1. The Girl's Past Ep.1
115 lines*This Event Story takes place before Chapter 13.
Around the time the Swordbringer was preparing for the war in Cornwall...
Rumors of a certain knight were spreading through the Empire.
A blonde knight who protects her people with a massive shield.
As Vortigern's rebellion made life harder for the common people, tales of the Shield Knight spread like a legend.
An ideal knight, kind to everyone and stronger than anyone else.
The reputation of the knight Galahad grew with each passing day.
Why the hell can't these bastards get their act together...?
However, people paid no attention to another tale.
Hey, do you want to die?
H-Hiiiiiek!!!
"Never awaken that knight's true nature."
The one who beat down all the apprentice knights with a single shield,
The legend of a wandering knight.
What did you say to me when I spared your life last time?
Didn't you promise to turn over a new leaf and live an honest life?
Maybe I need to break one of your legs to keep you from causing trouble, you bastard.
N-No... I was really preparing to make a fresh start...!
But then, the missing Princess Elizabeth... turned up again!
And she's with the Swordbringer!
The Swordbringer...?
You didn't know?
He's the hero summoned to find the Holy Sword...
The hero who saved Princess Isolde from danger, and is currently fighting the Imperial Soldiers to protect Cornwall!
And by his side... is the missing Princess Elizabeth.
It's only a matter of time before Princess Elizabeth and the Swordbringer find the Holy Sword!
No wonder those bastards from the Tiamat Church are furious!
So... because the Church of Tiamat went on a rampage,
you had no choice but to resort to thievery again?
Exactly! As expected of a knight, you're quick to understand...
Gah?!
...Cut the bullshit.
Thud! Thwack!
Galahad swung her massive shield as easily as if it were a twig.
To help you... get back on your feet...!
The stew I bought you... was a f*ing waste, you bastard!!!
Kyaaa!!! I-I'm sorry!!!
I'll really live a quiet life now, so please spare me just this once...!!!
Galahad let out a deep sigh.
It had been six months since she fled the Empire's Knight Order.
Galahad began traveling across Britannia to help the common people.
"Stand by the weak, and prove your valor."
Leaving behind the Empire that no longer stood by the weak,
in order to fulfill her duty as a knight.
Is this why they say no good deed goes unpunished...?
I don't even expect them to repay the favor, but...!
If I spared your life, the least you could do is make an effort to live honestly!
Thud!
The shield slammed down by Galahad shook the very earth.
......
Stand by the weak... and prove your valor.
But is there really such a thing as "the weak" to begin with?
Deepening worries, a troubled mind. Her knightly pride began to waver.
What spurred her forward once again was...
Kyaaa!!!
A scream echoing through the thicket.
......!
As if brushing aside her recent doubts,
she raised her shield and dashed forward, just as she always did.
Lightbringer!
Is the path she wishes to take truly the right one?
To find the answer, the young girl swings her shield once again.
Are you unharmed, my lady?
Yes...! Thank you so much, Lady Knight!
Monsters have been appearing near here more frequently of late.
Please refrain from going out at night.
......
By any chance... are you Galahad?
Oh? How is it that you know my name?
O-Of course I do!
There's hardly anyone in the Empire who doesn't know Galahad's name!
Pardon...?
The blonde knight who protects the people with a massive shield!
The knight who is kind to everyone and stronger than the Empire's generals!
Galahad, you are the very definition of an ideal knight!
I-I see... Though I have only done what duty demands of me...
At first, I thought it was just a story made up by the bards...
but the rumors were true!
I thought I was a goner, but... I guess I'm incredibly lucky!
......
If only Cornwall had... a knight like you...
Oh? Does Cornwall not have the Swordmaster?
Ordinary knights wouldn't be able to lay a finger on her.
I would think monsters of this caliber would be no match for her.
The enemy of Cornwall... isn't monsters like these.
It's the Church of Tiamat.
They are currently kidnapping the catfolk of Cornwall and conducting human experiments on them.
......!
Yet, under the pretext of preparing for the Empire's invasion, everyone turns a blind eye to the tragedy.
I was fortunate enough to escape thanks to the Swordbringer, but...
my friends who were taken to other camps... are probably...
......
Ah! Here I am, babbling about useless things in front of my rescuer!
Hehe... Galahad. Thank you once again.
I'd like to repay you in some small way. Would you care to rest in our village for a bit?
If there's one thing I'm confident in, it's my cooking!
I appreciate the thought, but I have a destination I must reach.
I have cleared out most of the monsters nearby, so please return safely.
That's a shame...
But I shouldn't keep someone so busy!
Galahad! I will never forget your kindness today.
May your journey be filled with good fortune!
The catfolk girl expressed her gratitude one last time before departing.
......
The Swordbringer...
Did she say he is currently fighting the Imperial Soldiers?
No matter how strong the Swordbringer is... the Empire's military power is far superior.
Holding off their advance is likely the best he can do.
In that case, the "other camps" the catfolk warrior mentioned...
it meant those people are still trapped in the dark.
And so, the wandering knight's next destination was decided: Cornwall.
2. The Girl's Past Ep.5
18 linesNyaaaaa!!!
Crash!
Startled by Galahad's shield swing, the goblins quickly began to flee.
Meowww...
...I don't know if you can understand human speech,
but you'd better get out of this forest quickly.
It's dangerous around here with not just monsters, but the Church of Tiamat as well...
Meow...
The cat lightly ignored Galahad's advice and disappeared into the bushes.
......
Now even... a cat is doing this to me...!!!
Aaaargh!!! Humans and cats are all the same!
They're all... ungrateful beasts!!!
The wandering knight's scream echoed through the forest.
Yet, her steps toward Cornwall did not falter.

Is there really a need to relocate the catfolk?
No matter how formidable the Swordbringer is...
it would be difficult for him to hold back the Empire's forces.
Cornwall will fall into our hands soon enough anyway.
...It is the Priestess's command.
......!
The Swordbringer's skills seem quite remarkable, just as the rumors say.
For the sake of our grand wish, now is the time to temporarily withdraw.
Make the preparations at once.
Yes! We will ensure every single one of them is transported without fail!
That is far enough.
...! Who are you? How did you get in here?
A knight's intuition.
...A face I do not recognize.
By the looks of it, you did not come to aid us...
Whose orders are you acting under?
...The common people.
...What?
Those who writhe in agony every single day because of you,
yet have nowhere to turn for help,
I have come under the orders of those abandoned by the world.
......
Well, to put it simply...
I'm here to beat you to a pulp.
If you take your beating quietly, you might just keep your lives. Act wisely.
Do not retreat!
They are all sacrifices for the Ritual of Salvation!
Do not let a single one escape!
Have you still not given up? (There are way more of them than I thought...)
The moment you were discovered by me,
your plans were already ruined. (With this many believers... what on earth are they plotting?)
How foolish.
I despise those blinded by reckless bravado, like yourself.
Especially those who fancy themselves champions of justice.
......!
You are not the first to stand in our way.
And all of their convictions...
ultimately knelt before the Church's will for salvation.
I wonder if you, too, will meet the same end as those foolish souls.
......
I am no champion of justice.
I merely do what must be done as a knight.
Therefore, I shall never let my guard down.
For I give my all, even when apprehending a mere pickpocket.
...Very well.
I hope you can cling to that hollow pride of yours until the very end.
The Church's followers and monsters began to surround Galahad.
(......)
(It's been a while since I felt like this...)
(But what I must do remains unchanged.)
(I will survive, and I will protect the people.)
(As always, I will fulfill my duty as a knight.)
Behind Galahad, who had steeled her resolve...
Meowww...
a familiar cry echoed.
Are you... the cat I met a few days ago...?
Meowww...
Get back here, you damn cat!
That pouch has enough money for a month's worth of food in it!!!
......
......
The Church of Tiamat...?
And that's... a Minotaur King...
......
Uh...
Do you, uh, need some help?
