DEF and level
DEF and the elemental RES stats are rated against enemies of your level. The weight of each point drops as levels climb, so the same DEF cuts less damage at level 60 than it did at level 20.

How battles work
12Hold Basic Attacks

Some characters can use more powerful skills by holding the Basic Attack button. These powerful skills consume the character's unique resources.
Hold Special Skills

Some characters can unleash more powerful attacks by holding the Special Skill button.

Holding the Special Skill button will display a guiding UI, and releasing the button during a certain window or holding it to the end will trigger a powerful attack.
Extra Input Special Skills

Some Special Skills can be used consecutively.

Pressing the button for a Special Skill that can be used consecutively displays a guiding UI, and repeatedly pressing the button within the window shown on the guide will trigger a chain attack.
Air Counter

Air Counters When your character becomes airborne after being attacked by the enemy, you can use an Air Counter.

Air Counters Pressing the Dodge button while its icon is displayed on your character triggers an Air Counter against the enemy.
Switch Skills

Switched-in characters use a Switch Skill when they join the battle. Some characters have Switch Skills with special effects.
Ultimate Skill

Ultimate Skills Landing attacks on enemies and applying status effects to enemies or allies fills your Ultimate Gauge.

Ultimate Skills When your Ultimate Gauge is full, you can unleash your Ultimate Skill.
Elemental Weaknesses

Attacks using a monster's elemental weakness inflict higher damage.
Staggering and Bursts

Landing attacks on the boss enemy fills the Stagger Gauge. Destroyers fill the Stagger Gauge faster.

Once the gauge is full, Nyanners's Skill can be used. Use its skill before the time is up to summon Nyanners, who causes the boss to Stagger.

Burst is triggered when the boss is Staggered. Assassins deal more damage while a boss is Staggered or during a Burst.
Special Attacks

Certain monsters use special attacks with a yellow glow.

Using Dodge or Switch Skills at the right moment neutralizes the enemy and resets the cooldowns of all Switch Skills.

Using a Switch Skill to neutralize an enemy resets the cooldowns of all teammates' Switch Skills.

Sometimes, monsters use even stronger special attacks with a red glow. Evasion Counter won't trigger against these attacks, so evade them instead.
Part Destruction

Certain enemies have [parts] that can be [destroyed] if they are dealt enough damage.

When a [part is destroyed], the enemy is temporarily incapacitated, and boss enemies receive a set amount of [Stagger Gauge] charge.
Counter Gauge

Certain enemies display a [Counter Gauge] while they prepare to unleash powerful attacks.

While they prepare, you can attack the enemy to drain its [Counter Gauge]. If you drain the [Counter Gauge] completely before time runs out, you can prevent the enemy's powerful attack.

Sometimes, the [Counter Gauge] can only be drained by attacks of a certain element. Attacks from a character with that elemental alignment will stop the enemy's powerful attack.
Reviving

You can't tag in a character with no HP left.

You can make a drink and consume it during combat to revive a character. Increase your resilience with drinks!
