let's hurry...
Ah! The frost fragment is reacting...!
Does the monster guarding the barrier stone have a fragment?
It's highly likely.
But this one looks tough too.
It's faint, but I definitely feel Nixied's energy coming from that monster.
Good! Then there's no need to hesitate any longer!
Tsss... Tsssss...!
*shrieking*
Just as we thought, it had a frost fragment.
Are you both ready to see the memory inside it?
Dominiel Nixied...
*rumbling*
Nixied... sanctum...
We...
*rumbling*
...!
...
Wasn't that the Dimensional Rupture that Baal and Tenebria used?
Yes, but its shape changed slightly.
The power in that voice had an effect on it. Perhaps it's connected to another dimension.
It felt slightly different, but...
The world beyond the rupture was clearly Nixied's Sanctum.
That voice was the same as the one I heard in Aurora Forest.
I couldn't work out who it was back then, but now I can. It was Elisia.
It's so strange. Why was Aquina warning me to be careful of her?
There was no ulterior motive in that voice other than a desperate plea for help...
Nothing will get solved if I stand here worrying. I need to do what I can.
There is a barrier stone containing an ominous power. It seems that the barrier can be dispelled by touching the barrier stone.
Stand back, you two. I need to remove the power from the stone.
This area's even more twisted than the others.
We need to be careful we don't lose our way as we keep using more Warp Gates.
There's nothing wrong with being cautious, but we can't waste time either. The sanctum is still falling down around us.
It's faint, but I can feel a barrier stone at the end of the path to the west.
Based on the way the frost fragment is reacting, there should be another fragment there too.
Alright, let's head that way first then.
The sanctum is collapsing before our eyes. We need to save Nixied as soon as possible...
I'll use all my power to take this monster down and get that fragment.
I wonder what memories it will contain...
Hmph, I probably could have taken that one down by myself, but thanks for helping anyway!
I'm glad I could be useful!
Did you mean what you said earlier? Do you really know why the sanctum is collapsing?
As far as I know, it's because of Nixied's useless successor.
The balance of the Spirit World is failing, and Nixied gets weaker with each passing day.
They're cowering away somewhere, and now the sanctum is overrun by monsters.
But how can someone like her be Nixied's successor?
I'm as lost as you are. You deserve her position a lot more than she does!
Who knows? At this rate maybe Nixied could cease to exist entirely.
What!? No, we need to stop that from happening!
There is a way... If there were to be a new, more worthy successor...
Although, who knows where we might find someone like that...
So this other Dominiel wasn't brought here by your wish or the call of another...
But rather, she came of her own accord.
And the reason she dislikes you so intensely is all because of Tenebria.
But I'm still at fault for what's happening to Nixied and the sanctum.
I should have realized sooner, but I was too caught up in my own inferiority complex.
Dominiel...
Don't worry, I've realized nothing will be solved by dwelling on my regrets.
That other Dominiel seems to want to protect Nixied just as much as I do.
If I meet her again...
Another crossroad? The path is more complicated than I was expecting.
Maybe we can find a way to the center if we go south.
I'm sensing an ominous power to the north. There must be a very powerful monster there.
Okay then, first...
All the barriers have been removed, we should be able to reach Nixied now.
Strange. I don't see any monsters or corrupted Spirits.
Were they not able to infiltrate this deep into the sanctum?
No, I think they let us through deliberately.
What do you mean?
You're thinking of fighting her alone, aren't you?
She looks different from the first time we saw her.
You're right, I don't sense any more hesitation from her.
She told me you'd come if I waited here. Alright, let's settle this once and for all!
This time I will defeat you and become the successor of Nixied!
Why are you so obsessed with becoming Nixied's successor?
Hmph, why should I tell you? You have no right to be successor!
And you do?
Of course, I'm the only one with the will to keep Nixied safe!
I'm not weak and irresponsible like you!
You're right. For a long time. I was lacking in so many ways.
But I'm different now. Never again will I repeat the mistakes I made in the past.
I won't back down. I will prove to you...
That only I can be the successor of Nixied.
It was close, but I think I've won.
No... I lost!? I really put my all into it this time!
This is impossible! If I can't become the successor of Nixied, I...
You're planning to destroy the whole sanctum, aren't you?
That's right! It's your fault the sanctum is in this state, anyway!
Do you really believe that?
I didn't think you had any interest in the sanctum. I thought you only wanted to be named successor.
But I was wrong, the reason you wanted to become successor...
Was that you sincerely wish to protect Nixied, so much so that you left your own dimension to do so.
...! How do you know that?
Through this frost fragment. It holds the memories of the sanctum.
It also showed me how Tenebria is using you.
Using...me?
You don't believe me, do you? But I can show you.
Place your hand on this frost fragment and you will see the truth.
...
No...!
The sanctum is like this isn't because of you...but Tenebria!
I had no idea... I just believed anything she told me and attacked you and your friends.
Hahahaha, I'm so stupid.
No, you're not. And I want to thank you.
Hmph, you don't need to mock me.
I'm not. When I was losing consciousness by the Frozen Lake, I heard what you said.
"Only one who can bear the name of Nixied is fit to be their successor."
Those words echoed in my mind for a long time after that.
After being helped by so many others and meeting you again... I was finally able to say it.
That I am the successor of Nixied.
It's true, you're completely different from the first time we met. And as much as I hate to admit it...
You are the successor of Nixied.
Thank you, it means a lot to hear you say that.
Don't let it get to your head, though! You're still lacking in a lot of ways!
I know, that's why I wanted to ask you to...
Shh! Don't say it. I may not be able to become the successor, but that doesn't change my goal.
Let's go and save Nixed and the sanctum.
A Different Dimension, Nixied's Sanctum
Will you really go to that world?
If I just leave it be, the Nixied of that world will disappear.
Dominiel. My successor. It is not your duty to save the Nixied of that world.
I know, that's up to the successor of that world.
But what if they can't? What happens if their Nixied disappears!?
Then that is that world's fate.
Yes, but... I heard that Nixied's voice. It was desperate.
I can't ignore it. I don't want to!
Who knows how long the Dimensional Rupture might last?
It could vanish as soon as you go through it, and then...
I might not be able to come back.
Exactly. Then I will have lost my successor. I do not wish for that to happen.
Hmm, then how about this... While I'm gone, you keep the rupture open!
You can do that, right? Nixied is the strongest!
I see you will not change your mind. Fine. But I won't be able to keep it open for long.
Don't worry! I'm the successor of Nixied, after all!
I'll fix everything and be back before you know it!
You're disobedient, but your heart is warm. That's why I chose you as my successor.
Please, come back safe.
Hmm! I'm going to join you guys now!
Let's forget the past and work together to save Nixied and the sanctum!
Pleased to meet you. I'm Baal, I'm a...
Oh, I know you! I saw you in the sanctum's memory! You made the Dimensional Ruptures that started all this, didn't you?
Ah, well...
Wow, she's blunt.
D-Don't say it like that! Baal didn't mean to...
It's fine. She's not wrong.
More importantly, there is still a barrier blocking the way to the center.
Oh, you feel it too? You might be useful. As far as I'm aware, Tenebria made it.
She said she needed to buy time to talk to Elisia.
You've met Elisia?
Not directly, no. But I heard her voice. She seemed...sharp.
I see. Then maybe, just like Aquina...
Yes, she could have been corrupted. But don't worry, we have not one, but two successors of Nixied!
We'll get this done, we just need time! Hahaha!
Baal, do you know how many barriers there are?
They're spread far apart, but I estimate there are at least four.
It will take too long to take them out one by one...
Then let's split up and take one each!
I agree.
Okay, we'll each destroy a barrier and then meet back up at the Warp Gate in the north.
Phew, I finally found it.
Touching the barrier stone, you can hear the sound of glass breaking as one of the barriers blocking your way vanishes.
This is a walk in the park.
Touching the barrier stone, you can hear the sound of glass breaking as one of the barriers blocking your way vanishes.
Hurry up and let us through!
Touching the barrier stone, you can hear the sound of glass breaking as one of the barriers blocking your way vanishes.
Once I remove this...!
Touching the barrier stone, you can hear the sound of glass breaking as one of the barriers blocking your way vanishes.
Heir of the Covenant! Fancy meeting you here!
Huche? How did you get in here?
I came to Nixied's Sanctum on a request, and before I knew it I was all the way in here.
Before you knew it? How is that even possible...?
You're curious about the request, aren't you? Well, I'm sorry, but that's between me and the client.
Um, not exactly...
Anyway, it's dangerous here. Hurry up and go home, I'll tell you the way.
Great! I was just thinking I should get back.
Oh, but before I leave, is there anything you need? Now's your chance to buy something special!
I think I can feel Nixied beyond the barrier.
But I also feel different energy, energy sharp as a blade...
Elisia of the Ice.
But why is she so hostile?
A wall of ice cold enough to freeze you down to your very soul. We've never seen a barrier like this before...
I don't think this was Tenebria. Do you have any ideas, Dominiel?
Yes, this...
Dominiel...
This voice... Elisia?
You finally came. I've been waiting.
Come to me...
If you've been waiting, why have you blocked our way?
Still...not enough...
Huh? What do you mean?
Forgive me, Dominiel... Quickly... I...
Elisia?
Dominiel... Why are you crying? Are you okay?
It's, uh... It's nothing. But I know who made this wall.
The Spirit most blessed by Nixied... Elisia.
Nobody is capable of removing it except me and...
Me, right? I can only sense two barriers, so we only need to split in two this time.
I'll take you! Ras, wasn't it? Hurry up!
Oh, uh... Okay.
I'll take the lead. The place we're going is full of Warp Gates.
If we want to get through, we'll need to start with that barrier stone ahead of us.
...
Why are you staring at me like that? Is there something you wanna say?
It's just strange, that's all. Until not too long ago we were enemies, and now not only are we working together...
But you're leading the way.
We're here to save Nixied and the sanctum, of course I'm going to take the lead!
And I need to get revenge on Tenebria for tricking me!
Based on the look on her face, the second one seems to be the bigger reason.
I'm surprised too. From your looks, I thought you'd be interesting...
If I knew it would be like this I'd have chosen the guy with the horns.
Am I not interesting?
Hmm, how can I say it? You have no...humanity.
...
Aha, the barrier stone! But there's something in the way.
Alright, you're about to feel the power of Dominiel, successor of Nixied!
Wait for me, don't fight it alone!
Look at the tracks around here. Whatever's defending the stone must be pretty vicious.
That's not all. I can feel the energy of Nixied, too.
That means it must have a frost fragment.
*growling*
That thing has Nixied's power!? I can't stand by and let it defile Nixied!
Wait, you can't run in alone like that!
We'll beat it if we work together.
Hmm, fine. I'll fight as hard as I want.
You can assist me!
So it did have a frost fragment!
You're pretty amazing.
Huh? Why?
You're boring, but you're tough. Maybe you're not so useless after all.
...
...
You're pretty dedicated to protecting this little sanctum of yours. Give up already.
You're all that's left. Hand over the Ice Crystal.
No, there is still some hope remaining.
*giggling* You can't be talking about Nixied's successor?
How can a little girl hardly capable of harnessing her powers...
...Have any chance of saving you?
Perhaps you could be right, but I must put my faith in her, as Nixied has.
She is our final hope.
Hahahaha! What a load of crap! Do you really believe that?
W-What...are you doing...to me...?
Hmm, I've got a very interesting idea. Did you know? No being that exists in this world is entirely without flaws.
All have a small gap in their heart. You're no different.
...
You should thank me... I'll bring out your true desire.
I knew it. Tenebria tricked Elisia.
Maybe, but there's also something else. When Tenebria said she'd bring out her true desire...
Elisia looked incredibly sad.
...
You don't look very happy.
Oh, no, it's nothing.
Seeing that look on your face reminds me of her.
Do you mean...your doll? Sezan?
Yes. She always tried to shoulder every burden by herself...
But she was never able to hide the emotion on her face.
Is it really that obvious...?
Indeed. Those tears you shed after touching Elisia's wall showed me your compassion.
...
Troubles gnaw at you inside, but you're unable to speak about them.
That's why it's good to share with others every once in a while.
Especially if you're sharing with someone who is only passing through your life temporarily.
...When I touched the wall, I heard Elisia's voice.
She wanted me to come find her.
And I felt...guilt from her.
Guilt...
I want to find out why.
We should reach the barrier stone soon, and alongside it...
Is a monster with a frost fragment.
Chrrrrrrrrrrrk...
A creature that has given up life so it may live forever. I don't like it.
Please buy me a little more time, I'll finish it off!
At this rate...Nixied may disappear.
Once the walls of the sanctum melt to nothing, the Spirits will begin to fade away.
The successor will appear... She will save the sanctum...
She will save us...
I know she will.
You want to leave everything up to a girl who only recently got a hold on her powers...?
There's no other choice. She is our final hope.
Do you really believe that?
But you hate her for ignoring Nixied's message.
Yes... That useless successor...
Then you should know it's too late to save Nixied.
...
The sanctum will soon fall, and the water spirits will cease to exist.
Will you just stand by and watch that happen?
No, I can't...
Nixied's consciousness has already been scattered through the sanctum, but there is still the Ice Crystal containing their power.
If you take the crystal for yourself, you can take Nixied's place.
Take...Nixied's place?
That's the only way to save the sanctum and the other Spirits.
You know that too, don't you?
So that's why you couldn't hear Nixied's voice even though their energy is still here.
Something is wrong...
Like what?
I didn't expect you to arrive so soon. Were there fewer barrier stones than I thought?
There you are! I won't let you get away with using me!
Oh, you figured it out? Don't be angry, it's not my fault you're so gullible.
G-Gullible!?
Don't let her get to you. We need to focus on saving Nixied.
We don't have time to fight Tenebria.
*giggling* You think you're going to save Nixied? Well, who knows, maybe it is still possible.
But you seem to be mistaken about one thing...
Do you really think I'll let you pass?
Ack...!
She will pass, because she has help. We will fight you.
Aha, it's you!
It was so kind of you to help me enter the sanctum. You made my job a lot easier.
There's no need to thank me, just pay the price for what you've done.
We'll hold Tenebria here, you run on ahead!
Okay!
Hmph, as angry as I am, I guess there's no choice!
Those two will never reach Nixied.
Elisia of the Ice will try to stop them.
Oh my, you really are a lot smarter than you look, aren't you? She may be Nixied's successor, but she's young and weak.
She stands no chance.
And then Nixied's Sanctum will...
Things aren't going to go as you planned, Tenebria. There's one thing you don't know.
Oh? And what would that be?
They will save Nixied and the sanctum.
Because they are both Nixied's chosen successor.
You finally came...successor of Nixied.
I saw you in the frost fragments.
Then you must know everything...
No... I saw many things, but not the most important...
Elisia, do you regret taking the Ice Crystal for yourself?
No.
Then why do you feel such deep guilt?
Hey! Don't just walk towards her!
Do you want to know the truth?
Then you must defeat me first.
Tell me the truth, Elisia.
Fine... I will tell you what sin I have committed.
As the power maintaining our world weakened...
Nixied called upon their successor before falling into a deep sleep.
Tenebria took that opportunity to attack the sanctum.
As the sanctum continued to be destroyed, Nixied's consciousness was scattered.
So that's why I could feel faint traces of Nixied's energy all over the place.
I...have been trying to protect the Ice Crystal from Tenebria.
Dominiel... Successor of Nixied... Our final hope... I've been waiting for you.
But I was too late.
Both myself and the Ice Crystal were at our limits. It was reaching a point where we both may have ceased to exist.
That's when Tenebria deceived me.
She used the resentment I felt towards you, Dominiel.
I took the Ice Crystal, but I was not enough for its power.
Before I knew it, it had shattered into six separate frost fragments, and that's when I realized what I had done...
But that was all Tenebria, not you!
No. I made that choice. Because...I resented you...
I coveted Nixied's position, contravening the rules of our world, the very essence of existence...
So I planted the fragments in Aquina and those other monsters.
You wanted me to collect the fragments and punish you...
And revive Nixied.
I have nothing more to say. Here is the final frost fragment.
Elisia is dying...
Thank you, Dominiel. And please...
Save Nixied and the sanctum...
...
If I were a better successor, do you think this might not have happened?
Who can say... But I do know one thing.
The one who brought an end to all this...
Was you.
I can't sense Nixied's consciousness. Was I too late?
Are you giving up?
No. Never.
Then combine the fragments back into the Ice Crystal.
And then you can bring back Nixied's consciousness.
Am I good enough...?
Of course. You're Nixied's successor.
Nixied, I answered your call.
Please, come back to your sanctum...
Your Spirits are waiting for you. We're waiting for you.
FWIIIING
Ki Ruburan, Basar Merchant Guild
The heat waves were happening because Nixied was in danger? This is a lot bigger than I expected.
Don't worry though, it's all sorted out now. There should be no more heat waves.
Boy, am I glad to hear that.
With the Archdemon gone and the heat waves resolved, Savara will slowly start coming back to life.
Of course, it would have been nice if it had all been resolved a little sooner...
Ha...haha... There's a good reason for that.
*chuckling* No need to be so flustered. It wasn't your fault. It's all over now anyway.
You'll be pleased to know I've held up my end of the deal admirably as well.
Really? Then...
She's sleeping in the back room. She should be strong enough now to leave whenever you'd like.
Ki Ruburan, Business District
I'm glad to see you looking so healthy, Mercedes.
I'm sorry for making you worry about me. I should have been helping you.
Well, it was a little dangerous, but it all worked out in the end.
Have you forgotten Arky is here?
Look how thin Arky got after Master starved him of snacks!
The invoice Basar gave me for the time you spent with him says otherwise.
That's... It must be wrong... Arky barely ate anything...
Anyway, what happened to Tenebria?
Once Nixied was revived she lost interest and disappeared.
Typical, you let her escape again! You're useless without Arky by your side.
...I don't think you would have been much help even if you were there.
What about the other Dominiel?
Did she go back to her own world?
Ah, about that...
Reingar, the Academy City
I didn't think you would still be here.
Don't worry, if we find a way back, Nixied will be able to keep it open for a while.
Right... Before we left Baal to continue his research in the sanctum, he said it would be possible with Nixied's help.
Exactly, so there's no need to rush back.
Anyway, he's here in this city, isn't he?
Yes...but do I really have to find him.
Of course! Tell me, who's Nixied's successor in this world?
Me. Dominiel Nixied.
And yet who does everyone know to be the world's greatest frost mage?
...Zerato.
Exactly! And isn't there something wrong with that!?
But...he really is strong.
I don't care! You're the only frost mage that matters to me!
But isn't it dangerous to use Zerato as a warm-up before fighting Malicus's successor...?
Don't be such a coward! Let's get started!
I'll see for myself whether this Gelato guy is as strong as everyone says he is!
Or I'm not Challenger Dominiel!
